Lignin,lignosulfonate,and synthesized phosphorylated lignosulfonate were introduced as greenﬁllers in citric acid-sucrose adhesives for bonding particleboard fabricated from areca leaf sheath(ALS).The characteristics of particleboards were compared to that of ultralow emitting formaldehyde(ULEF-UF).Theﬁllers derived from Eucalyptus ***-lignin were added forﬂame retardancy enhancement.10%of each lignin and modiﬁed lig-nin was added into the ULEF-UF and citric acid-sucrose bonded *** applied to particle-boards included thermal characteristics,X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD),morphological properties,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),as well as physical,mechanical,andﬁre resistance characteristics of the laboratory-fabricated *** and modiﬁed lignin resulted in improved thermal stability of the composites bonded with ULEF-UF while the improvement in the particleboard bonded with citric acid-sucrose was not signiﬁ*** introduction ofﬁller exerted a higher inﬂuence on the UF-bonded particleboards compared to composites fabricated with citric ***,the presence of lignin,lignosulfonate,and phosphorylated lignosulfonate enhanced the mechanical strength of the ULEF-bonded particleboards,although their dimensional stability has ***,the use of lignin and lignosulfonate enhanced theﬁre resis-tance of the particleboards produced with lower observed weight *** laboratory particleboards exhibited satisfactoryﬁre resistance,attaining a V-0 rating in according to the UL-94 standard.

Eye tracking is growing in popularity for multiple application areas,yet analysing and exploring the large volume of complex data remains difficult for most *** present a comprehensive eye tracking visual analytics system to enable the exploration and presentation of eye-tracking data across time and space in an efficient *** application allows the user to gain an overview of general patterns and perform deep visual analysis of local gaze *** ability to link directly to the video of the underlying scene allows the visualisation insights to be verified on the *** system was motivated by the need to analyse eye-tracking data collected from an‘in the wild’study with energy network operators and has been further evaluated via interviews with 14 eye-tracking experts in multiple *** suggest that,thanks to state-of-the-art visualisation techniques and by providing context with videos,our system could enable an improved analysis of eye-tracking data through interactive exploration,facilitating comparison between different participants or conditions,thus enhancing the presentation of complex data analysis to *** research paper provides four contributions:(1)analysis of a motivational use case demonstrating the need for rich visual-analytics workflow tools for eye-tracking data;(2)a highly dynamic system to visually explore and present complex eye-tracking data;(3)insights from our applied use case evaluation and interviews with experienced users demonstrating the potential for the system and visual analytics for the wider eye-tracking community.

Metabolic syndrome and prostate abnormalities in male subjects of infertile couples

No previous study has evaluated systematically the relationship between metabolic syndrome （MetS） and prostate-related symptoms and signs in young infertile men. We studied 171 （36.5 ±8.3-years-old） males of infertile couples. MetS was defined based on the National Cholesterol Education Program Third Adult Treatment Panel. All men underwent hormonal （including total testosterone （TT） and insulin）, seminal （including interleukin-8 （IL-8）, seminal plasma IL-8 （sIL-8））, scrotal and transrectal ultrasound evaluations. Because we have previously assessed correlations between MetS and scrotal parameters in a larger cohort of infertile men, here, we focused on transrectal features. Prostate-related symptoms were assessed using the National Institutes of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index （NIH-CPSI） and the International Prostate Symptom Score （IPSS）. Twenty-two subjects fulfilled MetS criteria. In an age-adjusted logistic ordinal model, insulin levels increased as a function of MetS components （Wald = 29.5, P〈 0.0001） and showed an inverse correlation with TT （adjusted r = -0.359, P 〈 0.0001）. No association between MetS and NIH-CPSI or IPSS scores was observed. In an age-, TT-, insulin-adjusted logistic ordinal model, an increase in number of MetS components correlated negatively with normal sperm morphology （Wald -- 5.59, P〈 0.02） and positively with slL-8 levels （Wald = 4.32, P〈 0.05）, which is a marker of prostate inflammation, with prostate total and transitional zone volume assessed using ultrasound （Wald = 17.6 and 12.5, both P〈 0.0001）, with arterial peak systolic velocity （Wald = 9.57, P= 0.002）, with texture nonhomogeneity （hazard ratio （HR） = 1.87 （1.05-3.33）, P 〈 0.05）, with calcification size （Wald = 3.11, P 〈 0.05）, but not with parameters of seminal vesicle size or function. In recent years, the need for low energy materials has become increasingly important. With government targets aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 80% by 2050, and the construction industry being responsible for 50% of the UK＇s carbon emissions, it is of vital importance that positive changes are made. One of these changes is to reduce the carbon footprint of the materials used in construction. Lime mortar has been used for centuries, but since the arrival of cement, its use in modern construction has diminished, in part due to having lower compressive strengths than cement mortar. Air lime mortar, in particular, can be categorised as low energy due to the reabsorption of a significant amount of COE during the setting process： carbonation. The current study focuses on the impact of different types of aggregate （limestone and silicate） on air lime mortar strength. Previous research has found that higher strengths can be achieved with the use of limestone aggregate, but little is known about the reasons why. The research presented here looks at a microstructural analysis through use of SEM （scanning electron microscopy） in order to determine reasons behind the strength differences. At early stages of curing, there are clear differences at the interface of binder and aggregate.
