Antibiogram of Extended-Spectrum <i>β</i>-Lactamase (ESBL) Producing <i>Escherichia coli</i>

Background: Extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) are enzymes capable of hydrolyzing extended-spectrum cephalosporins, penicillins and monobactams but inactive against cephamycins and carbapenems. The ESBL-producing organisms are a breed of multidrug-resistant pathogens. Objectives: This study was aimed to determine the susceptibility pattern of ESBL-producing Escherichia coli to ciprofloxacin, amikacin and imipenem. Methods: A total of 75 ESBL-producing E. coli, were obtained from the tertiary care hospitals of Bangladesh and were studied for susceptibility pattern from October, 2010 to December, 2011. These isolates were identified by double disc synergy test (DDST) and were confirmed phenotypically as ESBL-producer by phenotypic confirmatory disc diffusion test (PCDDT). Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of ciprofloxacin, amikacin and imipenem among ESBL-producing E. coli were determined using agar dilution method. Results: Out of 75 DDST positive ESBL-producing E. coli, 71 (94.67%) were also positive by PCDDT. All ESBL-producing E. coli, were susceptible to imipenem. About 92.95% ESBL-producing E. coli were susceptible to amikacin but only 14.08% were susceptible to ciprofloxacin. Conclusion: In this study, ESBL-producing E. coli, showed high resistance to ciprofloxacin. Imipenem and amikacin were most effective against ESBL positive strains.

Transition metal carbides,known as MXenes,particularly Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x),have been extensively explored as promising materials for electrochemical ***,transition metal carbonitride MXenes with high nitrogen content for electrochemical reactions are rarely *** this work,transition metal carbonitride MXenes incorporated with Pt-based electrocatalysts,ranging from single atoms to sub-nanometer dimensions,are explored for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).The fabricated Pt clusters/MXene catalyst exhibits superior HER performance compared to the single-atom-incorporated MXene and commercial Pt/C catalyst in both acidic and alkaline *** optimized sample shows low overpotentials of 28,65,and 154 mV at a current densities of 10,100,and 500 m A cm^(-2),a small Tafel slope of 29 m V dec^(-1),a high mass activity of 1203 mA mgPt^(-1)and an excellent turnover frequency of 6.1 s^(-1)in the acidic *** functional theory calculations indicate that this high performance can be attributed to the enhanced active sites,increased surface functional groups,faster charge transfer dynamics,and stronger electronic interaction between Pt and MXene,resulting in optimized hydrogen absorption/desorption toward better *** work demonstrates that MXenes with a high content of nitrogen may be promising candidates for various catalytic reactions by incorporating single atoms or clusters.

The introduction of w-operation in the class of flat modules has been successful. Let R be a ring. An R-module M is called a w-fiat module if Tor1r（M, N） is GV-torsion for all R-modules N. In this paper, we introduce the w-operation in Gorenstein homological algebra. An R-module M is called Ding w-flat if there exists an exact sequence of projective R-modules ... → P1 → P0 → p0 → p1 → ... such that M Im（P0 → p0） and such that the functor HomR （-,F） leaves the sequence exact whenever F is w-flat. Several well- known classes of rings are characterized in terms of Ding w-flat modules. Some examples are given to show that Ding w-flat modules lie strictly between projective modules and Gorenstein projective modules. The Ding w-flat dimension （of modules and rings） and the existence of Ding w-flat precovers are also studied.

A sensitive and selective method employing chemiluminescence(CL)coupled with flow injection(FI)is reported for nalbuphine hydrochloride(NAL)assay in pharmaceutical *** enhancement effect of NAL on the CL reaction between tris(2,2′-bipyridyl)ruthenium(II)chloride-diperiodatocuprate(III){Ru[(bpy)_(3)]^(2+)-Cu(III)complex}in acidic medium is used as analytical *** optimal conditions of the CL reaction were sulfuric acid 1.0×10^(−3) mol/L,Ru[(bpy)s]2+7.5×10^(−5) mol/L,Cu(III)/Ag(III)complexes 4.0×10^(−4)/5.0×10^(−4) mol/L,sample loop volume of 120µL and flow rate of 2.5 mL/*** sensitivities of the method in terms of detection(S/N=3)and quantification(S/N=10)limits are 5×10^(−4) and 0.001 ppm(1 ppm=1 mg/L),*** linear response of the instrument in the form of CL intensity with respect to NAL concentration is over the range 0.001-15.0 ppm(R^(2)=0.9999)with relative standard deviation from 0.8%to 3.2%and injection throughput of 120 injection/*** applications of the method include the quantitative analysis of NAL in pharmaceutical injection *** and the average results of the proposed method are not significantly different from the results of a reported method by applying F-and paired student *** most likely CL reaction mechanism is written in accordance with spectrophotometric and CL studies.

