Oesophageal carcinoma mimicking a submucosal lesion: A case report

BACKGROUND Oesophageal cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer-related deaths in *** squamous cell carcinomas(ESCCs)arise from the epithelial layer,and commonly present as polypoidal,ulcerative or ulceroproliferative growth in the oesophageal *** contrast,oesophageal submucosal tumours are a distinct group of tumours arising from the mesenchyme(examples include leiomyoma,fibrovasculoma,lipoma,granular cell tumour or carcinoid),and mostly do not breach the *** submucosal tumours are a distinct group of tumours arising from the mesenchyme,and mostly do not breach the *** intramural growth of an advanced primary ESCC is an exceedingly rare presentation,with only six cases reported in the literature thus *** herein report a case of primary ESCC with complete intramural invasion that endoscopically mimics a submucosal *** SUMMARY A 50 year old male presented with a progressive mechanical type of dysphagia for one *** history was significant,including squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue that was treated with surgery and chemoradiation 1 year *** gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed a large,hemispherical lesion with normalappearing overlying mucosa about 4 cm×5 cm in size extending from 30-34 cm from *** patient underwent endoscopic ultrasound(EUS),and a fineneedle biopsy was performed,which was suggestive for squamous cell *** herein report a case of primary ESCC with complete intramural invasion,endoscopically mimicking a submucosal *** diagnosis could be established only by a EUS-guided *** This case report highlights that intramural ESCC may look like a submucosal lesion in endoscopy,and EUS biopsy is needed for final diagnosis.

Wet-spun poly(ionic liquid)-graphene hybrid fibers for high performance all-solid-state flexible supercapacitors

It is crucial to develop flexible and wearable electronic devices that have attracted tremendous interest due to their merits on compactness,flexibility and high capacitive *** we report the continuously ordered macroscopic poly(ionic liquid)-graphene fibers by wet spinning method via liquid crystal assembly for supercapacitor *** fabricated all-solid-state supercapacitors exhibited a high areal capacitance(268.2 mF cm 2)and volumetric capacitance(204.6 F cm 3)with an outstanding areal energy density(9.31μWh cm-2)and volumetric energy density(8.28 mWh cm-3).The fiber supercapacitors demonstrated exceptional cycle life for straight electrodes of about 10,000 cycles(94.2%capacitance retention)and flexibility at different angles(0°,45°,90°,180°)along with a good flexible cycling stability after 6000 cycles(92.7%capacitance retention).To date,such a novel poly(ionic liquid)-graphene fiber supercapacitors would be a new platform in real-time flexible electronics.

A novel wet-spinning method of manufacturing continuous bio-inspired composites based on graphene oxide and sodium alginate

Nacre is a lightweight, strong, stiff, and tough material, which makes it a mimicking object for material design. Many attempts to mimic nacre by various methods resulted in the synthesis of artificial nacre with excellent properties. However, the fabrication procedure was very laborious and time-consuming due to the sequential steps, and only limited-sized materials could be obtained. Hence, a novel design enabling scalable production of high-performance artificial nacre with uniform layered structures is urgently needed. We developed a novel wet-spinning assembly technique to rapidly manufacture continuous nacre- mimic graphene oxide （GO, brick）-sodium alginate （SA, mortar） films and fibers with excellent mechanical properties. At high concentrations, the GO-SA mixtures spontaneously produced liquid crystals （LCs） due to the template effect of GO, and continuous, 6 m long nacre-like GO-SA films were wet-spun from the obtained GO-SA liquid crystalline （LC） dope with a speed of up to 1.5 m/min. The assembled macroscopic GO-SA composites inherited the alignment of the GO sheets from the LC phase, and their mechanical properties were investigated by a joint experimental-computational study. The tensile tests revealed that the maximum strength （0） and Young＇s modulus （E） of the obtained films reached 239.6 MPa and 22.4 GPa, while the maximum values of o and E for the fibers were 784.9 MPa and 58 GPa, respectively. The described wet-spinning assembly method is applicable for a large-scale and fast production of high-performance continuous artificial nacre.

