Viral hepatitis represents a major danger to public health,and is a globally leading cause of death.The five liver-specific viruses:Hepatitis A virus,hepatitis B virus,hepatitis C virus,hepatitis D virus,and hepatitis E virus,each have their own unique epidemiology,structural biology,transmission,endemic patterns,risk of liver complications,and response to antiviral therapies.There remain few options for treatment,in spite of the increasing prevalence of viral-hepatitiscaused liver disease.Furthermore,chronic viral hepatitis is a leading worldwide cause of both liver-related morbidity and mortality,even though effective treatments are available that could reduce or prevent most patients’complications.In 2016,the World Health Organization released its plan to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat by the year 2030,along with a discussion of current gaps and prospects for both regional and global eradication of viral hepatitis.Today,treatment is sufficiently able to prevent the disease from reaching advanced phases.However,future therapies must be extremely safe,and should ideally limit the period of treatment necessary.A better understanding of pathogenesis will prove beneficial in the development of potential treatment strategies targeting infections by viral hepatitis.This review aims to summarize the current state of knowledge on each type of viral hepatitis,together with major innovations.

Probing CO at a specific site on a metal oxide surface is essential for characterizing various applications such as CO oxidation,hydrogenation,and water–gas shift reaction.Herein,we use atomic force microscopy and Kelvin probe force microscopy to probe the CO on a rutile TiO_(2)(110)surface.Our results indicate that CO can be manipulated along the Ti row by the repulsive lateral force of“pushing”mode.Furthermore,the joint combination of precise manipulation and the distance dependence of local contact potential difference allow us to resolve the interatomic dipole moment and charge state of CO at atomic resolution.Therefore,we found that the negatively charged CO with the dipole moment of negative pole down on the rutile TiO_(2)(110)surface.Our results suppose that both the charge state as well as the on-surface dipole interaction are very effective for CO reaction on rutile TiO_(2)(110)surface.

AIM: To investigate whether semi-vegetarian diet (SVD) has a preventive effect against relapse of Crohn’s disease (CD) in patients who have achieved remission,who are a high-risk group for relapse.METHODS: A prospective,single center,2-year clinical trial was conducted.Twenty-two adult CD patients who achieved clinical remission either medically (n = 17) or surgically (n = 5) and consumed an SVD during hospitalization were advised to continue with an SVD and avoid known high-risk foods for inflammatory bowel disease.The primary endpoint was clinical relapse defi ned as the appearance of active symptoms of CD.Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used to calculate the cumulative proportion of patients who had a relapse.A 2-year analysis of relapse rates of patients who followed an SVD and those who did not (an omnivorous diet group) was undertaken.RESULTS: SVD was continued by 16 patients (compliance 73%).Remission was maintained in 15 of 16 patients (94%) in the SVD group vs two of six (33%)in the omnivorous group.Remission rate with SVD was 100% at 1 year and 92% at 2 years.SVD showed signif icant prevention in the time to relapse compared to that in the omnivorous group (P = 0.0003,log rank test).The concentration of C-reactive protein was normal at the f inal visit in more than half of the patients in remission who were taking an SVD,who maintained remission during the study (9/15;60%),who terminated follow-up (8/12;67%),and who completed 2 years follow-up (7/10;70%).There was no untoward effect of SVD.CONCLUSION: SVD was highly effective in preventing relapse in CD.

A model specimen with a single boundary of theα/βphase simulating Mg-Al alloys was successfully fabricated by spark plasma sintering.A small electrode area ofαphase orβphase was prepared using the model specimen,and the OCPs(open-circuit potentials)of each phase and a small electrode area containing theα/βphase boundary in 0.1 M NaCl at pH 8.0 were compared:theβphase exhibited a higher potential,and theαphase showed a lower potential.The OCP of the small area containing theα/βphase boundary was the intermediate value of these phases.In a small area containingα/βphase boundary,discoloration and gas bubbles were observed on theαphase,but no bubble generation was detected on theβphase.The gas bubbles were initially generated on theαphase near theβphase,but as the discoloration(corrosion)of theαphase approached theβphase,the bubbles were generated on theβphase.In micro-galvanic corrosion of theαandβphases,theβphase did not always function as the preferred cathode.Theαphase partially corroded(or discolored)and became the anodes,so that the surrounding areas were most likely to be the cathodes.When corroded areas(anodes)in theαphase approached theβphase,theβphase would become cathodes.In addition to the micro-galvanic corrosion mechanism,the role of Al in corrosion resistance at theα/βphase boundary was determined by surface analysis.

