Creation of New Global Land Cover Map with Map Integration

We present here a new approach to the development of a global land cover map. We combined three existing global land cover maps (MOD12, GLC2000, and UMD) based on the principle that the majority view prevails and validated the resulting map by using information collected as part of the Degree Confluence Project (DCP). We used field survey information gathered by DCP volunteers from 4211 worldwide locations to validate the new land cover map, as well as the three existing land cover maps that were combined to create it. Agreement between the DCP-derived information and the land cover maps was 61.3% for our new land cover map, 60.3% for MOD12, 58.9% for GLC2000, and 55.2% for UMD. Although some of the improvements we achieved were not statistically significant, this project has shown that an improved land cover map can be developed and well-validated globally using our method.

Prognostic factors in stage IB gastric cancer

AIM:To identify the subset of patients with stage IB gastric cancer with an unfavorable ***:Overall survival(OS)rates were examined in 103 patients with stage IB(T1N1M0 and T2N0M0)gastric cancer between January 2000 and *** and multivariate analyses were performed to identify risk factors using a Cox proportional hazards ***:The OS rates of patients with T1N1 and T2N0 cancer were 89.2%and 94.1%at 5-years,*** univariate and multivariate analyses demonstrated that tumor location was the only significant prognostic *** OS rate was 81.8%at5-years when the tumor was located in the upper third of the stomach and was 95.5%at 5-years when the tumor was located in the middle or lower third of the stomach(P=0.0093).CONCLUSION:These data may suggest that tumor location is associated with survival in patients with stage IB gastric cancer.

Dose escalation of external beam radiotherapy for high-risk prostate cancerdImpact of multiple high-risk factor

Objective:To retrospectively investigate the treatment outcomes of external beam radiotherapy with androgen deprivation therapy(ADT)in high-risk prostate cancer in three radiotherapy dose ***:Between 1998 and 2013,patients with high-risk prostate cancer underwent threedimensional conformal radiotherapy or intensity-modulated radiotherapy of 66 Gy,72 Gy,or 78 Gy with ***-specific antigen(PSA)relapse was defined using the Phoenix *** relapse-free survival(PRFS)was evaluated in each radiotherapy dose ***,high-risk patients were divided into H-1(patients with multiple high-risk factors)and H-2(patients with a single high-risk factor)as risk ***:Two hundred and eighty-nine patients with a median follow-up period of 77.3 months were analyzed in this *** median duration of ADT was 10.1 ***,Gleason score,T stage,and radiotherapy dose influenced PRFS with statistical significance both in univariate and multivariate *** 4-year PRFS rates in Group-66 Gy,Group-72 Gy and Group-78 Gy were 72.7%,81.6%and 90.3%,*** rates in the H-1 subgroup differed with statistical significance with an increasing radiotherapy dose having a more favorable PRFS,while PRFS rates in H-2 subgroup did not differ with increase in radiotherapy ***:Dose escalation for high-risk prostate cancer in combination with ADT improved *** for patients in the H-1 subgroup was poor,but dose escalation in those patients was beneficial,while dose escalation in the H-2 subgroup was not proven to be effective for improving PRFS.
