An experimental study on optimizing parameters for sand consolidation with organic-inorganic silicate solutions

Sand production along with the oil/gas detrimentally affects the oil production rate, downhole & subsurface facilities. Mechanical equipment and various chemicals like epoxy resin, furan resin, phenolic resin, etc. are used in the industry to reduce or eliminate this problem. In the present study, a blend of organic and inorganic silicates are used to consolidate loose sand in the presence and absence of crude oil using a core flooding apparatus. The effects of chemical concentration, pH, curing temperature and time, and the presence of residual oil on the consolidation treatment results such as compressive strength and permeability retention, were investigated and optimized. FT-IR and FE-SEM characterization techniques were employed to investigate the interaction between the chemical molecules and the sand grains. The current binding agent exhibited a viscosity of less than 6 cP at room temperature, which facilitates efficient pumping of binding agent into the desired formation through the well bore. The developed mixture demonstrated consolidation properties across all pH conditions. Furthermore, during the experimental investigation, the curing time and temperature was carefully optimized at 12 h and 423.15k, respectively to achieve the highest compressive strength of 2021 psi while achieving the permeability retention of 64%. The current chemical system exhibited improved consolidation capacity and can be effectively utilized for sand consolidation treatment in high-temperature formations. Phytosomes(phytophospholipid complex) are dosage forms that have recently been introduced to increase the stability and therapeutic effect of herbal medicine. currently, bioactive herbs and the phytochemicals they contain are considered to be the best remedies for chronic diseases. One promising approach to increase the efficacy of plant-based therapies is to improve the stability and bioavailability of their bio-active ingredients. Phytosomes employ phospholipids as their active ingredients, and use their amphiphilic properties to solubilize and protect herbal extracts. The unique properties of phospholipids in drug delivery and their use in herbal medicines to improve bioavailability results in significantly enhanced health benefits. The introduction of phytosome nanotechnology can alter and revolutionize the current state of drug delivery. The goal of this review is to explain the application of phytosomes, their future prospects in drug delivery, and their advantages over conventional formulations.

Electrochemical performance of a symmetric supercapacitor device designed using laser-induced multilayered graphene

This study demonstrates a facile and economical approach for fabricating laser-induced graphene（LIG）, which results in improved electrochemical performance. Polyimide polymer was used as a starting material for LIG synthesis and irradiated under ambient conditions using a cO2laser. The prepared LIG samples were characterized by Raman spectroscopy and FTIR, which validated the formation of multilayered graphene containing sp2 hybridized c=c bonds. The FE-SEM revealed three-dimensional sheetlike structures, while HR-TEM images displayed lattice planes with an interplanar spacing of approximately 0.33 nm, corresponding to the（002） plane of graphene. The electrochemical performance of the as-prepared LIG samples demonstrated a remarkable areal specific capacitance（cA） of 51 mF cm-2(170 F g-1) at 1 mA cm-2(3.3 A g-1) in a three-electrode configuration with 1M kOH as the aqueous electrolyte. The LIG electrodes produced an energy density of ～3.5 μWh cm-2and a power density of ～350 μW cm-2,demonstrating significant energy storage capabilities. Additionally, the electrodes exhibited excellent cyclic stability, retaining 87%of their specific capacitance after 3 000 cycles at 1 mA/cm2. The symmetric supercapacitor fabricated with LIG electrodes and the tested 1M kOH electrolyte showed a specific capacitance of 23 mF cm-2and maintained excellent retention after 10,000 cycles,showing LIG's potential for supercapacitor applications.

Structural, electronic, and mechanical properties of cubic TiO_2:A first-principles study

We present an analysis of structural, electronic, and mechanical properties of cubic titanium dioxide （TiO2） using an all electron orthogonalzed linear combinations of atomic orbitals （OLcAO） basis set under the framework of density functional theory （DFT）. The structural property, especially the lattice constant a, and the electronic properties such as the band diagram and density of states （DOS） are studied and analyzed. The mechanical properties such as bulk moduli, shear moduli, Young＇s Moduli, and Poison＇s ratio are also investigated thoroughly. The calculations are carried out on shear moduli and anisotropy factor for cubic TiO2. The Vickers hardness is also tested for fluorite and pyrite cubic-structured TiO2. Furthermore, the results are compared with the previous theoretical and experimental results. It is found that DFT- based simulation produces results which are approximation to experimental results, whereas the calculated elastic constants are better than the previous theoretical and experimental values.

