Quantitative Application to a Polypill by the Development of Stability Indicating LC Method for the Simultaneous Estimation of Aspirin, Atorvastatin, Atenolol and Losartan Potassium

Polypill is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) containing three or more drugs in a single pill with the intention of reducing the number of tablets or capsules that need to be tak.n. Developing a single analytical method for the estimation of individual drugs in a Polypill is very challenging, due to the formation of drug-drug and drug-excipients interaction impurities. Here an attempt was made to develop a new, sensitive, single stability-indicating HPLC method for the simultaneous quantitative determination of Aspirin (ASP) Atorvastatin (ATV), Atenolol (ATL) and Losartan potassium (LST) in a polypill form in the presence of degradation products. Efficient chromatographic separation was achieved on a C18 stationary phase with simple mobile phase combination of buffer and Acetonitrile. Buffer consists of 0.1% Orthophosphoric acid (pH 2.9), delivered in a gradient mode and quantitation was carried out using ultraviolet detection at 230 nm with a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. The retention times of Atenolol, Aspirin, Losartan potassium, and Atorvastatin were 3.3, 7.6, 10.7 and 12.9 min respectively. The combination drug product are exposed to thermal, acid/base hydrolytic, humidity and oxidative stress conditions, and the stressed samples were analyzed by proposed method. The method was validated with respect to linearity;the method was linear in the range of 37.5 to 150.0 μg/mL for ASP, 5.0 to 20.0 μg/mL for ATV and 25.0 to 100.0 μg/mL for ATL and LST. Acceptable precision and accuracy were obtained for concentrations over the standard curve ranges. The validated method was successfully applied to the analysis of Starpill tablets constituting all the four drugs;the percentage recoveries obtained were 99.60% for ASP, 99.30% for ATV, 99.41% for ATL and 99.62% for LST.

Extracellular polymeric substances(EPS)are present externally to the microorganisms and play an important role in attachment and biofilm *** polymers possess antibacterial and antifouling *** this study,the antifouling activity of EPS produced by an epibiotic bacterium associated with macroalga Ulva lactuca was assessed against fouling bacteria and barnacle *** indicate that the EPS isolated from the epibiotic bacterium inhibits the biofilm formation of the bacteria without much antibacterial ***,the EPS reduced the settlement of barnacle larvae on the hard substrate under laboratory *** epibiotic bacterium was identified as k.curia flava based on 16 S rRNA gene *** EPS was further analysed using Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR),nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)and X-ray diffraction(XRD)to understand the biochemical *** analysis revealed the presence of polysaccharides,proteins,acetyl amine and succinyl *** electron microscope analysis indicated that the EPS consisted of aggregated and irregular sphere-shaped particles.

Biodiversity and seasonal variation of benthic macrofauna in Minicoy Island, Lak.hadweep,India

From the Indian coast only limited data are available on the benthic fauna of the seagrass communities. In this study, seasonal variation in the distribution of macrobenthos and influence of environmental parameters was explored at four seagrass beds and two mangrove stations along the Minicoy Island, Lak.hadweep, India, from September 1999 to August 2001. A total of 160 macrobenthic species from eight major groups represented the macrofauna of the Minicoy Island. Of the identified taxa, molluscs 70（gastropods 41.46%, bivalves 7.5%）, polychaetes 27（16.88%）, crustaceans 30（18.75%）, echinoderms 11（6.88%） and remaining others. Average seasonal abundance of benthic macrofauna ranged from 219 to 711 ind./m2, species diversity varied from 1.45 to 3.64 bits per individual, species richness index ranged from 4.01 to 26.17, evenness 0.69 to 1.66. In general, the higher abundance and species diversity was noticed in southern seagrass stations and northern seagrass stations, but in the mangrove stations comparatively low species diversity was observed. Three-way analysis of variance indicated that all communities resulted as being significantly different between seagrass and mangrove station, mainly when the seasonal interaction was considered. Multivariate analyses were employed to help define benthic characteristic and the relationship between environmental parameters at the six monitoring stations. Results of cluster analyses and multidimensional scale plot suggest that for mangrove region, different physiographic provinces, lower salinity, dissolved oxygen and sediment biotic structure have a higher influence on the species composition and diversity than other oceanographic conditions.

In a multi-stage manufacturing system,defective components are generated due to deteriorating machine parts and failure to install the feed *** these circumstances,the system requires inspection counters to distinguish imperfect items and tak.s a few discreet decisions to produce impeccable *** the prioritisation of employee appreciation and work.ng on reward is one of the important policies to improve *** we look.at the multistage manufacturing system as an M/PH/1 queue model and rewards are given for using certain inspection strategies to produce the quality items.A matrix analytical method is proposed to explain a continuous-time Mark.v process in which the reward points are given to the strategy of inspection in each state of the *** constructing the value functions of this dynamic programming model,we derive the optimal policy and the optimal average reward of the entire system in the long *** addition,we obtain the percentage of time spent on each system state for the probability of conformity and non-conformity of the product over the long *** results of our computational experiments and case study suggest that the average reward increases due to the actions are tak.n at each decision epoch for rework.and disposal of the non-conformity items.
