Integrated Disaster Risk Management(IDRM):Elements to Advance Its Study and Assessment

This study analyzed the international key literature on integrated disaster risk management(IDRM),considering it a dynamic sociocultural process subjected to the historical process of social formation,offering a closer look at the concept while exploring conceptual elements and ideas to advance IDRM in both national and international ***,the study adopted a literature review strategy,following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and MetaAnalyses(PRISMA)approach,combined with qualitative content *** article examines the history of IDRM,discusses current challenges for implementation,looks at some experiences,and proposes avenues for further *** findings point out the lack of an overarching IDRM approach,which is characterized by a rather disperse set of ideas and experiences concerning what IDRM is and how it should be operationalized,thereby revealing the need for a more comprehensive theory and methodologies to further advance *** findings highlight that IDRM encompasses different kinds and levels of"integrations"that go from internal(that is,disaster risk reduction and management domains)to external(that is,all societal processes such as sustainable development),including temporal and spatial ***,we are talking about a multidimensional integration of disaster risk *** this regard,the article proposes four dimensions for integration:sectoral,spatial/hierarchical,temporal,and externally with other cross-cutting societal challenges,especially climate change and sustainable *** dimensions cover 29 ideas for indicators or"proto-indicators"to guide the discussion,exploration,and analysis of IDRM in specific contexts.

Abstract: A stream - lined assay has beem developed for the determination of monosaccharides and oligosaccharides (free sugars), starch,soluble and insoluble non-starch polysaccharides of cereals and cereal products on a one-sample basis. After extraction of the free sugars with 80% ethanol,the sample is extracted in acetate buffer(pH 5. 0)with highyspecific(α-amylase and amyloglucosidase to degrade the starch,at the same time the non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) are fractioned into soluble and insoluble fractions. An aliquot from the supernatant containing the glucose released from starch is taken and analysed for starch using a glucose - oxidase/peroxidase method. The free sugars, soluble and insolubleNSP are then hydrolysed with acids and the released monosaccharides are reduced and acetylated. The resulting alditol acetates are accurately quantified using GC fitted with a capillary column in addition to accurately quantifying each ofthe monosaccharide constituents of the NSP,the procedure also gives accuratevalues for starch and free sugars.

1931年.中国营造学社的创始人朱启钤,接纳恩斯特·鲍希曼成为学社的一员。1934年,鲍希曼在南京与联合政府的一些成员讨论到古迹保护的问题。鲍希曼就这个主题做了记录.并通过滕固将之带入讨论.滕固是一位就职于南京共和政府的、有德国教育背景的艺术史家。鲍希曼还为两座古迹的保护准备了提案——南京附近的梁墓和西安附近的善导塔。1934年,他与作为建筑师和艺术史家的夏昌世一起游历了中国。在北京,鲍希曼遇到了朱启钤和建筑历史学家梁思成和刘敦桢。他称赞他们的工作,并提出合作研究的希望.但此愿最终抱憾。在与同济大学校长翁之龙的讨论中,鲍希曼提出建筑教育的建立应注重历史古迹的记录。1937年.在鲍希曼回到德国之后,南京联合政府授予他一枚玉勋章,以感谢他在中国建筑记录方面的终身成就。1937年中日战争爆发之后.所有的田野调查都中断了,恩斯特·鲍希曼在德国致力于已收集资料的研究,未与中国同行进行直接交流。

Depending on the magnitude and nature of a disaster,identifying the victims can be a complex task that requires coordinated work by disaster victim identification(DVI)teams based on pre-established ***,the analysis of fingerprints has been presented as a method to establish,when possible,the identity of the victims during the DVI *** study discusses the importance of this primary method of identification and the results obtained in four different disasters in which Brazilian DVI teams were involved:the Air France flight AF447 plane crash in the Atlantic Ocean,floods and mudslides in the State of Rio de Janeiro,Brazil,the LaMia flight 2933 plane crash in Colombia,and the tailings dam collapse in Brumadinho,***,we also report the use of the automatic fingerprint capture and identification system,called Alethia,developed by the Federal Police of Brazil and used in the victim identification process in the two latter events mentioned above.

High‐temperature superconductors are a powerful technological option to be applied in the current scenario of energy *** applications include fault current limiters,power electrical cables,and electrical machines,for *** to the non‐linearities of superconductors,it is computationally costly to run real models of superconducting ***,it is of paramount importance to have a reliable and fast formulation to model superconducting *** paper proposes a new hybrid J‐A formulation to simulate superconducting *** new formulation is validated with 5 case studies,some of which are *** J‐A formulation agrees in all cases and has a smaller computation time when compared with the T‐A ***,due to the simple implementation,the proposed formulation allows the possibility of running the J and A formulations in the same order and presents itself as a potential feature to speed up and help the design of the superconducting devices.

In this paper we present a nonmonotone trust region algorithm for general nonlinear constrained optimization problems. The main idea of this paper is to combine Yuan's technique[1] with a nonmonotone method similar to Ke and Han [2]. This new algorithm may not only keep the robust properties of the algorithm given by Yuan, but also have some advantages led by the nonmonotone technique. Under very mild conditions, global convergence for the algorithm is given. Numerical experiments demonstrate the efficiency of the algorithm.

With the pursuit of new cancer therapies and more effective treatment to diseases in the last decades, nanotechnology has been an important ally for healthcare professionals and patients in critical clinical conditions. Nanomaterials offer an alternative way to deliver toxic chemotherapeutic drugs to specific biological tissues, specific cells or specific microbial beings, resulting in avoidance of strong side effects or resilience to effective drugs. Among these materials, stands out the hydroxyapatite nanoparticles, a ceramic class of calcium phosphates that present chemical and structural similarities with the mineral phase of the human skeleton’s bone matrix, resulting in important biological features, such as biocompatibility, osteoconductive, osteoinduction and osteoaffinity, which led to a lot of scientific researches to apply these nanoparticles for bone diseases diagnosis and therapeutics. Due to the hydroxyapatite biological activities and due to the possibility to promote chemical and physical modifications in these nanoparticles, they can interact with biological cells or microorganisms in different ways, resulting in multiple potentialities to be explored such as apoptosis induction to cancerous cells, osteogenesis promotion, cellular proliferation, angiogenesis and tissue recovery, in addition to promote cell adhesion and cell uptake. Furthermore, chemical and physical modifications, such as surface functionalization, dopant inclusions and radiolabeling process, allow scientists to track the particle activities in biological environments. In the last decades of scientific productions, the literature brings together important data on how hydroxyapatite nanoparticles interact with biological tissues and such data are crucial for the development of more effective therapeutic and diagnostic agents.