RIG-I-like receptor-induced IRF3 mediated pathway of apoptosis （RIPA）： a new antiviral pathway

The innate immune response is the first line of host defense to eliminate viral infection. Pattern recognition receptors in the cytosol, such as RIG-I-like receptors （RLR） and Nod-like receptors （NLR）, and membrane bound Toll like receptors （TLR） detect viral infection and initiate transcription of a cohort of antiviral genes, including interferon （IFN） and interferon stimulated genes （ISGs）, which ultimately block viral replication. Another mechanism to reduce viral spread is through RIPA, the RLR-induced IRF3-mediated pathway of apoptosis, which causes infected cells to undergo pre- mature death. The transcription factor IRF3 can mediate cellular antiviral responses by both inducing antiviral genes and triggering apoptosis through the activation of RIPA. The mechanism of IRF3 activation in RIPA is dis- tinct from that of transcriptional activation; it requires linear polyubiquitination of specific lysine residues of IRF3. Using RIPA-active, but transcriptionally inactive, IRF3 mutants, it was shown that RIPA can prevent viral replication and pathogenesis in mice.

Pyogenic liver abscess caused by Fusobacterium in a 21-year-old immunocompetent male

A 21-year-old male with no significant past medical history, presented with right upper quadrant(RUQ) abdominal pain along with fevers and chills. Lab work revealed leukocytosis, anemia, and slightly elevated alkaline phosphatase. Viral serology for hepatitis B virus, hepatitis c virus, and human immunodeficiency virus were negative and he was *** tomography imaging revealed hepatic abscesses, the largest measuring 9.5 cm. Empiric antibiotics were started and percutaneous drains were placed in the abscesses. Anaerobic cultures from the abscesses grew Fusobacterium nucleatum. This is a gram negative anaerobic bacteria; a normal flora of the oral cavity. Fusobacterium is most commonly seen in Lemiere's disease, which is translocation of oral bacteria to the internal jugular vein causing a thrombophlebitis and subsequent spread of abscesses. Our patient did not have Lemiere's, and is the first case described of fusobacterium pyogenic liver abscess in a young immunocompetent male with good oral hygiene. This case was complicated by sepsis, empyema, and subsequent abscesses located outside the liver. These abscesses' have the propensity to flare abruptly and can be fatal. This case not only illustrates fusobacterium as a rare entity for pyogenic liver abscess, but also the need for urgent diagnosis and treatment. It is incumbent on physicians to diagnose and drain any suspicious hepatic lesions. While uncommon, such infections may develop without any overt source and can progress rapidly. Prompt drainage with antibiotic therapy remains the cornerstone of therapy.

Barley(Hordeum vulgare L.)grasses(BG)have attracted considerable interest due to their multiple physiological activities and health *** this paper,eight BG at four different growth stages were collected:seedling,tillering,stem elongation,and heading,and their product qualities and biological activities were examined and *** demonstrated that harvest time obviously influenced proximate composition,surface color,and amino acid profile.Z21 and Z23 harvested at the seedling and early tillering stages,respectively,had higher total phenolic content(TPc)and total flavonoid content(TFc)than the other ***,Z21 and Z23 possessed better DPPH radical-scavenging ability,antioxidant capacity,andα-glucosidase inhibitory activity,which were positively correlated with TPc,TFc,and protein and total amino acid *** findings suggested that the early tillering stages were the preferable harvest times for BG with good product quality and biological properties.

After a prolonged debate and discussion,the World Health Organization(WHO)relisted'snakebite'under category'A'of'Neglected Tropical Diseases'(NTDs)in June 2017 hoping to diminish its burden on ***,in March 2009,WHO added snakebite to its official list of NTDs but later downgraded to'Other Neglected conditions',a list reduced in importance[1,2].Obviously,the recent inclusion of snakebite in NTDs was due to the estimation of huge toll of deaths due to snake envenomation in tropical countries as supported by the multiple *** inclusion will expedite the process of developing better management protocols and infusing funds for such affected countries.

Sustainable remediation of failed slope using helical soil nails

The performance of a helical soil nailed structure is dependent on the installation torque required and the consequent pullout resistance *** present research work aims at proposing theoretical models to estimate the required torque during installation of helical soil ***,theoretical models are also developed to predict the pullout capacity of single and group of the helical nail for uniform and staggered *** proposed model predicts the pure-elastic and elastic-plastic pullout behavior of different helical *** equation for estimating the capacity-totorque Ratio(kt)has also been developed for different nail shaft *** results from the proposed models are validated with experimental results obtained from model testing of both single and group of helical *** predicted results are also compared for validation with the published *** results for installation torque and pullout load depict that the developed models predict values which are in accordance with the experimental results and are also found in good agreement with the published ***,the proposed models can effectively be used by the filed engineers for estimating the required installation torque and corresponding pullout capacities for single or double plate helical soil nails in cohesionless soil under surcharge pressure range of 0–50k Pa.
