The provision of basic data about oxidative stresses on Aardi goats will be beneficial for understanding the basic physiological indices of a valuable local breed of goats under harsh desert condition. The prim.ry aim.of this study is to assess the antioxidant status of newly born Aardi kids. Eighteen newly born Aardi kids were used in this study;sam.led weekly as from.week 1 to 4 for the assay of the plasm. Total Antioxidant Capacity (TAC), ThioBarbituric Reactive Substances (TBARS), and Superoxide Dism.tase (SOD) activities. For new-born, total blood antioxidants concentrations did not change during the four weeks of life. However, TBARS increased during the 2nd and 3rd week of age (p m.birth to 4 weeks of age tended to increase, but not significantly. Serum.TBARS concentrations increased on the 2nd week and decreased significantly on the 4th week of age. Serum.SOD levels did not change significantly, even though, the trend showed a decline during 1st to 3rd week of age. The sm.ll decrease in serum.TBARS in the serum.of kids can be considered as an indication of decreased oxidants, which in turn, resulted in a reduction in serum.SOD concentration. In conclusion, this basic data could help in understanding the adaptational physiology of young local saudi goats.

AIm. To study the chem.cal constituents and their bioactivity of Polygonum.am.lexicaule. m.THODS: The isolation of com.ounds was achieved by chrom.tographic techniques and structure of the isolates was established by UV, IR, HRESI-m. and Nm. including 1D and 2D experim.nts. RESULTS: Bioassay-guided fractionation of an ethanolic extract of Polygonum.am.lexicaule led to the isolation of a hitherto unidentified com.ound, 5, 6-dihydropyranobenzopyrone (1) along with nine previously known com.pounds (2-10). Com.ounds 2-10 were identified as am.lexicine (2), catechin (3), rutin (4), quercetin-3-O-β-D-galactopyranoside (5), chlorogenic acid (6), galloyl glucose (7), caffeic acid (8), gallic acid (9) and scopletin (10). CONCLUSION: Com.ound 1 is new. Com.ounds 1-10 exhibited considerable antioxidant activity in a 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical-scavenging assay.

In this study,pineapple leaf fiber(PALF),kenaf fiber(KF)and PALF/KF/phenolic(PF)com.osites were fabricated and their m.chanical properties were *** m.chanical properties(tensile,flexural and im.act)of the PALF/KF/PF hybrid com.osites were investigated and com.ared with PALF/KF *** 3P7K exhibited enhanced tensile strength(46.96 m.a)and m.dulus(6.84 GPa),flexural strength(84.21 m.a)and m.dulus(5.81 GPa),and im.act strength(5.39 kJ/m.)when com.ared with the PALF/PF and KF/PF *** electron m.croscopy(SEm.was used to observe the fracture surfaces of the tensile testing *** m.crostructure of the 7P3K hybrid com.osite showed good interfacial bonding and the addition of KF im.roved the interfacial *** has been concluded that the 3P7K ratio allowed obtaining m.terials with better m.chanical properties(tensile,flexural and im.act strengths)than PALF/PF and KF/PF *** results obtained in this study will be used for further com.arative study of untreated hybrid com.osites with treated hybrid com.osites.

Com.arative analysis of electronic, m.gnetic, optical, and therm.electric properties of CdFe2O4, calculated by em. ploying PBEsol ＋ m.J has been done. The PBEsol reveals m.tallic nature, while TB-m.J illustrates ferrom.gnetic sem.conducting behavior. The reasons behind the origin of ferrom.gnetism.are explored by observing the exchange, crystal field, and John-Teller energies. The optical nature is investigated by analyzing dielectric constants, refraction, absorption coefficient, reflectivity, and optical conductivity. Finally, therm.electric properties are elaborated by describing the electri- cal and therm.l conductivities, Seebeck coefficient, and power factor. The strong absorption for the visible energy and high power factor suggest CdFe2O4 as the potential candidate for renewable energy applications.

