Diet Chocolates and Replacement of Cocoa Powder with Jackfruit Seed Powder

Chocolate is a very popular food product that is relished by millions of people for its unique, rich and sweet taste. The health benefits of chocolate are immense which is attributed to its high polyphenolic content. In the current study, the diet chocolates using natural and artificial sweeteners were developed. Also, the jackfruit seed powder after fermentation (anaerobic and aerobic) was used to replace cocoa powder by 10%. The physiochemical and glycemic index of the chocolates were analyzed. The physiochemical analysis of the chocolates indicated that substitution of jackfruit seed powder did not alter significantly the proximate composition. It was found out that the glycemic index and glycemic load of the chocolates were significantly lower than commercial milk chocolate, which makes it a suitable food product for diabetic and other groups. The samples were packed in pouches made of metallised polyester films laminated with polyethylene for storage studies. Instrumental textural studies were in concordance with sensory observation, indicating that the product remained stable for 3 months at room temperature (26°C ± 2°C). The color of the product remained similar throughout the storage period indicating stable structural and surface characteristics. Hence, the chocolates developed using natural and artificial sweeteners have low GI and will minimize the risk of several chronic diseases including diabetes and the use of jackfruit seed powder as a substitute for cocoa powder has not altered any of the characteristic features of chocolate.

Simultaneous determination of ezetimibe and simvastatin in rat plasma by stable-isotope dilution LC-ESI-MS/MS and its application to a pharmacokinetic study

A simple, sensitive and specific liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method was developed for simultaneous quantification of ezetimibe and simvastatin in rat plasma. The deuterium isotopes： ezetimibe d4 and simvastatin d6 were used as internal standards for ezetimibe and simvastatin, respectively. MS/MS detection involved a switch of electron spray ionization mode from negative to positive at retention time 3.01 rain. Samples were extracted from plasma by liquid-liquid extraction using tertiary butyl methyl ether. Chromatographic separation was achieved with Agilent Eclipse XBD-CIs column using mobile phase that consisted of a mixture of ammonium acetate （pH4.5; 10 mM）-acetonitrile （25：75 v/v）. The method was linear and validated over the concentration range of 0.2--40.0 ng/rnL for simvastatin and 0.05-15.0 ng/mL for ezetimibe. The transitions selected were m/z 408.3→271.1 and m/z 412.0→275.10 for ezetimibe and ezetimibe d4, and m/z 419.30 → 285.20 and rrdz 425.40 →199.20 for simvastatin and simvastatin d6. Intra- and inter-batch precisions for ezetimibe were 1.6-14.8% and 2.1-13.4%; and for simvastatin 0.94-9.56% and 0.79-12%, respectively. The proposed method was sensitive, selective, precise and accurate for the quantification of ezetimibe and simvastatin simultaneously in rat plasma. The method was successfully applied to a pharmacokinetic study by oral co-administration of ezetimibe and simvastatin in SD rats.

Modeling corrosion behavior of gas tungsten arc welded titanium alloy

The pitting corrosion characteristics of pulse TIG welded Ti-6Al-4v titanium alloy in marine environment were explained. Besides the rapid advance of titanium metallurgy, this is also due to the successful solution of problems associated with the development of titanium alloy welding. The preferred welding process of titanium alloy is frequently gas tungsten arc(GTA) welding due to its comparatively easier applicability and better economy. In the case of single pass GTA welding of thinner section of this alloy, the pulsed current has been found beneficial due to its advantages over the conventional continuous current process. The benefit of the process is utilized to obtain better quality titanium weldments. Four factors, five levels, central composite, rotatable design matrix are used to optimize the required number of experiments. The mathematical models have been developed by response surface method(RSM). The results reveal that the titanium alloy can form a protective scale in marine environment and is resistant to pitting corrosion. Experimental results are provided to illustrate the proposed approach.

