BACKGROUND Nutrition recommendations in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2Dm)are to consume rye or integral bread instead of white bread.A positive effect on glucoregulation has been achieved by enriching food with various biologically active substances of herbal origin,so we formulated an herbal mixture that can be used as a supplement for a special type of bread(STB)to achieve better effects on postprandial glucose and insulin levels in patients with *** To compare organoleptic characteristics and effects of two types of bread on postprandial glucose and insulin levels in T2Dm *** This trial included 97 patients with T2Dm.A parallel group of 16 healthy subjects was also *** participants were given 50 g of rye bread and the same amount of a STB with an herbal mixture on 2 consecutive *** blood glucose and insulin levels were compared at the 30^(th),60^(th),90^(th) and 120th min.A questionnaire was used for subjective estimation of the organoleptic and satiety features of the two types of *** Compared to patients who consumed rye bread,significantly lower postprandial blood glucose and insulin concentrations were found in T2Dm patients who consumed *** relevant differences were found among the healthy *** estimated organoleptic and satiety characteristics are better for STB than for rye *** STB have better effects than rye bread on postprandial glucoregulation in T2Dm *** estimated organoleptic and satiety characteristics are better for STB than for rye ***,STB can be recommended for nutrition in T2Dm patients.

microtubule as a Transmission Line for Ionic Currents

We establish a new model for ionic waves along microtubules based on polyelectrolyte features of cylindrical biopolymers. The nonlinear transmission line described by a nonlinear differential equation is obtained with stable kink solution pertinent to the shape of the front of accompanying potential. The localized ionic wave could be used to explain the behavior of microtubules as biomolecular transistors capable of amplifying electrical information in neurons.

The common assumption that precision is the limit of accuracy in localization microscopy and the typical absence of comprehensive calibration of optical microscopes lead to a widespread issue—overconfidence in measurement results with nanoscale statistical uncertainties that can be invalid due to microscale systematic *** this article,we report a comprehensive solution to this underappreciated *** develop arrays of subresolution apertures into the first reference materials that enable localization errors approaching the atomic scale across a submillimeter *** present novel methods for calibrating our microscope system using aperture arrays and develop aberration corrections that reach the precision limit of our reference *** correct and register localization data from multiple colors and test different sources of light emission with equal accuracy,indicating the general applicability of our reference materials and calibration *** a first application of our new measurement capability,we introduce the concept of critical-dimension localization microscopy,facilitating tests of nanofabrication processes and quality control of aperture *** a second application,we apply these stable reference materials to answer open questions about the apparent instability of fluorescent nanoparticles that commonly serve as fiducial *** study establishes a foundation for subnanometer localization accuracy in widefield optical microscopy.

The Choice Between Three Simple methods for Glomerular Filtration Rate Assessment in Different Stages of Chronic Parenchymal Renal Diseases

Glomerular filtration rate （GFR） can be measured （mGFR） after intravenous application of indicators that are eliminated by kidneys or estimated （eGFR） using mathematic equations. We have compared eGFR obtained by the chronic kidney diseases epidemiology collaboration （CKD-EPI） and the modification of diet in renal disease （mDRD） Study equations with GFR measured by technetium-99m diethylene triamine penta-acetic acid （99m^Te-DTPA） renal clearance in different stages of renal diseases in order that obtained results may contribute to more adequate choice of methods for the GFR assessment in relation to the type and stage of kidney disease. The study included a total of 189 participants with diabetes mellitus （Dm）, glomerulonephritis （GN）, Balkan endemic nephropathy （BEN） and healthy subjects. 99m^Tc-DTPA clearance （ml/min/1.73 m^2） was calculated from the regression equation based on high correlation between distribution volume of radiopharmaceutical and clearance values obtained by multiple blood samples. For blood sample taken at 3 h and 4 h, clearance was calculated according to the equations： y = -0.0128x^2 ＋ 3.077x - 30.3, and y = -0.00628x^2 ＋ 2.066x - 19.3, where y is clearance, and x is distribution volume. mDRD-GFR （ml/min/l.73 m2） was calculated from equation： 186 × Scr^-1154 × age^-0.203 × 0.742 if female. CKD-EPI-GFR was calculated from equation： 141 × min（Scr/K, 1）^ α ×max（Scr/K, 1）^-1 209 × 0.993age × 1.018 if female, where Scr is serum creatinine, n is 0.7 for females and 0.9 for males, c~ is -0.329 for females and -0.411 for males, min indicates the minimum of Scr/K or 1, and max indicates the maximum of Scr/κ or 1. Irrespective of renal disease, both equations underestimated radionuclide clearance at mGFR 〉 90 ml/min/1.73 m^2 （91.7 ± 18.8 and 88.2 ± 22.0 vs. 121± 19.6, p〈0.0001） and at mGFR 60-89 ml/min/1.73 m^2 （67.1 ±19.9 and 65.8 ± 19.9 vs. 75.8 ± 9.2, p 〈 0.05 and p 〈 0.005）. They were also significantly lower than mGFR in Dm patients with GFR 〉_

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Introduction. Superficial granulomatous pyoderma is a rare variant of pyoderma gangrenosum, which is often diagnosed at a late stage because of misleading cli nical-histopathological features. We report a new case of this rare disease. Ca se report. A 67 year-old man presented with inflammatory lesions that had becom e ulcerated over the past 4 months despite prolonged antibiotic therapy. The his topathological aspect was initially suggestive of palisading granuloma annulare and subsequently a necrotizing granuloma compatible with a mycobacteriosis. The various supplementary examinations eliminated the possibility of an infectious o r systemic disease. The lesions became painful and ulcerated. A second biopsy sh owed a neutrophilic dermatosis with dermal necrosis and a granuloma leading to t he diagnosis of superficial granulomatous pyoderma. The lesions healed after 3 m onths of systemic corticosteroids at the dose of 1 mg/kg/day. Discussion. The cl inical features of superficial granulomatous pyoderma are similar to those of cl assical pyoderma gangrenosum. However, its histological profile is more superfic ial and is associated with dermal granulomas. The latter are unusual in neutroph ilic dermatosis and would suggest an infectious disease. This explains the frequ ent diagnostic errors, with inappropriate anti-infectious treatments and notabl y unnecessary surgical exeresis.
