Background:The short-and medium-term outcomes of iStent have been extensively studied;however,only few studies have investigated its long-term ***,we assessed the long-term efficacy and safety of two iStents with concomitant cataract surgery in glaucomatous eyes while also evaluating measures of disease stability using visual field and optical coherence tomography(OCT)of the optic nerve and the macula throughout 8 years of ***:This longitudinal,single-center consecutive case series included glaucomatous eyes that underwent implantation of two first-generation trabecular micro-bypass stents(iStent)with concomitant cataract ***-year efficacy outcomes included mean intraocular pressure(IOP)and medications,as well as surgical ***-year safety outcomes included best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),visual field mean deviation(VF-MD),cup-todisc ratio(CDR),retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL)thickness,ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer(GC-IPL)thickness,and adverse ***:A total of 62 eyes with primary open-angle glaucoma(POAG)were *** 8 years postoperative,IOP reduced by 26%from 19.2±3.9 mmHg preoperatively to 14.2±2.4 mmHg(P<0.001),91.1%of eyes achieved IOP≤18 mmHg(vs.51.6%preoperatively),69.6%of eyes achieved IOP≤15 mmHg(vs.14.5%preoperatively),and 25%of eyes achieved IOP≤12 mmHg(vs.1.6%preoperatively).Medication use decreased by 17.9%from 2.8±1.1 preoperatively to 2.3±1.2(P=0.018).Surgical success was 90%,as six eyes underwent subsequent glaucoma *** measures of BCVA,CDR,RNFL thickness and GC-IPL thickness remained stable through 8 years ***-MD remained stable until postoperative year 5 and subsequently progressed according to the natural history of glaucomatous ***:Implantation of two iStents with concomitant cataract surgery is an effective and safe treatment option for surgery-naïve POAG eyes,evidenced by significant IOP and medication reductions,reasonable surgical success

Marcel Proust is an author of global significance and renown. Trans- lations into Chinese and Korean of A la recherche du temps perdu are ongoing. The Gallica online library of France＇s Bibliothbque nationale makes the notebooks from which Proust＇s novel emerged between 1908 and 1922 digitally accessible any- where in the world. It is well known that Proust has been adapted to graphic novel format, individual volumes of his novel have been adapted for cinema, inspired ballet and musical theatre and his characters＇ lives have fuelled works of fiction by contemporary creative writers. This paper considers a very recent instance of Proust＇s reception and adaptation：＂Works in Fiber, Paper and Proust＂ created by the critic and theorist Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick （1950-2009） and first exhibited at Harvard University in 2005. These remarkable objects--including what Sedgwick calls an ＂accordion-book＂ and a ＂loom-book＂--give a woven, layered physicality to Proust＇s words and remobilise them in ways that force us to reconfigure our understanding of the text-reader relation. Sedgwick＇s visual, textile artworks are the products of creative, adaptive practices undertaken as a sort of therapy that was instrumental in her coming to terms with the terminal cancer diagnosis she received in 1996. My paper explores Sedgwick＇s adaptive practice and interrogates the in- sights their challenging hybridity offers us into the ongoing transmission of Proust＇s work.

Experimental repetitive mild traumatic brain injury induces deficits in trabecular bone microarchitecture and strength in mice

To evaluate the long-term consequence of repetitive mild traumatic brain injury （mTBI） on bone, mTBI was induced in 10-week-old female C57BL/6J mice using a weight drop model, once per day for 4 consecutive days at different drop heights （0.5, 1 and 1.5 m） and the skeletal phenotype was evaluated at different time points after the impact. In vivo micro-CT （μ-CT） analysis of the tibial metaphysis at 2, 8 and 12 weeks after the impact revealed a 5%-32% reduction in trabecular bone mass. Histomorphometric analyses showed a reduced bone formation rate in the secondary spongiosa ofl.5 m impacted mice at 12 weeks post impact. Apparent modulus （bone strength）, was reduced by 30% （P 〈 0.05） at the proximal tibial metaphysis in the 1.5 m drop height group at 2 and 8 weeks post impact. Ex vivo μ-CT analysis of the fifth lumbar vertebra revealed a significant reduction in trabecular bone mass at 12 weeks of age in all three drop height groups. Serum levels of osteocalcin were decreased by 22%, 15%, and 19% in the 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 m drop height groups, respectively, at 2 weeks post impact. Serum IGF-I levels were reduced by 18%-32% in mTBI mice compared to control mice at 2 weeks post impact. Serum osteocalcin and IGF-I levels correlated with trabecular BV/TV （r2 = 0.14 and 0.16, P 〈 0.05）. In conclusion, repetitive mTBI exerts significant negative effects on the trabecular bone microarchitecture and bone mechanical properties by influencing osteoblast function via reduced endocrine IGF-I actions.

Reconstructing the size of individual trees using log data from cut-to-length harvesters in Pinus radiata plantations: a case study in NSW, Australia

With their widespread utilization, cut-to-length harvesters have become a major source of ‘‘big data’’ for forest management as they constantly capture, and provide a daily flow of, information on log production and assortment over large operational areas. Harvester data afford the calculation of the total log length between the stump and the last cut but not the total height of trees. They also contain the length and end diameters of individual logs but not always the diameter at breast height overbark（DBHOB） of harvested stems largely because of time lapse, operating and processing issues and other system deficiencies. Even when DBHOB is extracted from harvester data, errors and/or bias of the machine measurements due to the variation in the stump height of harvested stems from that specified for the harvester head prior to harvesting and diameter measurement errors may need to be corrected. This study developed（1） a system of equations for estimating DBHOB of trees from diameter overbark（DOB） measured by a harvester head at any height up to 3 m above ground level and（2） an equation to predict the total height of harvested stems in P. radiata plantations from harvester data. To generate the data required for this purpose, cut-to-length simulations of more than 3000 trees with detailed taper measurements were carried out in the computer using the cutting patterns extracted from the harvester data and stump height survey data from clearfall operations. The equation predicted total tree height from DBHOB, total log length and the small end diameter of the top log. Prediction accuracy for total tree height was evaluated both globally over the entire data space and locally within partitioned subspaces through benchmarking statistics.