Influence of Combinations of Pesticides and Fertilizers on Aquatic Productivity

We have examined the effects of environmentally realistic concentrations of widely used pesticides and fertilizers for rice paddy in Western Ghats regions of India on chlorophyll and zooplankton production using a laboratory mesocosm. Malathion (100 μg·L-1), Cypermethrin (25 μg·L-1), Nitrate-nitrogen (8 mg·L-1) and Phosphate-phosphorus (8 mg·L-1) in different combinations such as pesticide-pesticide and pesticide-fertilizer were tested in fully factorial manner for a period of 42 days. Study revealed that, chlorophyll production was supported by addition of fertilizers, while combinations of fertilizers with either one or two pesticides reduce the zooplankton density and diversity rendering chlorophyll concentration more than control groups. This could indicate the reason for eutrophication of ponds located in agro-ecosystems. Single application of combinations of pesticides (in spite of presence of fertilizers) even at low concentrations can produce severe negative effects on several taxonomic groups zooplankton living in small shallow water.

从Bahrain油田浅层角砾储层 (大约15 0 0～ 160 0ft)中开采重质原油十分困难 ,该储层原油具有相对密度低 (12°～18°API)、黏度高 (40℃时黏度为 35 0cP)的特点。为提高该储层的采收率 ,计划使用井下加热器对其进行热力增产实验。由于在生产井中最大压降总是发生在井筒附近 ,所以在井筒内加热降低原油黏度即可极大提高原油产量。现场试验表明 ,原油产量从加热前的小于 10bopd (bbl/d)增加至加热之初的 70bopd ,并稳定在 4 0bopd。即使井底温度只有微小的增加 ,也可明显看出它对生产率和含水率的影响。适用的井下加热器种类及型号较多 ,考虑到这些加热器的不同特点 ,决定选用感应加热器。因为该种类型加热器对完井没有特殊要求 ,可直接下入井内。它是利用电能通过铁磁套管感应产生热量来加热储层。通过ESP电缆 ,高电压低电流地传输三相电力可以将电阻能量损失降至最低 ,并且所输送能量的 80 %～ 85 %能够转换为热量。

The Correlation of NT-Pro BNP with Echocardiographic Indices Including 3D vena Contracta Width in the Assessment of Severity of Mitral Regurgitation

Introduction: Mitral regurgitation (MR) is a common valvular disease that causes significant morbidity and mortality. The use of multiple echocardiographic indices and hormonal parameters in combination can provide an accurate assessment of MR severity and Lv dysfunction in most cases. Aim of study: The aim of this study was to correlate the levels of serum NT-pro BNP with various echocardiographic parameters including 3D vena contracta width in patients with MR. Methods: 74 Patients diagnosed with primary mitral regurgitation in sinus rhythm with no conduction disturbance were included in the study. 2D and Doppler echocardiography indices were calculated. A full-volume 3D color Doppler acquisition was obtained and 3D vena contracta width was calculated and serum BNP levels were obtained. Results: NT-pro BNP levels were increased with symptoms in patients with mitral regurgitation (NYHAI: 4.48 ± 0.06, NYHAII: 5.54 ± 0.78, NYHAIII: 6.68 ± 1.21 pg/ml, p 0.01). NT-pro BNP plasma levels were significantly correlated with MPI (r = 0.945, p 0.01), LvESv (r = 0.706, p 0.01), LvESvI (r = 0.677, p 0.01), LAvI (r = 0.709, p 0.01), MR 2D vC (r = 0.430, p 0.01), 3D vC (r = 0.441, p 0.01), PISA (r = 0.440, p 0.01) and negative correlation with Lv ejection fraction (r = 0.846, p 0.01), dp/dt (r = 0.795, p BNP plasma level and LA jet area ratio (P = 0.33). It was observed that there was a significant correlation between 3D vC and PISA levels in patients of mitral regurgitation. However correlation is better in MR with central jet compared to eccentric jet in moderate and severe MR (r = 0.807, 0.817 vs r = 0.617, 0.572). Conclusion: This study showed that NT-pro BNP measurement has the same sensitivity and specificity as echocardiographic indices. Three-dimensional vCA may provide a reliable measurement of ROA, independent of geometric and flow assumptions.

With the new theoretical approach i.e. lie algebraic approach, we have calculated the infrared spectra of Phosphine in the range from 3000 cm-1 to 9500 cm-1 and Nitrogen Trifluoride in the range from 900 cm-1 to 4500 cm-1. The model Hamiltonian, so constructed, seems to describe the P-H and N-F stretching modes accurately with only four numbers of parameters.
