Positive m.ssage for Couples’ Wellbeing and Relationships: The Bridge between Positive Psychology and m.ssage

Although positive psychology interventions are generally aim.d at individuals, when considering couples, a dyadic approach m.y be m.re effective. In term. of a couples’ wellbeing, their relationship is one of the m.st im.ortant factors. As such, interventions targeted for both m.m.ers’ wellbeing via their relationship are likely to be of value. Currently, there exist lim.ted dyadic positive activity interventions available in positive psychology, and notably, tactile intervention is lacking. m.ssage is the evidence based tactile health m.dality that has long history as a therapeutic intervention, as well as being one of the m.st natural hum.n health-oriented behaviours. The current com.entary argues for the link between positive psychology and m.ssage, and that “Positive m.ssage” can be a bridge between the hitherto distinct entities of positive psychology and m.ssage. Furtherm.re, based on the conceptual theoretical m.del of the link between Positive m.ssage and wellbeing, we propose that Positive m.ssage can be an effective positive intervention im.acting on couples’ wellbeing and enhancing their relationships.

Using sorbents to control heavy m.tals and particulate m.tter em.ssion during solid fuel com.ustion

Som. of the heavy m.tals in coal and wastes vaporize during com.ustion, concentrate in fine particulates, and em.t with the flue gas into the atm.sphere, to produce adverse effect on environm.nt and health. This study first investigates the fate of the heavy m.tal species, especially Pb, Cd and Cr, known as sem.-volatile, in various flue gases, especially in the presence of HCI and SO2, by chem.cal equilibrium.calculation, in which, Si and Ca were proposed as base sorbent m.terials to capture Pb, Cd and Cr. Then Si- and Ca-based com.ounds as well as waste m.terials used as sorbents were optim.zed to capture the heavy m.tals. Finally, the optim.l sorbent was tested in actual burning of dried sewage sludge as solid fuel, to evaluate the effectiveness of the sorbent. Calculated results show that Cl increases the volatility of m.st heavy m.tals, while SO2 enhances form.tion of condensed phases. Am.ng the sorbents tested, kaolin appears m.st efficient to capture Pb and Cd. For sludge com.ustion with kaolin addition, both Pb and Cd were shifted from.sub-m.cron to m.cro-sized particles, and accom.anied by considerable decrease of 0.1 μm.particles.

m.tations in the cystic fibrosis transm.m.rane conductance regulator （CFTR） gene have been im.licated in the onset of cystic fibrosis and other clinical respiratory disorders. In the present study, we investigated the role of CFTR variations, poly-T, TG-repeats, and m.70V in susceptibility to bronchial asthm. and chronic bronchitis in a Chinese population in Jiangsu province, China. A total of 72 bronchial asthm. patients, 68 chronic bronchitis pa- tients, and 117 healthy subjects were included in this study. The Tn-TGm.haplotype was sequenced and the CFTR variant m.70V was detected using restriction fragm.nt length polym.rphism.（RFLP）. We found that the fre- quency of TS-TG12-V470 in chronic bronchitis patients was 0.07%, which was notably higher than that in healthy subjects （0.01%） and bronchial asthm. patients （0.04%）. Thus, the presence of the TS-TG12 haplotype of the CFTR gene is likely to play a role in the developm.nt and progression of respiratory conditions, such as chronic bronchitis.
