Background: Eclam.sia, the occurrence of generalized convulsion(s) in association with signs of preeclam.sia [PE] (hypertension and proteinuria) in pregnancy has rem.ined a significant public threat in Nigeria, contributing to m.ternal and perinatal m.rbidity and m.rtality. This study was a com.arative cross-sectional study conducted in som. selected hospitals in Kaduna State, between April 2014 and Novem.er 2015. Subjects and m.thods: Blood (3 m.s) was collected into an ethylenediam.netetraaccetic acid (EDTA) vacutainer tube from.third trim.ster wom.n diagnosed with eclam.sia (EC;n = 38) and healthy pregnant controls (PC;n = 38)—age and parity m.tched and healthy non-pregnant controls (NPC;n = 38)—age m.tched. T Cell subpopulations and Com.lete Blood Count levels were m.asured by Sysm.x, Auto blood analyzer and flow cytom.try respectively. Participants with sm.ar positive m.laria, seropositive for hum.n im.unodeficiency virus (HIV), any other clinical infection or refused consent were excluded from.this study. Data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Post Hoc test. A p-value of less than 0.05 was considered to be significant. Result: Overall, results showed a depressed (m.an ± Standard deviation (SD): CD3+ T cell (65.6 ± 15.5%;1225.5 ± 401.5 cell/μL), CD4+ T cell (36.1 ± 8.7%;657.1 ± 189.9 cell/μL), and a low CD4/CD8 value in wom.n with EC (1.4 ± 0.5) and PC (1.5 ± 0.3) com.ared to NPC (1.9 ± 0.6) control (p m.ng the eclam.tic wom.n (9.8 ± 4.9 × 109/L;70.3 ± 12.0%) com.ared to PC (6.9 ± 3.6 × 109/L;64.6 ± 8.1%) and NPC (5.6 ± 2.0 × 109/L;48.5 ± 10.7%), p m.sia was associated with significantly depressed CD3+ and CD4+ T lym.hocyte, and increased percentage differential neutrophil counts.

交通入口处X光违禁品检测对公共安全至关重要,为了达到违禁品检测精度和速度均衡,对YOLOv7算法进行改进。增加了一个由低层、高分辨率的特征图生成的检测头,提高对小目标物体敏感度。在YOLOv7的Backbone末尾增加轻量级m.bileNetViTv3 block,用于捕获全局信息,帮助网络在高密度场景中精准定位。并设计出一种m.CA模块用于弥补深层卷积定位信息的不足。在测试阶段引入一个额外的分类器,进一步提高网络的分类能力。改进后的模型在3种安检违禁品数据集SiXary、HiXary、CLCXray进行测试,m.P分别达到了94.9%、77.3%、86.1%。结果表明,所提出的模型能够有效提高YOLOv7的检测复杂违禁品的能力,同时保持较快的检测速度,与当前主流算法相比,具有一定的先进性。

Background: Transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) is the gold standard in the surgical treatm.nt of sym.tom.tic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Blood loss is one of the m.st com.on com.lications of TURP. Objective: To evaluate the effect of preoperative dutasteride on bleeding related to TURP in patients with BPH. m.terials and m.thods: This prospective interventional study was done in the departm.nt of urology, Dhaka m.dical College Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period of July 2016 to June 2017. A total of 70 cases of BPH planned for TURP were included in this study according to the statistical calculation. Patients were random.y allocated to control group A (TURP without dutasteride) and dutasteride group B (TURP with dutasteride). Each group consisted of 35 patients. Group B patients were treated with dutasteride 0.5 m./day for 4 weeks before TURP. The m.in outcom. of blood loss was evaluated in term. of reduction in serum.hem.globin (Hb) and hem.tocrit (Hct) levels, which were m.asured before and 24 hours after surgery. Data were analyzed and com.ared by statistical tests. Results: Com.arison of outcom. between groups shows that there was a significant difference in term.of pre-post operative change of hem.globin and hem.tocrit levels in the control group A com.ared to the dutasteride group B (Hb = 2.96 ± 0.80 gm.dl vs. 1.81 ± 0.71 gm.dl, respectively, p = 0.001;Hct = 11.20% ± 2.12% vs. 6.07% ± 2.02%, respectively, p = 0.02). A significant lower m.an blood loss was observed in the dutasteride group com.ared to the control group. Conclusion: Preoperative dutasteride therapy reduces blood loss related to TURP in patients with BPH. This therapy can be practiced to reduce surgical bleeding associated with TURP.

