Progressively loss of neural and glial cells is the key event that leads to nervous system dysfunctions and diseases. Several neurodegenerative diseases, for instance Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Huntington's disease, are associated to aging and suggested to be a consequence of deficiency of neural stem cell pool in the affected brain regions. Endogenous neural stem cells exist throughout life and are found inspecific niches of human brain. These neural stem cells are responsible for the regeneration of new neurons to restore, in the normal circumstance, the functions of the brain. Endogenous neural stem cells can be isolated, propagated, and, notably, differentiated to most cell types of the brain. On the other hand, other types of stem cells, such as mesenchymal stem cells, embryonic stem cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells can also serve as a source for neural stem cell production, that hold a great promise for regeneration of the brain. The replacement of neural stem cells, either endogenous or stem cell-derived neural stem cells, into impaired brain is highly expected as a possible therapeutic mean for neurodegenerative diseases. In this review, clinical features and current routinely treatments of agerelated neurodegenerative diseases are documented. Noteworthy, we presented the promising evidence of neural stem cells and their derivatives in curing such diseases, together with the remaining challenges to achieve the best outcome for patients.

Quality of dried product depends on the temperature and velocity at each position in the *** microscopic and macroscopic simulation on Computational Fluid Dynamic(CFD)is a general problem of fixed bed dryer consisting of water transportation in porous media and dynamic flow of hot air in the *** the dryer by assuming the packed bed as porous volume,viscous and inertial resistances(1/α and C_(2))are necessary for calculating the pressure drop and velocity change in the *** theDP/L of the standard packing with experimental results,the porosity and resistance parameters can be *** of unmodified,adding false floor and invest mesh,and insulating the dryer wall are used for validation with previous *** the round holed sieve as false floor and invert mesh can produce better profile but cannot obtain uniform *** velocity distribution shows similar but the calculating temperature is higher than that from the *** analysis of thermal efficiency of dryer without insulator,the heat loss rates with flue gas and heat flux at wall are in the range 14%-17%and 5.5%-7.3%.Integrating with single fruit or thin layer drying kinetic in the future,the CFD simulation can be used for optimal design of fixed bed dryer.

LiMn_(0.5)Fe_(0.5)PO_(4) has attracted great interest due to its good electrochemical performance and higher operating *** has led to a greater than 30 percent higher energy density than for commercial Li Fe PO4 olivine *** the phase transition behaviors and kinetics of this material will help researchers to design and develop next generation cathodes for Li-ion *** this study,we investigated non-equilibrium phase transition behaviors in a LiMn_(0.5)Fe_(0.5)PO_(4) cathode material during charge–discharge processes by varying current rates(C-rates)using synchrotron in-situ X-ray *** methods included wide angle X-ray scattering(in-situ WAXS)and X-ray absorption spectroscopy(in-situ XAS).The WAXS spectra indicate that the phase transition of LiMn_(0.5)Fe_(0.5)PO_(4) material at slow C-rates is induced by a two-phase *** contrast,at a high C-rate(5 C),the formation of an intermediate phase upon discharge is clearly ***,the oxidation numbers of the redox reactions of Fe^(2+)/Fe^(3+)and Mn^(2+)/Mn^(3+)were evaluated using in-situ *** combination of synchrotron in-situ X-ray techniques gives clear insights into the non-equilibrium phase transition behavior of a LiMn_(0.5)Fe_(0.5)PO_(4) cathode *** new understanding will be useful for further developments of this highly promising cathode material for practical commercialization.

Dried longan fruit has become an important export product of *** about drying kinetics is essential to optimize the drying *** this study,drying kinetics of unpeeled longan fruits was investigated by varying the parameters as follows:air temperature 50~90℃,relative humidity 4%~20%,air velocity 0.2~0.5 m/s,and size of the *** drying curves of longan fruit,dried in a single layer,were strongly affected by the temperature of the drying air and fruit size but less dependent on relative humidity and velocity of the drying *** single-layer drying models were selected from literature to identify suitable ones for fitting moisture ratio curves to data obtained from the drying ***,the proportional and exponential coefficient of drying time in the‘Page’model could be given in a generalized function for each of the investigated drying ***,the two coefficients could be correlated to all drying parameters *** allowed establishing a generalized‘Page’model for estimating drying curves for any value of temperature,fruit size,relative humidity and air velocity within the range of performed *** analysis also revealed an inner correlation between the two‘Page’coefficients,which opens new doors for further research on the application of the‘Page’model for describing drying processes.

This paper presents the study of vibration in each element of hard disk drive, especially the resonance of the actuator arm. The resonance occurs in hard disk drive is considered as one of the quality controlled parameter. The main purpose of the research is to investigate the relationship between the pivot bearing assembly process and the natural frequency of the actuator arm. The experiment is designed using the information from the hard disk drive manufacturer. The selected pivot bearing assembly process parameters have been controlled. The modal analysis of the assembled actuator arms has been done. The experiment results show the relationship of the specific process parameters and some of the actuator arm＇s modal frequency. The results also show that the affected vibration mode is the torsion mode only.

Antioxidative and Neuroprotective Activities of the Pre-Germinated Brown Rice Extract

We evaluated the effects of pre-germinated brown rice extract (PGBR ex) with enhanced levels of GABA on proliferation and apoptosis of neuronal SK-N-SH cells line. Firstly, we used HPLC methods to study the level of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in all rice extracts. We found that the concentration of GABA in the PGBR ex were 3 and 8 times higher than the GABA concentration in non-germinated brown rice (BR ex) and white rice (WR ex) compared with the stan- dard GABA respectively. Next we study the protective effects of brown rice extract by investigating various methods, we found that the effects of dose-dependent study by treated with PGBR ex, BR ex and WR ex at (0 - 4000 μg/ml). The data from MTT assay showed that the higher concentration of all rice extracts were not induced toxicity to SK-N-SH cells. To test the protective effect by study the viability of SK-N-SH cells. These results showed that PGBR ex and BR ex can protect cells by significantly increase cells survival up to 29.3% ± 0.01% and13.4% ± 0.07 % (p 56.9% ± 0.02 % (p < 0.05), compared with un- treated cells (control). Next study we test the effect of cells apoptotic by ROS assay and DNA fragmentation. The results showed that PGBR ex were definitely decrease the amount of ROS formation and had a little of DNA ladders comparable with condition that induced by 150 ?M H2O2. Our data indicating that PGBR ex with enhanced levels of GABA effectively inhibit SK-N-SH cells proliferation and apoptosis. These present results suggest that intake of PGBR and BR instead of WR is effective to protect cell proliferation and apoptosis which may be useful nutritional to prevent neuronal cells from neurodegenerative disease.
