Objective:This observational cohort pilot study aimed to evaluate the effects of the acupuncture methods,Jiu Cang Zhen(JCZ)and Huang Guan(HG),on changes in headache intensity in an inpatient,multimodal Zurzach Headache Programme(ZHP).Methods:Study participants consisted of patients diagnosed with chronic headache disorder(headache ds,30 days per month)or daily persistent *** patients received conventional therapies with active and passive *** patient group was treated with JCZ and HG acupuncture methods,receiving a total of six to eight acupuncture sessions of 50 to 60 minutes each,during a 3–4-week multimodal ZHP at the RehaClinic Bad *** intensity was quantified using a Numerical Rating Scale(NRS)before and after each acupuncture therapy ***:Ten patients were recruited,six women and four men,with a mean age of 41.7(standard deviation,[SD]=13.9).A reduction in headache intensity was reported by all patients in each of the *** average NRS for pain was 4.21(SD=1.44)before acupuncture and 1.24(SD=0.93)after acupuncture(means first by number of sessions,then per n=10 patients).This resulted in a mean difference of 2.97(SD=1.04),corresponding to a standardized response mean of 2.85(95%confidence interval:2.11–3.60,one-tailed P<0.001),meaning there was a large ***:This pilot study shows that JCZ and HG are suitable acupuncture methods for reducing headache intensity in the treatment of headaches.A comparison with the conventional classical acupuncture methods from the acupuncture textbook for traditional Chinese medicine students in China,exploration with a larger patient group,and prolonged monitoring of pain behavior could be foci of follow-up investigations.

The 18 kDa translocator protein(TSPO)located on the outer mitochondrial membrane regulates several key cellular processes including mitochondrial homeostasis,cholesterol transport,apoptosis,cell proliferation,and maintenance of mitochondrial health(Rupprecht et al.,2022,2023).TSPO is expressed in both peripheral organs and the central nervous system,with a more pronounced expression in tissues that produce *** main reason why TSPO has garnered so much attention is because it plays a key role in neurosteroidogenesis by transferring cholesterol from the outer to the inner mitochondrial membrane,which is the rate-limiting step in neurosteroid synthesis.A cholesterol-recognizing amino acid consensus domain has been identified in the cytosolic C terminus of the TSPO protein by both in vitro and site-directed mutagenesis experiments(Li et al.,2001).However,the role of TSPO in the process of neurosteroid synthesis has been challenged by several studies,particularly TSPO knockout models,which suggest that TSPO removal does not affect the phenotype or the system’s viability(Tu et al.,2014).However,ligands targeting TSPO have been shown to enhance levels of neurosteroids which suggests that neurosteroidogenesis is one of the major functional roles mediated by the TSPO protein.

A Hybrid Moth Flame Optimization Algorithm for Global Optimization

The Moth Flame Optimization(MFO)algorithm shows decent performance results compared to other meta-heuristic algorithms for tackling non-linear constrained global optimization ***,it still suffers from obtaining quality solution and slow convergence *** the other hand,the Butterfly Optimization Algorithm(BOA)is a comparatively new algorithm which is gaining its popularity due to its simplicity,but it also suffers from poor exploitation *** this study,a novel hybrid algorithm,h-MFOBOA,is introduced,which integrates BOA with the MFO algorithm to overcome the shortcomings of both the algorithms and at the same time inherit their *** performance evaluation,the proposed h-MFOBOA algorithm is applied on 23 classical benchmark functions with varied *** tested results of the proposed algorithm are compared with some well-known traditional meta-heuristic algorithms as well as MFO *** rank test and Wilcoxon signed rank test are employed to measure the performance of the newly introduced algorithm *** computational complexity has been ***,the proposed algorithm has been applied to solve one constrained and one unconstrained real-life problems to examine its problem-solving capability of both type of *** comparison results of benchmark functions,statistical analysis,real-world problems confirm that the proposed h-MFOBOA algorithm provides superior results compared to the other conventional optimization algorithms.