Normalizing the Arm Reaching Patterns after Stroke through Forced Use Therapy– A Systematic Review

Hemiparesis is common following stroke. The ability to reach and grasp is a necessary component of many daily life functional tasks, hence reduced upper limb function has an impact on the ability to perform activities of daily living. In hemiparetic patients, the unrestricted and unguided repetition of a motor task may reinforce compensatory movements. Trunk restraint allowed the patients to use joint ranges that were present but not recruited during unrestrained reaching. Later, studies combined the trunk restraint training with additional therapeutic interventions. With the growing number of studies on this intervention in the stroke population, there is the need to consolidate this evidence to determine the potential use of trunk restraint training in improving arm reaching in neurological rehabilitation particularly for stroke patients. A considerable research effort had assessed the effects of trunk restraint training on the recovery of reaching movements in hemiparetic patients. This review identified 5 relevant trials in which one trial is a pilot study. Among 5 trials, three trials recorded the movement kinematics (outcome measure) by Optotrak Motion analysis System, in the other two trials the movement kinematics (outcome measure) were analysed by a 6 – camera, 3D Motion analysis system and 10 – camera Motion Analysis System respectively. The effect size for the intervention was calculated by Cohen’s d. In this review, for the meta-analysis we used trunk displacement, trunk flexion, elbow extension, Smoothness and hand trajectory straightness (movement variables in kinematic analysis). The results of our review demonstrated that the use of trunk restraint as a treatment paradigm aimed at decreasing compensatory strategies has the potential of becoming an effective therapy. Further studies are necessary to determine the long term effect of the trunk restraint training.

Fractionalization of a Class of Semi-Linear Differential Equations

The dynamics of a fractionalized semi-linear scalar differential equation is considered with a Caputo fractional derivative. By using a symbolic operational method, a fractional order initial value problem is converted into an equivalent Volterra integral equation of second kind. A brief discussion is included to show that the fractional order derivatives and integrals incorporate a fading memory (also known as long memory) and that the order of the fractional derivative can be considered to be an index of memory. A variation of constants formula is established for the fractionalized version and it is shown by using the Fourier integral theorem that this formula reduces to that of the integer order differential equation as the fractional order approaches an integer. The global existence of a unique solution and the global Mittag-Leffler stability of an equilibrium are established by exploiting the complete monotonicity of one and two parameter Mittag-Leffler functions. The method and the analysis employed in this article can be used for the study of more general systems of fractional order differential equations.

This review aims to identify in vivo studies investigating the potential of plant substances and their natural molecules in managing inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Specifically,the objective is to examine the impact of these substances on interleukins and other key inflammatory signaling *** articles published up to December 2022 were identified through a search of the PubMed,Scopus,Web of Science,and Embase *** search used keywords including“inflammatory bowel disease”,“medicinal plants”,“natural molecules”,“anti-inflammatory”,and“ulcerative colitis”,and identified 1,878 potentially relevant articles,of which 89 were included in this review after completion of the selection *** study provides preclinical data on natural products(NPs)that can potentially treat IBD,including ulcerative *** main actions of these NPs relate to their effects on nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κβ),the Janus kinase(JAK)/signal transducer and activator of transcription(STAT)signaling pathway,the regulation of T helper 17/regulatory T cells balance,and oxidative *** ability of these NPs to inhibit intestinal inflammation appears to be dependent on lowering levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α),interleukin(IL)-1β,and IL-17,via the Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK)1,NF-κβ-p65,and STAT3 *** addition,NPs were shown to reduce oxidative stress and the severity of ulcerative colitis,as well as increase the activity of antioxidant *** actions suggest that NPs represent a promising treatment for IBD,and potentially have greater efficacy and safety than current treatments.
