brain diseases affect millions of people and have a huge social and economic *** use of neural probes for studies in animals has been the main approach to increasing knowledge about neural network ***,neuroscientists are trying to develop new and more effective therapeutic approaches to treating neurological *** implementation of neural probes with multifunctionalities(electrical,optical,and fluidic interactions)has been increasing in the last few years,leading to the creation of devices with high temporal and spatial *** the applicability of,and elements integrated into,neural probes has also led to the necessity to create flexible interfaces,reducing neural tissue damage during probe implantation and increasing the quality of neural acquisition *** this paper,we review the fabrication,characterization,and validation of several types of flexible neural probes,exploring the main advantages and drawbacks of these ***,future developments and applications are ***,this review aims to present the currently available flexible devices and future appropriate avenues for development as possible guidance for future engineered devices.

Thiel-behnke Corneal Dystrophy in a Young Man in Denmark—A Case Report

background: This case report presents a case of bilateral Thiel-behnke corneal dystrophy in Denmark. Thiel-behnke is an autosomal dominant inherited epithelial-stromal TGFbI dystrophy causing visual impairment. Methods and Results: This case study presents a 24-year-old Lithuanian man, with no previous ocular history, who had experienced slowly progressive visual impairment since his childhood. He was examined at the Department of Ophthalmology at Vejle Hospital and Aarhus University Hospital, where he was diagnosed with bilateral Thiel-behnke corneal dystrophy. Histology confirmed the diagnosis. A lamellar corneal transplantation was performed in the right eye;however, due to epithelial growth under the corneal graft, it was later decided to redo the operation. Following the operations, the patient experienced a visual improvement in best corrected visual acuity (bCVA) from 0.1 (20/25 Snellen equivalent) to 0.3 (20/40 Snellen equivalent) in his right eye. Conclusions: This case of Thiel-behnke corneal dystrophy is to our knowledge the first reported case in Denmark.

The prevalence of human immunodeficiency virus (AIDS) and hepatitis b virus among heavy truck drivers and their assistants has been well documented globally in correlation with their behavioral characteristics. The present study aimed to screen for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis b virus (HbV), and behavioral characteristics among heavy truck drivers in Port Sudan. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 274 heavy truck drivers and their assistants who used the highway Port Sudan-Khartoum in Port Sudan city during 2019-2021. Data on behavioral characteristics and substance use habits were collected using a structured questionnaire, and an ELISA test was used to screen for HIV and HbV infections in the study participants. The chi-square test, odds ratio, and confidence intervals were used to find the association between behavioral characteristics and seropositive HIV/HbV. Of the 274 enrolled participants, the seroprevalence rates of HIV were 2.7% and HbV was 23.7%. Ninety-four (34.3%) of them had a history of high-risk sexual behavior outside of marriage;only two (0.7%) used condoms;14.2% of participants reported alcohol use;and 1.1% reported drug use. Univariate analysis revealed that having a sex history outside of marriage with ≥1 sex partner and never using a condom with a spouse or casual partner were significant risk factors for HIV and HbV among drivers. Fortunately, we found that most of the drivers reported low alcohol and drug use. Concerning this study, the seroprevalence of HIV and HbV is highly associated with a history of having sex outside of marriage and sexual behavior among truck drivers and assistances. Additional studies are needed to further investigate other STIs and behavioral characteristics associated with factors in truck drivers/assistance in different truck stop regions in Sudan.

脑部疾病影响着数百万人，并对社会和经济产生巨大影响。在动物研究中，神经探针的应用一直是增进神经网络功能知识的主要途径。神经科学家正在努力开发新型且更加有效的神经疾病治疗方法。近年来，多功能神经探针（包括电学、光学和流体相互作用）的研发不断增加，产生了更高时空分辨率的设备。增加神经探针的适用性以及集成元素，促进了柔性接口的需求，减少了探针植入期间对神经组织的损伤，并提高了神经采集数据的质量。本文综述了几种柔性神经探针的制备、表征和验证，探讨了这些器件的主要优缺点。最后，对其今后的发展及应用作了展望。总体而言，本综述旨在介绍目前可用的柔性神经探针设备及其未来可能的发展途径，为未来设备设计提供指导。