A Novel Variant of Moth Flame Optimizer for Higher Dimensional Optimization Problems

Moth Flame Optimization(MFO)is a nature-inspired optimization algorithm,based on the principle of navigation technique of moth toward *** to less parameter and easy implementation,MFO is used in various field to solve optimization ***,for the complex higher dimensional problems,MFO is unable to make a good trade-off between global and local *** overcome these drawbacks of MFO,in this work,an enhanced MFO,namely WF-MFO,is introduced to solve higher dimensional optimization *** a more optimal balance between global and local search,the original MFO’s exploration ability is improved by an exploration operator,namely,Weibull flight *** addition,the local optimal solutions have been avoided and the convergence speed has been increased using a Fibonacci search process-based technique that improves the quality of the solutions ***-nine benchmark functions of varying complexity with 1000 and 2000 dimensions have been utilized to verify the projected *** popular algorithms and MFO versions have been compared to the achieved *** addition,the robustness of the proposed WF-MFO method has been evaluated using the Friedman rank test,the Wilcoxon rank test,and convergence *** to other methods,the proposed WF-MFO algorithm provides higher quality solutions and converges more quickly,as shown by the ***,the proposed WF-MFO has been used to the solution of two engineering design issues,with striking *** improved performance of the proposed WF-MFO algorithm for addressing larger dimensional optimization problems is guaranteed by analyses of numerical data,statistical tests,and convergence performance.

Position Control of a Flexible Manipulator Using a New Nonlinear Self-Tuning PID Controller

In this paper, a new nonlinear self-tuning PID controller(NSPIDC) is proposed to control the joint position and link deflection of a flexible-link manipulator(FLM) while it is subjected to carry different payloads. Since, payload is a critical parameter of the FLM whose variation greatly influences the controller performance. The proposed controller guarantees stability under change in payload by attenuating the non-modeled higher order dynamics using a new nonlinear autoregressive moving average with exogenous-input(NARMAX) model of the FLM. The parameters of the FLM are identified on-line using recursive least square(RLS) algorithm and using minimum variance control(MVC) laws the control parameters are updated in real-time. This proposed NSPID controller has been implemented in real-time on an experimental set-up. The joint tracking and link deflection performances of the proposed adaptive controller are compared with that of a popular direct adaptive controller(DAC). From the obtained results, it is confirmed that the proposed controller exhibits improved performance over the DAC both in terms of accurate position tracking and quick damping of link deflections when subjected to variable payloads.

Effects of delay in immunological response of HIV infection

In this paper, a human immunodeficiency virus （HIV） infection model with both the types of immune responses, the antibody and the killer cell immune responses has been introduced. The model has been made more logical by including two delays in the acti-vation of both the immune responses, along with the combination drug therapy. The inclusion of both the delayed immune responses provides a greater understanding of long-term dynamics of the disease. The dependence of the stability of the steady states of the model on the reproduction number R0 has been explored through stability theory. Moreover, the global stability analysis of the infection-free steady state and the infected steady state has been proved with respect to R0. The bifurcation analysis of the infected steady state with respect to both delays has been performed. Numerical simulations have been carried out to justify the results proved. This model is capable of explaining the long-term dynamics of HIV infection to a greater extent than that of the existing model as it captures some basic parameters involved in the system such as immunological delay and immune response. Similarly, the model also explains the basic understanding of the disease dynamics as a result of activation of the immune response toward the virus.

This work presents a control approach based on sliding-mode-control(SMC)to design robust H∞state feedback controllers for load frequency regulation of delayed interconnected power system(IPS)with parametric *** both state feedback control strategy and delayed feedback control strategy,two SMC laws are *** proposed control laws are designed to improve the stability and disturbance rejection performance of delayed IPS,while stabilization criteria in the form of linear matrix inequality are derived by choosing a Lyapunov–Krasovskii *** artificial time-delay is incorporated in the control law design of the delayed feedback control struc-ture to enhance the controller performance.A numerical example is considered to study the control performance of the proposed controllers and simulation results are provided to observe the dynamic response of the IPS.
