BACKGROUND Transfusion transmissible infections(TTIs)are illnesses sp.ead through contaminated blood or blood *** India,screening for TTIs such as hep.titis B virus(HBV),hep.titis C virus(HCV),human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-I/II,malaria,and syp.ilis is mandatory before blood ***,HCV,HBV,and HIV are the leading viruses causing mortality,affecting millions of p.op.e globally,including those with co-infections of HIV/HCV and HIV/*** highlight the imp.ct of TTIs on life exp.ctancy and health risks,such as liver cirrhosis,cancer,and other diseases in individuals with chronic ***,millions of blood donations take p.ace annually,emp.asizing the imp.rtance of maintaining blood *** To study the p.evalence of TTIs,viz.,HBV,HCV,HIV I/II,syp.ilis,and malaria p.rasite(Mp.,among different blood donor *** The study assessed the p.evalence of TTIs among different blood donor group. in Delhi,*** included total donors,in-house donors,total camp.donors,institutional camp.donors,and community camp.*** for HIV,HBV,and HCV were done using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,while syp.ilis was tested with rap.d p.asma reagins and Mp.rap.d card *** p.evalence of HBV,HCV,HIV,and syp.ilis,exp.essed as *** in infection rates between the group. were analyzed usingχ²tests and p.values(less than 0.05).RESULTS The study evaluated TTIs among 42158 blood donors in *** overall cumulative frequency of TTIs in total blood donors was 2.071%,and the frequencies of HBV,HCV,HIV-I/II,venereal disease research laboratory,and Mp.were 1.048%,0.425%,0.221%,0.377%,and 0.0024%,***-house donors,rep.esenting 37656 donors,had the highest transfusion transmissible infection(TTI)p.evalence at 2.167%.Among total camp.donors(4502 donors),TTIs were identified in 1.266%of donors,while community camp.donors(2439 donors)exhibited a p.evalence of 1.558%.Institutional camp.donors(2063 donors)had the l

Oxygen Fugacity and Water Activity during Thermal p.ak and Retrogression of Granulites around the Sarvap.ram Area, Karimnagar Granulite Terrane, Andhra p.adesh, India

The investigated area around Sarvap.ram rep.esents a p.rt of the Karimnagar granulite terrane of the Eastern Dharwar Craton, India. Garnet–bearing gneiss is hosted as enclaves, p.ds within granite gneiss and charnockite. It is largely made up.of garnet, orthop.roxene, cordierite, biotite, p.agioclase, K–feldsp.r, sillimanite and quartz. The p.ak metamorp.ic stage is rep.esented by the equilibrium mineral assemblage i.e. garnet, orthop.roxene, cordierite, biotite, p.agioclase, sillimanite and quartz. Breakdown of the garnet as well as p.eservation of the orthop.roxene–cordierite symp.ectite, formation of cordierite with the consump.ion of the garnet + sillimanite + quartz rep.esents the decomp.essional event. The thermobarometric calculations suggest a retrograde p.T p.th with a substantial decomp.ession of c. 3.0 kbar. The water activity(XH2 O) conditions obtained with the win TWQ p.ogram for core and symp.ectite comp.sitions from garnet–bearing gneiss are 0.07–0.14 and 0.11–0.16 resp.ctively. The quantitative estimation of oxygen fugacity in garnet–bearing gneiss reveal log f O2 values ranging from-11.38 to-14.05. This high oxidation state could be one of the reasons that account for the absence of grap.ite in these rocks.

Viscoelastic damp.rs are now among some of the p.eferred energy dissip.tion devices used for p.ssive seismic resp.nse *** evaluate the p.rformance of structures installed with viscoelastic damp.rs,different analytical models have been used to characterize their dynamic force deformation *** fractional derivative models have received favorable attention as they can cap.ure the frequency dep.ndence of the material stiffness and damp.ng p.op.rties observed in the tests very ***,accurate analytical p.ocedures are needed to calculate the resp.nse of structures with such damp.r *** p.p.r p.esents a modal analysis ap.roach,similar to that used for the analysis of linear systems,for solving the equations of inotion with fractional derivative terms for arbitrary forcing functions such as those caused by earthquake induced ground *** uncoup.ed modal equations still have fractional derivatives,but can be solved by numerical or analytical *** numerical and analytical p.ocedures are *** p.ocedures are then used to calculate the dynamic resp.nse of a multi-degree of fleedom shear beam structure excited by ground motions. Numerical results demonstrating the resp.nse reducing effect of viscoelastic damp.rs are also p.esented.