AIM:To compare the surgical outcomes of a multifocal intraocular lens(IOL;Lentis Comfort LS-313 MF15)with those of an enhanced monofocal IOL(Tecnis Eyhance DIB00V).METHODS:This retrospective study included patients who underwent cataract surgery with LS-313 MF15 or Eyhance IOL implantation.Data regarding patient demographics,surgical records,and ophthalmic examination before the cataract surgery and one and three months postoperatively were collected.Visual acuities,refractive values,defocus curves,contrast sensitivities and subjective symptoms were evaluated.RESULTS:Among the 71 eyes(47 patients)included in this study,32 eyes(20 patients)underwent LS-313 MF15 IOL implantation,and 39 eyes(27 patients)underwent Eyhance IOL implantation.No significant differences were observed in age,axial length,or refractive error between the two groups preoperatively.Furthermore,the distancecorrected and uncorrected distance visual acuities one month postoperatively did not differ between the groups,and both groups had sufficient visual acuities at the distances of 5,1 m,70,50,and 30 cm.Other ophthalmic data,including subjective symptoms based on the 14-item Visual Function Index Questionnaire,monocular defocus curves,contrast sensitivities,and halo and glare,did not differ between the groups three months postoperatively.Moreover,both groups had good outcomes.The spherical equivalent one month postoperatively was significantly myopic in the LS-313 MF15 group compared with that in the Eyhance group(P=0.033);however,this difference was not observed three months postoperatively(P=0.471).CONCLUSION:Comparison of the surgical outcomes of LS-313 MF15 with those of Eyhance with different optical properties reveal that both IOLs show good postoperative outcomes,with no significant differences being noted between the two IOLs.

This paper dealt with composite scheduling problems which combine manufacturing scheduling problems and/or transportation routing problems.Two scheduling models were formulated as the elements of the composite scheduling model,and the composite model was formulated composing these models with indispensable additional constraints.A hybrid genetic algorithm was developed to solve the composite scheduling problems.An improved representation based on random keys was developed to search permutation space.A genetic algorithm based dynamic programming approach was applied to select resource.The proposed technique and a previous technique are compared by three types of problems.All results indicate that the proposed technique is superior to the previous one.

A novel carbonaceous adsorbent for heavy metal removal was prepared from raw coal by one-step simple sulfur impregnation using K2S. Raw coal was mixed with K2S powder and then heated at 800℃ for 30 min in nitrogen to produce K2S char. The sulfur content and form in K2S char were determined, and the ability of K2S char to adsorb Zn^2＋, Cd^2＋ and Pb^2＋ was examined. The K2S impregnation was effective at impregnating sulfur into coal, especially in the form of elemental, thiophenic and sulfatic sulfur. The sulfur content of K2S char was higher than those of raw coal and pyrolysis char. The Zn^2＋ removal in 2.4 mmol/L of Zn^2＋ solution by K2S char was higher than raw coal with the removal rate of 100%. K2S char adsorbed Pb^2＋ and Cd^2＋ in 24 mmol/L of Pb^2＋ and Cd^2＋ solution with the removal rate of 97% and 35%, respectively. The elution extents of adsorbed Pb^2＋ and Cd^2＋ were zero in distilled water and 27% in 0.1 mol/L HCl solution. These results indicated that an effective adsorbent for heavy metal ions was prepared from coal using K2S sulfur impregnation, and that the adsorbed metals were strongly retained in K2S char.
