This work aims to present and explore thermal management techniques for the wire arc additive manufacturing(WAAM)of IN718 *** heat can be mitigated via air or water *** this study,the material was deposited under four different heat-input conditions with air or water *** air cooling,the layer is deposited in a normal atmospheric air environment,whereas with water cooling,the material is deposited inside a water tank by varying the water *** validate the air and water cooling thermal management techniques,IN718 single-pass and multilayer linear walls were deposited using the bidirectional gas metal arc welding based WAAM setup under four different heat input *** the deposition of single layers,the temperature profiles were recorded,and the geometric and microstructural features were *** multilayer wall structures,the mechanical properties(hardness,tensile strength,and elongation)were determined and assessed using the corresponding microstructural features explored through scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS),and electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)*** microstructure observed through SEM analysis in the building direction was found to be nonhomogenous compared with that in the deposition ***,water cooling was found to govern bead characteristics,such as wall width and *** grain size and anisotropy of the mechanical properties also decreased in the water-cooled ***,water cooling is an economical and efficient method to mitigate excessive heat accumulation in WAAM-deposited IN718.

Numerical investigation of the effect of transitory strand opening on mixing in a multistrand tundish

In a multistrand,the outlet near the inlet produces short circuiting *** leads to the formation of dead zones inside the tundish,and consequently,the mean residence time *** the present study,numerical investigation of mixing inside a delta shaped tundish with sloping boundaries was carried out by solving the Navier-Stokes equation and employing the standard turbulence *** decrease the dead zone volume inside the tundish,the effect of closing the outlet near the inlet for a small amount of time and further opening it on the mixing behavior of the tundish was *** outlets near the inlet were closed for varying amount of time,and the transient analysis of fluid flow and the tracer dispersion study were carried out to find the mixing parameters of the tundish,namely,mean residence time and the ratio of mixed to dead volume of the *** optimum closure time of the near outlet has been found,which yields best mixing inside the *** numerical code was validated against the experimental observation by performing the tracer dispersion study inside a multistrand tundish and the reasonably good match between the experimental and numerical results in terms of residence time distribution （RTD） *** results obtained from the present study confirm the strong role of choosing the right time for opening and closing the outlets to get improved characteristics for the fluid flow and mixing behavior of the *** educational version of computational fluid dynamics （CFD） software PHOENICS was used to solve the governing equations and interpret the results in different forms.

Association of periodontal disease with glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes in Indian population

This study aims to investigate the link between glycated hemoglobin and diabetic complications with chronic periodontitis. A total of 207 patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic periodontitis （CP） were divided according to tertiles of mean PISA （periodontal inflamed surface area） scores as low, middle and high PISA groups. Simultaneously a group of 67 periodontally healthy individuals （PH） was recruited. Periodontal examinations, including full-mouth assessment of probing depths （PPD）, bleeding on probing, clinical attachment level and plaque scores were determined. Blood analyses were carried out for glycated hemoglobin （HbA1c）, fasting plasma glucose （FPG）, 2 h post parandial glucose （PPG）. Individuals in PH group had significantly better glycemic control than CP group. Upon one-way analysis of variance, subjects with increased PISA had significantly higher HbA1c levels, retinopathy and nephropathy （P 〈 0.05）. After controlling for age, gender, body mass index （BMI）, socioeconomic status （SES）, family history of diabetes and periodontitis, duration of diabetes, the mean PISA in mm^2, PPD 4-6 mm （%） and PPD ≥7 mm （%） emerged as significant predictors for elevated HbAlc in regression model （P 〈 0.05）. Logistic regression analysis revealed that PISA was associated with higher risk of having retinopathy and neuropathy （odds ratio）. In our study, the association between glycemic control and diabetic complications with periodontitis was observed.