The im.act of raindrop on sandy soil was studied using rainfall sim.lator and natural rainfall to determ.ne average soil detached. Erosion by rainfall is one of the m.jor hazards threatening the productivity of farm.ands. This study determ.ned the rate of soil detachm.nt in com.arison between natural rainfall and sim.lated rainfall for effective soil conservation m.asure. The height of the sim.lator was varied considering the diam.ter of the nozzles which were considered during the design stage of the rain sim.lator. Two plots of dim.nsions 2 m.× 2 m.each were cleared with one considered for bare and treated soils for both the natural rainfall and sim.lated rainfall. Splash cups were installed on each of the plots at half depth of the cup after the clearing of the area at 0.4 m.× 0.4 m.apart. Two sets of rain gauge were placed at the experim.ntal site to note the volum. of natural rainfall on the farm. The average soil detached was analysed using statistical analysis where t-test was also carried out to know the difference in m.an. There was a significant difference in the degree of soil detachm.nt between bare and treated soil under natural rainfall experim.nt;t(18) = 8.917, p m.an of the natural rainfall for the bare soil was 11.6910 com.ared to that of the treated soil of 7.75. Size of effect (Eta-square (η2) = 0.8154) reveals that the nature of soil accounted for 81.5% variance in the average detachm.nt rate. For sim.lated experim.nts with a m.an value of 7.3360 have higher tendency of detachm.nt than treated soil with a m.an value of 4.2240. Size of effect (Eta-square (η2) = 0.630) reveals that the soil types accounted for 63% variance in the average detachm.nt. The aim.of this study was to inventory plant biodiversity and to evaluate the carbon sequestration potential of the m.som.ni forest *** inventory of all trees with diam.ter at breast height(dbh)≥10 cm.m.asured at 1.30 m.height was *** aerial biom.ss(AGB)was used for estim.ting the stored CO2 and its carbon equivalent.88 plant species belonging to 71 genera and 32 fam.lies were *** fam.ly displayed the highest num.er of species and *** highest basal area values were displayed by Scorodophloeus zenkeri(7.34±2.45 m./ha),Brachystegia laurentii(5.82±1.94 m./ha),Entandrophragm. utile(5.28±1.94 m./ha),Pentadesm. butyracea(4.53±1.51 m./ha).The highest values of stored carbon and their carbon equivalent were observed in Pentadesm. butyracea(15.13±5.00 and 50.55±16.85 t/ha),Picralim. nitida(7.02±2.34 and 23.66±7.88 t/ha),Strom.osia tetandra(6.56±2.18 and 22.10±7.36 t/ha).The m.som.ni forest m.ssif is thus m.ch floristically diversified and plays a significant role in the sequestration of *** total AGB of the inventoried trees is 183.78±61.26 t/ha corresponding to stored carbon and carbon equivalent of 96.63±32.21 t/ha and 289.92±96.64 t/ha *** protection of this ecosystem.is highly needed for com.atting clim.tic changes at local,national and regional scales and for the conservation biodiversity habitat.

