Probing the Galactic Halo with RR Lyrae *** Radial Velocity Curve Templates of RRc Stars

We present radial velocity(RV)curve templates of RR Lyrae first-overtone(RRc)stars constructed with the Mg I b triplet and Hαlines using time-domain Medium-Resolution Survey spectra of seven RRc stars from Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope(LAMOST)Data Release ***,we derive the relation between the stellar RV curve amplitudes and g-band light curve amplitudes from Zwicky Transient Facility(ZTF)public *** those RRc stars without ZTF g-band light curves,we provide the conversions from the light curve amplitudes in ZTF r-and i-bands,Gaia G-band,and V-band from the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae to those in ZTF *** validate our RV curve templates using the RRc star SV Scl and find the uncertainties of systemic RV are less than 2.11 km s~(-1)and 6.08 km s~(-1)based on the Mg I b triplet and Hαlines,*** calculate the systemic RVs of 30 RRc stars using the RV curve templates constructed with the Mg I b triplet and Hαlines and find the systemic RVs are comparable with each *** RV curve template will be particularly useful for obtaining the systemic RV of RRc using the LAMOST spectroscopy.

Biodiversity Assessment of Avifauna in the Forest Reservation of Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT), Philippines

The research study was conducted to assess and quantify the current status of avifauna biodiversity assets of Aurora State College of Technology’s Forest Reservation in Baler, Aurora, Philippines. Assessment of avifaunal diversity was undertaken by traversing the four established circular plots having a radius of 125 meters or 250 meters diameters each as permanent monitoring stations. Study revealed a total number of 151 Individual species, classified into 23 genera and 21 families. Eighteen of these species are endemic while the remaining five were fully migrated birds. All birds observed were classified as Least Concern (LC) species according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species and the updated list of the birds of the World online. Its abundance, richness and diversity index were calculated using Shannon Diversity Index (H') while Pielou’s evenness (J') for distribution of species. Forest reservation of ASCOT has more even (0.756 J') and moderate diversity (2.812 H') observation on avifauna in general. However, this avian population evaluation was threatened into a verge of extinction due to natural and anthropological threats that causes forest deforestation. Such deforestation of habitat causes dwindling of wildlife territory leading to the scarcity of bird’s population. Thus, the assessment was conducted to aid ASCOT administration find significant plans to ensure sustainable conservation and protection of the remaining avifauna species in the reservation area.

Short turn radius colonoscope in an anatomical model: Retroflexed withdrawal and detection of hidden polyps

AIM: To evaluate the new Retro View^(TM) colonoscope and compare its ability to detect simulated polyps "hidden" behind colonic folds with that of a conventional colonoscope, utilizing anatomic colon ***: Three anatomic colon models were prepared,with twelve simulated polyps "hidden" behind haustral folds and five placed in easily viewed locations in each model. Five blinded endoscopists examined two colon models in random order with the conventional or Retro View^(TM) colonoscope, utilizing standard withdrawal technique. The third colon model was then examined with the Retro View^(TM) colonoscope withdrawn initially in retroflexion and then in standard withdrawal. Polyp detection rates during standard and retroflexed withdrawal of the conventional and Retro View^(TM) colonoscopes were determined. Polyp detection rates for combined standard and retroflexed withdrawal(combination withdrawal) with the Retro View^(TM) colonoscope were also ***: For hidden polyps, retroflexed withdrawal using the Retro View^(TM) colonoscope detected more polyps than the conventional colonoscope in standard withdrawal(85% vs 12%, P = 0.0001). For hidden polyps, combination withdrawal with the Retro View^(TM) colonoscope detected more polyps than the conventional colonoscope in standard withdrawal(93% vs 12%, P ≤ 0.0001). The Retro View^(TM) colonoscope in "combination withdrawal" was superior to other methods in detecting all(hidden + easily visible) polyps, with successful detection of 80 of 85 polyps(94%) compared to 28(32%) polyps detected by the conventional colonoscope in standard withdrawal(P < 0.0001) and 67(79%) polyps detected by the Retro View^(TM) colonoscope in retroflexed withdrawal alone(P < 0.01). Continuous withdrawal of the colonoscope through the colon model while retroflexed was achieved by all endoscopists. Neuro-optimized numerical treatment of HIV infection model