A Hybrid Offline-Online Approach to Adaptive Downlink Resource Allocation Over LTE

Radio resource management mechanisms in current and future wireless networks is expected to face an enormous challenge due to the ever increasing demand for bandwidth and latency sensitive applications on mobile devices. This is because an optimal resource allocation scheme which attempts to multiplex the available bandwidth in order to maximize Quality of service(QoS), will pose an exponential computational burden at eNodeB. In order to minimize such computational overhead, this work proposes a hybrid offline-online resource allocation strategy which effectively allocates all the available resources among flows such that their QoS requirements are satisfied. The flows are firstly classified into priority buckets based on real-time criticality factors. During the offline phase, the scheduler attempts to maintain the system load within a pre-specified safe threshold value by selecting an appropriate number of buckets. This offline selection procedure makes use of supervisory control theory of discrete event systems to synthesize an offline scheduler. Next, we have devised an online resource allocation strategy which runs on top of the offline policy and attempts to minimize the impact of the inherent variability in wireless networks. Simulation results show that the proposed scheduling framework is able to provide satisfactory QoS to all end users in most practical scenarios.

The maximum demand of power utilization is increasing exponentially from base load to peak load in day to day *** power demand may be either industrial usage or household *** meet this high maximum power demand by the consumer,one of the options is the integration of renewable energy resources with conventional power generation *** the present scenario,wind energy system is one of the methods to generate power in connection with the conventional power *** the load on the conventional grid system increases,various bus voltages of the system tend to decrease,causing serious voltage drop or voltage instability within the *** view of this,identification of weak buses within the system has become *** paper presents the line indices method to identify these weak buses,so that some corrective action may be taken to compensate for this drop in *** attempt has been made to compensate these drops in voltages by integration of renewable energy *** wind energy system at one of the bus in the test system is integrated and the performance of the system is verified by calculating the power flow(PF)using the power system analysis tool box(PSAT)and line indices of the integrated test *** PF and load flow results are used to calculate line indices for the IEEE-14 bus test system which is simulated on PSAT.

In this paper,we have characterized the sum of two general measures associated with two distributions with discrete random *** of these measures is logarithmic,while others contains the power of variables,named as joint representation of Renyi’s-Tsallis divergence ***,we propose a divergence measure based on Jensen-Renyi’s-Tsallis entropy which is known as a Jensen-Renyi’s-Tsallis divergence *** is a generalization of J-divergence information *** of the silent features of this measure is that we can allot the equal weight to each probability *** makes it specifically reasonable for the study of decision problems,where the weights could be the prior ***,the idea has been generalized from probabilistic to fuzzy similarity/dissimilarity *** the validation of the proposed measure,some of its key properties are also ***,the performance of the proposed measure is contrasted with some existing *** last,some illustrative examples are solved in the context of clustering analysis,financial diagnosis and pattern recognition which demonstrate the practicality and adequacy of the proposed measure between two fuzzy sets(FSs).

Estimation of composite load model with aggregate induction motor dynamic load for an isolated hybrid power system

It is well recognized that the voltage stability of a power system is affected by the load model and hence, to effectively analyze the reactive power compensation of an isolated hybrid wind-diesel based power system, the loads need to be considered along with the generators in a transient analysis. This paper gives a detailed mathematical modeling to compute the reactive power response with small voltage perturbation for composite load. The composite load is a combination of the static and dynamic load model. To develop this composite load model, the exponential load is used as a static load model and induction motors （IMs） are used as a dynamic load model. To analyze the dynamics of IM load, the fifth, third and first order model of IM are formulated and compared using differential equations solver in Matlab coding. Since the decentralized areas have many small consumers which may consist large numbers of IMs of small rating, it is not realistic to model either a single large rating unit or all small rating IMs together that are placed in the system. In place of using a single large rating IM, a group of motors are considered and then the aggregate model of IM is developed using the law of energy conservation. This aggregate model is used as a dynamic load model. For different simulation studies, especially in the area of voltage stability with reactive power compensation of an isolated hybrid power system, the transfer function AQ/AV of the composite load is required. The transfer function of the composite load is derived in this paper by successive derivation for the exponential model of static load and for the fifth and third order IM dynamic load model using state space model.
