High-risk symptoms and quantitative faecal immunochemical test accuracy: Systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUnD The quantitative faecal immunochemical test for haemoglobin(FIT) has been revealed to be highly accurate for colorectal cancer(CRC) detection not only in a screening setting, but also in the assessment of patients presenting lower bowel symptoms. Therefore, the national Institute for Health and Care Excellence has recommended the adoption of FIT in primary care to guide referral for suspected CRC in low-risk symptomatic patients using a 10 μg Hb/g faeces ***, it is unknown whether FIT′s accuracy remains stable throughout the broad spectrum of possible *** To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess FIT accuracy for CRC detection in different clinical *** A systematic literature search was performed using MEDLInE and EMBASE databases from inception to May 2018 to conduct a meta-analysis of prospective studies including symptomatic patients that evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of quantitative FIT for CRC detection. Studies were classified on the basis of brand,threshold of faecal haemoglobin concentration for a positive test result,percentage of reported symptoms(solely symptomatic, mixed cohorts) and CRC prevalence(neity and perform subgroup analysis to assess the influence of clinical spectrum on FIT′s accuracy to detect *** Fifteen cohorts including 13073 patients(CRC prevalence 0.4% to 16.8%) were identified. Pooled estimates of sensitivity for studies using OC-Sensor at 10 μg Hb/g faeces threshold(n = 10400) was 89.6% [95% confidence interval(CI): 82.7%to 94.0%). Security-constrained model for integrated power and natural-gas system

One of the main factors impacting the reliability of energy systems nowadays is the growing interdependence between electricity and gas networks due to the increase in the installation of gas-fired units. Securityconstrained unit commitment(SCUC) models are used to economically schedule generating units without compromising the system reliability. This paper proposes a novel SCUC formulation that includes dynamic gas constraints,such as the line pack, and transmission contingencies in power and gas networks for studying the integrated system reliability. A Benders’ decomposition with linear programming techniques is developed to be able to study large systems. By including dynamic gas constraints into the SCUC, the proposed model accounts for the flexibility and reliability that power systems require from gas systems in the short term. Case studies of different size and complexity are employed to illustrate how the reliability of one system is affected by the reliability of the other. These experiments show how both systems operate in a secure way(by including contingencies) increases operating costs by approximately 9% and also show how these costs can vary by 24% depending on the line pack scheduling.

Smallanthus sonchifolius roots ameliorate non-alcoholic fatty liver disease by reducing redox imbalance and hepatocyte damage in rats fed with a high fructose diet

Objective: To evaluate the potential of Smallanthus sonchifolius(S. sonchifolius) roots in ameliorating hepatic damage of rats fed with a high fructose ***: The effect of S. sonchifolius roots on energy intake, body weight, fat and liver mass was determined in male rats fed with a high-fructose diet. Plasma glucose, triglycerides, total cholesterol, lipoproteins and aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase were analyzed. Histological changes of the livers were evaluated by electronic microscopy and apoptosis was examined using the TUnEL method. The levels of malondialdehyde, reducedglutathione and antioxidant enzymes(catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione S-transferase) activities were also ***: S. sonchifolius roots significantly decreased energy intake, body weight, fat and liver mass(P nchifolius roots ameliorated liver steatosis and mitochondrial morphology, avoiding cellular apoptosis and normalizing transaminase activity in the liver of rats fed with high fructose. Enzymatic assays revealed that S. sonchifolius roots had a modulatory effect on the oxidative stress induced by fructose-feeding by reducing lipid peroxidation(P nd antioxidant enzyme activities(P n ***: S. sonchifolius roots can ameliorate non-alcoholic fatty liver disease by improving oxidative stress and liver injury.

C3G is a GEF(guanine nucleotide exchange factor)for Rap GTPases,among which the isoform Rap1b is an essential protein in platelet *** transgenic mouse models with platelet-specific overexpression of C3G or mutant C3GΔCat,we have unveiled a new function of C3G in regulating the hemostatic function of platelets through its participation in the thrombin-PKCRap1b pathway.C3G also plays important roles in angiogenesis,tumor growth,and metastasis through its regulation of the platelet *** addition,C3G contributes to megakaryopoiesis and ***,we used a platelet-specific C3G-KO mouse model to further support the role of C3G in hemostasis.C3G-KO platelets showed a significant delay in platelet activation and aggregation as a consequence of the defective activation of Rap1,which resulted in decreased thrombus formation in ***,we explored the contribution of C3G-Rap1b to platelet signaling pathways triggered by thrombin,PMA or ADP,in the referenced transgenic mouse model,through the use of a battery of specific *** found that platelet C3G is phosphorylated at Tyr504 by a mechanism involving *** phosphorylation was shown to be positively regulated by ERKs through their inhibition of the tyrosine phosphatase ***,C3G participates in the ADP-P2Y12-PI3K-Rap1b pathway and is a mediator of thrombin-TXA2 ***,it inhibits the synthesis of TXA2 through cPLA2 *** together,our data reveal the critical role of C3G in the main pathways leading to platelet activation and aggregation through the regulation of Rap1b.

Electromagnetic Coupling of negative Parity nucleon Resonances n(1535) Based on nonrelativistic Constituent Quark Model

The electromagnetic transition between the nucleon and excited baryons has long been recognized as an important source of information for understanding strong interactions in the domain of quark confinement. We study the electromagnetic properties of the excitation of the negative parity the n~*(1535) resonances in the nonrelativistic constituent quark model at large momentum transfers and have performed a calculation the longitudinal and transverse helicity amplitudes. Since the helicity amplitudes depend strongly on the quark wave function in this paper, we consider the baryon as a simple, non-relativistically three-body quark model and also consider a hypercentral potential scheme for the internal baryon structure, which makes three-body forces among three quarks. Since the hyper central potential depends only on the hyper radius, therefore, the Cornell potential which is a combination of the Coulombic-like term plus a linear confining term is considered as the potential for interaction between quarks. In our work, in solving the Schrodinger equation with the Cornell potential, the nikiforov–Uvarov method employed, and the analytic eigen-energies and eigen-functions obtained. By using the obtained eigen-functions, the transition amplitudes calculated. We show that our results in the range Q^2> 2GeV^2 lead to an overall better agreement with the experimental data in comparison with the other three non-relativistic quark models.

Maintaining software once implemented on the end-user side is laborious and,over its lifetime,is most often considerably more expensive than the initial software *** prediction of software maintainability lias emerged as an important research topic to address industry expectations for reducing costs,in particular,maintenance *** and practitioners have been working on proposing and identifying a variety of techniques ranging from statistical to machine learning(ML)for better prediction of software *** review has been carried out to analyze the empirical evidence on the accuracy of software product maintainability prediction(SPMP)using ML *** paper analyzes and discusses the findings of 77 selected studies published from 2000 to 2018 according to the following criteria:maintainability prediction techniques,validation methods,accuracy criteria,overall accuracy of ML techniques,and the techniques offering the best *** review process followed the well-known syslematic review *** results show that ML techniques are frequently used in predicting *** particular,artificial neural network(Ann),support vector machine/regression(SVM/R).regression&decision trees(DT),and fuzzy neuro fuzzy(FnF)techniques are more accurate in terms of PRED and *** n-fold and leave-one-out cross-validation methods,and the MMRE and PRED accuracy criteria are frequently used in empirical *** general,ML techniques outperformed non-machine learning techniques,e.g.,regression analysis(RA)techniques,while FnF outperformed SVM/*** Ann in most ***,while many techniques were reported superior,no specific one can be identified as the best.