In this paper,a neuro-optimized numerical method is presented for approximation of HIV virus progression model in the human *** model is composed of coupled nonlinear system of differential equations(DEs)containing healthy and infected T-Cells and HIV free virus *** coupled system is transformed into feedforward artificial neural network(ann)with Mexican hat wavelet function in the hidden *** meta-heuristic algorithms based on chaotic particle swarm optimization(CPSO)and its hybrid version with local search technique are exploited to tune the parameters of ann in an unsupervised manner of error function.A comprehensive testbed is established to observe the virus growth per day with performance metric containing fitness value,computational time complexity and *** proposed solutions are compared with state of art Runge-Kutta method and Legendre Wavelet Collocation Method(LWCM).The core advantages of the proposed scheme are getting the solution on continuous grid,consistent convergence,simplicity in implementation and handling strong nonlinearity effectively.

Perioperative glucose management and outcomes in liver transplant recipients: A qualitative systematic review

AIM To investigate the relationship between post-liver transplantation(LT) glycemic control and LT outcomes. METHODS A qualitative systematic review on relevant prospective interventions designed to control glucose levels including insulin protocols. Studies investigating an association between glycemic control and post-LT outcomes such as mortality, graft rejection, and infection rate were reviewed. Pub Med, EMBASE, and other databases were searched through October 2016. RESULTS Three thousands, six hundreds and ninety-two patients from 14 studies were included. Higher mortality rate was seen when blood glucose(BG) ≥ 150 mg/dL(P = 0.05). BG ≥ 150 mg/dL also led to higher rates of infection. Higher rates of graft rejection were seen at BG > 200 mg/dL(P < 0.001). Mean BG ≥ 200 mg/dL was associated with more infections(P = 0.002).Nurse-initiated protocols and early screening strategies have shown a reduction in negative post-LT *** Hyperglycemia in the perioperative period is associated with poor post-LT outcomes. Only a few prospective studies have designed interventions aimed at managing post-LT hyperglycemia, post-transplant diabetes mellitus(PTDM) and their impact on post-LT outcomes.

Diurnal variation in phloem sap composition has a strong infuence on aphid *** sugar-rich phloem sap serves as the sole diet for aphids and a suite of physiological mechanisms and behaviors allowv them to tolerate the high osmotic ***,we tested the hypothesis that night-time feeding by aphids is a behavior that takes advantage of the low sugar diet in the night to compensate for osmotic stress incurred while feeding on high sugar diet during the *** the electrical penetration graph(EPG)*** examined the eiects of diurmal rhythm on feeding behaviors of bird cherry-oat aphid(Rhopalosiphurm padi L.)on wheat.A strong diurmal rhythm in aphids as indicated by the presence of a cyclical pattern of expression in a core clock gene did not impact aphid feeding and similar feeding behaviors were observed during day and *** major difference observed between day and night feeding was that aphids spent significantly longer time in phloem salivation during the night compared to the *** contrast,aphid hydration was reduced at the end of the day-time feeding compared to end of the night-time *** expression analysis of *** osmoregulatory genes indicated that sugar break down and water transport into the aphid gut was reduced at *** data suggest that while diumal variation occurs in phloem sap composition,aphids use night time feeding to overcome the high osmotic stress incurred while feeding on sugar-rich phloem sap during the day.

Prunus domestica commonly known as European plum is a hexaploid fruit tree species cultivated around the *** it is used for fresh consumption,in jams or jellies,and the production of spirits while commercially the fruit is primarily sold dried(prunes).Despite its agricultural importance and long history of cultivation,many questions remain about the origin of this species,the relationships among its many pomological types,and its underlying ***,we used a sequence-based genotyping approach to characterize worldwide plum germplasm including the potential progenitor Eurasian plum *** of 405 DNA samples established a set of four clades consistent with the pomological groups Greengages,Mirabelles,European plums,and d’Agen(French)prune plums.A number of cultivars from each clade were identified as likely clonal selections,particularly among the“French”type prune germplasm that is widely cultivated ***,there was relatively low genetic diversity across all cultivated plums suggesting they have been largely inbred and/or derived from a limited number of *** results agree with *** having originated as an interspecific hybrid of a diploid *** and a tetraploid *** that itself may have been an interspecific hybrid of *** and an unknown Eurasian plum *** low genetic diversity and lack of true wild-types coupled with the known cultivation history of Eurasian plums imply that *** may have been a product of inter-specific cross breeding and artificial selection by early agrarian Eurasian societies.