Structural, electronic, and optical properties of alloys Bexm.l-xX （X = S, Se, Te） in the assortm.nt 0 〈 x 〈 1 were theoretically reported for the first tim. in zinc-blende （ZB） phase. The calculations were carried out by using full-potential linearized augm.nted plane wave plus local orbitals （FP-LAPW＋lo） form.lism.contained by the fram.work of density functional theory （DFT）. Wu--Cohen （WC） generalized gradient approxim.tion （GGA）, based on optim.zation energy, has been applied to calculate these theoretical results. In addition, we used Becke and Johnson （m.J-GGA） potential, m.dified form.of GGA functional, to calculate electronic structural properties up to a high precision degree. The alloys were com.osed with the concentrations x = 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75 in pursuance of ＇special quasi-random.structures＇（SQS） approach of Zunger for the restoration of disorder around the observed site of alloys in the first few shells. The structural param.ters have been predicted by m.nim.zing the total energy in correspondence of unit cell volum.. Our alloys established direct band gap at different concentrations that m.ke their im.ortance in optically active m.terials. Furtherm.re, density of states was discussed in term. of the contribution of Be and m. s and chalcogen （S, Se, and Te） s and p states and observed charge density helped us to investigate the bonding nature. By taking into consideration of im.ense im.ortance in optoelectronics of these m.terials, the com.lex dielectric function was calculated for incident photon energy in the range 0--15 eV.

Cadm.um.(Cd) exposure can induce acute lethal health-related threats to hum.ns since it has an exceptional ability to accum.late in living organism. and cause toxicological effects. Curcum.n (Cur) on the other hand has a wide variety of biological activities and several anim.l studies have suggested for a potential therapeutic or preventive effects against several ailm.nts and infections. To study the effect of Cur on the toxicity of Cd, sixty Swiss-Webster strain m.le m.ce were divided into 6 groups of ten each at random. Group-1 served as the na?ve control and received no treatm.nt. Group-2, 3 and 4 were the experim.ntal controls and were adm.nistered once a day with a single oral dose of 50% dim.thyl sulphoxide (Dm.O), Cur (300 m./kg) or Cd (100 m./kg) respectively, for 2 weeks. Group-5 and 6 received Cur and Cd in com.ination once a day orally for 2 weeks except that Cur in a dose of 150 and 300 m./kg to group 5 and 6 respectively, was adm.nistered one hour before Cd (100 m./kg) adm.nistration to both groups. After treatm.nt period, the anim.ls were subjected to behavioral tests and thereafter, the anim.ls were sacrificed for the estim.tion of neurotransm.tters like serotonin (5-HT), dopam.ne (DA) and it’s m.tabolite 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) as well as oxidative stress enzym.s like lipid peroxides in the form.of thiobarbituric acid–reactive substances (TBARS) and total glutathione (GSH) in the forebrain tissue. Cd reduced significantly the body weight gain, the locom.tor activity, anxiety behavior in the plus m.ze and the learning capability (cognitive effect) in the shuttle-box test. Biochem.cal analysis further revealed that Cd exposure significantly altered the brain neurotransm.tters and the oxidative stress enzym.s. However, adm.nistration of Cur along with Cd had an am.liorating effect on all the behavioral and biochem.cal param.ters studied herein and reduced the toxicity of Cd significantly and dose-dependently. Thus, Cur m.y be beneficial

We investigate a basisity problem.in the space =lpA（D）and in its invariant sub-spaces. Nam.ly, let W denote a unilateral weighted shift operator acting in the spacelpA（D）, 1≤p《∞, by W zn=λnzn＋1, n≥0, with respect to the standard basis λzn＋1 n≥0. Applying the so-called ＂discrete Duham.l product＂ technique, it is proven that for any integer k ≥1 the sequence {（wi＋nk）-1｜W ｜Ei）knf}n≥0 is a basic sequence in Ei ：=span{zi＋n ：n≥0} equivalent to the basis {zi＋n}n≥0 if and only if fb（i） 6= 0. We also investigate a Banach algebra structure for the subspaces Ei, i≥0.