An integrated geophysical investigation using very low frequency electro-m.gnetic (VLF-Em. and electrical resistivity m.thods using (VES) technique has been carried out for investigation of possible causes of dam.failure in Kali, Aliero Northwestern Nigeria. A total of Three 3 (VLF-Em. traverses and Ten 10 vertical electrical soundings (VES) techniques have been carried out to identify the fracture zones, seepage and possible threat that lead to the collapse of the dam. The interpretation of VLF-Em.data is carried out qualitatively using Fraser and Karous-Hjelt filters and the interpretation of sounding data is done using IPI2 win software. VLF-Em.data signifies the exact fracture zones founded on higher values of relative current density that coincide to the subsurface fracture. The survey was conducted on an interval of 10 m.interval along traverses at South-North direction ranging from.620 - 640 m.in length. The plot of filtered real and filtered im.ginary identified noticeable fracture zone close to the surface which was later further delineated by (VES) technique. VES soundings were carried out at locations of prom.nent VLF anom.lies presum.bly typical of basem.nt fracture using AB/2 of 80 m. Results interpreted show layers thickness and their corresponding resistivity, top soil (0.5 m.to 3.45 m. 51.9 Ωm.to 318 Ωm., underlain by clay to confined clay (4.56 m.to 54 m. 7.88 Ωm.to 60.2 Ωm. which is underlain by fractured/fresh basem.nt (5.76 m.to 73.9 m. 40.3 Ωm.to 197 Ωm.. The overburden m.terials underlain are far away to subsurface (bed rock) in m.st of the area to support the dam. The clay m.terials which could serve as conduit, exist within the shallow overburden which was not excavated during the construction. Therefore it was concluded that the dam.cannot retain its strength to oppose the dam.against collapse.

Gene Therapy of HSV-TK Transferred by the EBV based Expression Vector on Experim.ntal Hepatocellular Carcinom.

To study the therapeutic effects of herpes sim.lex virus thym.dine kinase gene transferred by the EBV based expression vector on experim.ntal hepatocellular carcinom., pDR2 TK gene was delivered into hum.n hepatocellular carcinom. cell line Sm.C 7721 by using liposom. m.diated transfection technique,and then gene expression was detected by RT PCR, and the killing effects were exam.ned through m.T m.thod. In the nude m.ce hepatom. m.del,the antitum.r effects of pDR2 TK /GCV system.was evaluated in term. of tum.r growth. m.T results showed that the pDR2 TK /GCV had cytotoxic effect and about 70 % Sm.C 7721 cells were killed when GCV was at 1000 μm.l/L. In vivo experim.nt showed that the tum.r size in nude m.ce with transferred pDR2 TK gene was significantly sm.ller than that in control group . On the 10th day the tum.r in 3 m.ce (60 %) disappeared com.letely after GCV treatm.nt. It is concluded that the pDR2 TK/GCV system.has m.rked killing effects on the experim.ntal hepatocellular carcinom..

满天星是当今世界最流行的鲜切花配花之一,茎腐病是满天星的一种常见病害,严重时导致植株枯萎死亡,影响鲜花的观赏性和利用价值,造成一定的经济损失。2021年3月,笔者在云南省昆明市海口镇发现满天星茎腐病,该病主要为害茎基部,表现为茎基部腐烂和萎蔫。为明确其病原,本研究对满天星茎腐病病原菌进行分离与鉴定。柯赫氏法则证明该分离物可造成满天星组培苗和盆栽苗表现出与田间病株相似的症状,经接种后获得的分离物与田间自然发病的分离物一致。通过形态学鉴定,分离物能产生大量致密的气生菌丝,颜色从白色到淡橙色或黄色不等,菌落背面有暗红色色素沉积。显微镜观察发现其分离物的分生孢子呈镰刀形,腹面较平直,背侧呈拱形,具有3~6个隔膜,分生孢子大小为(21.1~57.9)μm.(2.7~5.1)μm.n=100),未见小型分生孢子,形态学上与镰刀菌属病原真菌相似。通过对其ITS基因序列与形态学鉴定,将分离物初步确定为禾谷镰孢复合种(Fusarium.gram.nearum.species com.lex,FGSC),为进一步确定亚种,使用翻译延伸因子(TEF-1α)序列进行测序,发现该分离物与南方镰孢菌(***)的同源性达100%。因此结合形态学和分子生物学特征,满天星茎腐病的病原确定为南方镰孢菌。目前国内尚未发现由南方镰孢菌侵染为害满天星茎部的相关研究报道,本研究结果将为防治满天星病害提供重要理论依据。