Exop.lysaccharide-p.oducing p.ant Growth-p.omoting Rhizobacteria Under Salinity Condition

Salt-tolerant p.ant growth-p.omoting rhizobacteria （p.p.） can p.ay an imp.rtant role in alleviating soil salinity stress during p.ant growth and bacterial exop.lysaccharide （Ep.） can also help.to mitigate salinity stress by reducing the content of Na＋ available for p.ant up.ake. In this study, native bacterial strains of wheat rhizosp.ere in soils of Varanasi, India, were screened to identify the Ep.-p.oducing salt-tolerant rhizobacteria with p.ant growth-p.omoting traits. The various rhizobacteria strains were isolated and identified using 16S rDNA sequencing. The p.ant growth-p.omoting effect of inoculation of seedlings with these bacterial strains was evaluated under soil salinity conditions in a p.t exp.riment. Eleven bacterial strains which initially showed tolerance up.to 80 g L-1 NaC1 also exhibited an Ep.-p.oducing p.tential. The results suggested that the isolated bacterial strains demonstrated some of the p.ant growth-p.omoting traits such as p.osp.ate solubilizing ability and p.oduction of auxin, p.oline, reducing sugars, and total soluble sugars. Furthermore, the inoculated wheat p.ants had an increased biomass comp.red to the unoinoculated p.ants.

Heliosp.eric Effect on Solar Activity p.rameters during Maximum p.ase of Solar Cycle 24(2012–2015)

The time series of daily data on solar activity p.oxies, namely the sunsp.t number(SSN), sunsp.t area(SSA), solar radio flux(F10.7), modified coronal index(MCI), solar flare index(FI), and cosmic ray intensity(CRI), were analyzed to understand the solar activity modulations and short-term p.riodicities therein. Rieger-typ. and other short-term p.riods include the solar rotational p.riod that covers the maximum activity p.ase p.riod(maximum p.ase of solar cycle 24). The wavelet p.wer sp.ctra and p.riodogram of SSN, SSA, F10.7, MCI, FI, and CRI exhibited a significant short-term p.riod. The heliosp.eric effects exist for a p.rticular p.riod(～27 days) and they are related to the solar activity p.enomena. The cross-correlation coefficients and time lags between the CRI and solar activity p.rameters were estimated to be ～200, 46, 281, 39, and 47 days for SSN, SSA, F10.7, MCI, and FI resp.ctively during the time series 2012–2015(maximum p.ase of solar cycle 24).

The study revealed the develop.ent of cost effective technology utilized as a p.actical tool for treatment of seasonal torrent and addressing erosion p.oblems and land use *** was imp.emented in a small agricultural watershed located in foot hill of Shivalik,India,to assess its p.ediction cap.city of runoff,p.ak runoff flow and sediment *** effective technology was evaluated at the event scale by using a database of hydrological,geomorp.ologic and land use data collected during a two-year *** the catchment,the gullies which are small to medium in size were treated with gully p.ugging by erecting loose boulder check dams and erected with different sp.cies of *** typ.s of sp.r were constructed with vegetative reinforcement for channelization of stream *** sediments dep.sited in the first year at downstream was recorded 0.09-81.0 tons,while in the second year it was reduced up.to 0.07-16.7 ***,up.stream sediment dep.sition was recorded 1.0-72.0 tons and 0.37-13.1 tons in two consecutive *** D-50 analysis of sediment dep.sited was carried in three different p.aces of torrent and it was found that dep.sited p.rticle size material decreased after treatment undertaken in the torrent ***,the mechanical as well as vegetative measures help.d in the channelization of water course towards the central line with the tune of 10-100 m,stabilization of torrent bed and reclamation of degraded land.

Genetic Engineering of Field, Industrial and p.armaceutical Crop.

Ability to modify p.ants at the genomic level by advanced molecular technology has enhanced the scop. of imp.ovements in p.ant traits attemp.ed earlier through conventional breeding methods. Techniques such as genetic transformation have op.ned new vistas whereby functional genes, not commonly p.esent in a p.rticular sp.cies can be added from other sp.cies. The traits incorp.rated into the genetically engineered p.ants in the beginning were confined to those governed by dominant genes, e.g. insecticide resistance and herbicide tolerance but advancements with time now also p.rmit the transfer of comp.exly inherited traits such as drought and cold tolerance. Transgenic technology is also useful in understanding gene exp.ession and metabolic p.thways which can then be used to harness the full genomic p.tential of the p.ant. This review p.esents a narrative on develop.ent of transgenics and their use for the imp.ovement of field, industrial and p.armaceuticals crop.. Eocene lignites from Cambay basin, Western India： An excellent source of hydrocarbon

In the p.esent p.p.r lignites from the Cambay basin have been studied for their hydrocarbon *** samp.es were collected from three lignite fieldse Vastan, Rajp.rdi and Tadkeshwar, and were investigated by p.trograp.y, chemical analyses and Rock-Eval p.rolysis. The results are well comp.rable with the emp.rically derived values. The study reveals that these ‘low rank C＇ lignites are exceedingly rich in reactive macerals（huminite t lip.inite） while inertinite occurs in low concentration. These high volatile lignites generally have low ash yield excep. in few sections. The Rock-Eval data indicates the dominance of kerogen typ.-III with a little bit of typ.-II. The study reveals that the lignites of Vastan（lower and up.er seams） and Tadkeshwar up.er seam are more gas-p.one while Rajp.rdi and Tadkeshwar lower seams are oil-p.one. Further, the fixed hydrocarbons are several times higher than the free hydrocarbons. The relation between TOC and fixed hydrocarbon indicates that these lignites are excellent source rock for hydrocarbon which could be obtained mainly through thermal cracking. The emp.rically derived values reveal a high conversion（94e96%） and high oil yield（64e66%） for these lignites.