Publishing big data and making it accessible to researchers is important for knowledge building as it helps in applying highly efficient methods to plan,conduct,and assess scientific ***,publishing and processing big data poses a privacy concern related to protecting individuals’sensitive information while maintaining the usability of the published *** anonymization methods,such as slicing and merging,have been designed as solutions to the privacy concerns for publishing big ***,the major drawback of merging and slicing is the random permutation procedure,which does not always guarantee complete protection against attribute or membership ***,merging procedures may generatemany fake tuples,leading to a loss of data utility and subsequent erroneous knowledge *** study therefore proposes a slicingbased enhanced method for privacy-preserving big data publishing while maintaining the data *** particular,the proposed method distributes the data into horizontal and vertical *** lower and upper protection levels are then used to identify the unique and identical attributes’*** unique and identical attributes are swapped to ensure the published big data is protected from disclosure *** outcome of the experiments demonstrates that the proposed method could maintain data utility and provide stronger privacy preservation.

X-Ray Covid-19 Detection Based on Scatter Wavelet Transform and Dense Deep Neural Network

Notwithstanding the discovery of vaccines for Covid-19, the virus'srapid spread continues due to the limited availability of vaccines, especially inpoor and emerging countries. Therefore, the key issues in the presentCOVID-19 pandemic are the early identification of COVID-19, the cautiousseparation of infected cases at the lowest cost and curing the disease in the earlystages. For that reason, the methodology adopted for this study is imaging tools,particularly computed tomography, which have been critical in diagnosing andtreating the disease. A new method for detecting Covid-19 in X-rays and CTimages has been presented based on the Scatter Wavelet Transform and DenseDeep Neural Network. The Scatter Wavelet Transform has been employed as afeature extractor, while the Dense Deep Neural Network is utilized as a binaryclassifier. An extensive experiment was carried out to evaluate the accuracy ofthe proposed method over three datasets: IEEE 80200, Kaggle, andCovid-19 X-ray image data Sets. The dataset used in the experimental part consists of 14142. The numbers of training and testing images are 8290 and 2810,respectively. The analysis of the result refers that the proposed methods achievedhigh accuracy of 98%. The proposed model results show an excellent outcomecompared to other methods in the same domain, such as (DeTraC) CNN, whichachieved only 93.1%, CNN, which achieved 94%, and stacked Multi-ResolutionCovXNet, which achieved 97.4%. The accuracy of CapsNet reached 97.24%.

The number of mobile devices accessing wireless networks isskyrocketing due to the rapid advancement of sensors and wireless communicationtechnology. In the upcoming years, it is anticipated that mobile datatraffic would rise even more. The development of a new cellular networkparadigm is being driven by the Internet of Things, smart homes, and moresophisticated applications with greater data rates and latency *** are being used up quickly due to the steady growth of smartphonedevices andmultimedia apps. Computation offloading to either several distantclouds or close mobile devices has consistently improved the performance ofmobile devices. The computation latency can also be decreased by offloadingcomputing duties to edge servers with a specific level of computing ***-to-device (D2D) collaboration can assist in processing small-scaleactivities that are time-sensitive in order to further reduce task delays. The taskoffloading performance is drastically reduced due to the variation of differentperformance capabilities of edge nodes. Therefore, this paper addressed thisproblem and proposed a new method for D2D communication. In thismethod, the time delay is reduced by enabling the edge nodes to exchangedata samples. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has betterperformance than traditional algorithm.

Flue gas heat loss accounts for a significant component of theoverall heat loss for coal-fired boilers in power plants. The flue gas absorbsmore heat as the exhaust gas temperature rises, which reduces boiler efficiencyand raises coal consumption. Additionally, if the exhaust gas temperatureis too high, a lot of water must be used to cool the flue gas for the wetflue gas desulfurization system to function well, which has an impact onthe power plant’s ability to operate profitably. It is consequently vital totake steps to lower exhaust gas temperatures in order to increase boilerefficiency and decrease the amount of coal and water used. Desulfurizationperformance may be enhanced and water use can be decreased by reasonableflue gas characteristics at the entry. This study analyzed the unit’s energyconsumption, investment, and coal savings while proposing four couplingstrategies for regulating flue gas temperature and waste heat recovery. Agraded flue gas conditioning and waste heat recovery plan was presentedunder the condition of ensuring high desulfurization efficiency, along withthe notion of minimizing energy loss owing to energy inflow temperaturedifference. Numerical results show that the proposed methods improved thesystem performance and reduced the water consumption and regulated theboiler temperature.
