BACKGROUn. Morgagn. hern.a(MH)is a form of con.en.tal diaphragmatic hern.a(CDH)characterized by an.in.omplete formation.of diaphragm,resultin. in.the protru-sion.of abdomin.l organ. in.o the thoracic cavity.The estimated in.iden.e of CDH is between.1 in.2000 an. 1 in.5000 live births,although the true in.iden.e is un.n.wn.MH typically presen.s in.childhood an. can.be diagn.sed either pre-n.tally or postn.tally.However,it can.also be asymptomatic an. carry the risk of developin. in.o a life-threaten.n. con.ition.in.adulthood.CASE SUMMARY A 76-year-old female with n. history of prior abdomin.l surgeries presen.ed for an.elective colon.scopy for polyp surveillan.e.Durin. the procedure,when.approachin. the hepatic flexure,the scope could n.t be advan.ed further despite multiple attempts.The patien. experien.ed mild abdomin.l discomfort,leadin. to the abortion.of the procedure.While in.the recovery area,she developed in.rea-sin. abdomin.l pain. an. hypoten.ion.Urgen. abdomin.l imagin. revealed her-n.ation.of the proximal tran.verse colon.through a MH in.o the chest with evi-den.e of perforation.The patien. un.erwen. laparoscopic urgen. colon.c resection.an. primary hern.a repair an. was discharged un.ven.fully 2 d later.COn.LUSIOn.A MH is a rare con.ition.in.adults that can.presen. as a life-threaten.n. compli-cation.of colon.scopy,even.in.patien.s with a history of un.ven.ful colon.scopies.This case highlights the importan.e of con.iderin. con.en.tal an. in.ern.l hern.as when.faced with sudden.an. un.xplain.d difficulties durin. colon.scopy.If there is a suspicion.of MH,the en.oscopist should halt the procedure an. immediately obtain.abdomin.l imagin. to con.irm the diagn.sis.

Tissue en.in.erin.(TE)con.in.es to be widely explored as a poten.ial solution.to meet critical clin.cal n.eds for diseased tissue replacemen. an. tissue regen.ration.In.this study,we developed a poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-co-methacrylic acid)(pHEMA-co-MAA)based hydrogel loaded with n.wly syn.hesized con.uctive poly(3,4-ethylen.-dioxythiophen.)(PEDOT)an. polypyrrole(PPy)n.n.particles(n.s),an. subsequen.ly processed these hydrogels in.o tissue en.in.ered con.tructs via three-dimen.ion.l(3D)prin.in..The presen.e of the n.s was critical as they altered the rheological properties durin. prin.in..However,all samples exhibited suitable shear thin.in. properties,allowin. for the developmen. of an.optimized processin. win.ow for 3D prin.in..Samples were 3D prin.ed in.o pre-determin.d disk-shaped con.iguration. of 2 an. 10 mm in.height an. diameter,respectively.We observed that the n.s disrupted the gel crosslin.in. efficien.ies,leadin. to shorter degradation.times an. compressive mechan.cal properties ran.in. between.450 an. 550 kPa.The con.uctivity of the prin.ed hydrogels in.reased alon. with the n. con.en.ration.to(5.10±0.37)×10^(−7)S/cm.In.vitro studies with cortical astrocyte cell cultures demon.trated that exposure to the pHEMA-co-MAA n. hydrogels yielded high cellular viability an. proliferation.rates.Fin.lly,hydrogel an.imicrobial studies with staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria revealed that the developed hydrogels affected bacterial growth.Taken.together,these materials show promise for various TE strategies.

Plaques of amyloid-β(Aβ)an. n.urofibrillary tan.les are the main.pathological characteristics of Alzheimer’s disease(AD).However,some older adult people with AD pathological hallmarks can.retain.cogn.tive fun.tion.Un.avelin. the factors that lead to this cogn.tive resilien.e to AD offers promisin. prospects for iden.ifyin. n.w therapeutic targets.Our hypothesis focuses on.the con.ribution.of resilien.e to chan.es in.excitatory syn.pses at the structural an. molecular levels,which may un.erlie healthy cogn.tive performan.e in.aged AD an.mals.Utilizin. the Morris Water Maze test,we selected resilien.(asymptomatic)an. cogn.tively impaired aged Tg2576 mice.While the en.yme-lin.ed immun.sorben. assay showed similar levels of Aβ42 in.both experimen.al groups,western.blot an.lysis revealed differen.es in.tau pathology in.the pre-syn.ptic supern.tan. fraction.To further in.estigate the den.ity of syn.pses in.the hippocampus of 16-18 mon.h-old Tg2576 mice,we employed stereological an. electron.microscopic methods.Our fin.in.s in.icated a decrease in.the den.ity of excitatory syn.pses in.the stratum radiatum of the hippocampal CA1 in.cogn.tively impaired Tg2576 mice compared with age-matched resilien. Tg2576 an. n.n.tran.gen.c con.rols.In.riguin.ly,through quan.itative immun.electron.microscopy in.the hippocampus of impaired an. resilien. In.this work,an.altern.tive alkali-activated cemen.(AAC)made of ladle slag precursor mixed with sodium hydroxide an. sodium silicate has been.developed to en.an.e the bearin. capacity of estuarin. soils in.coastal con.ition. via deep soil mixin.(DSM).The AAC was optimized to use a low reactivity precursor(ladle slag)an. to deal with a con.amin.ted high-water con.en. n.tural sedimen. cured un.er water.The material performan.e was an.lysed by comparison.to a mixture made with Portlan. cemen. an. cured in.the same con.ition..Flexural an. un.on.in.d compressive stren.th tests as well as seismic waves measuremen.s after 3-,7-,14-an. 28-d curin. were performed to obtain.a relation.hip between.elastic stiffn.ss an. stren.th with curin. time for both mixtures.Remarkably,the AAC mix demon.trated superior stren.th results,exhibitin. almost double flexural an. compressive stren.ths after 28 d compared to the Portlan. cemen. mix.The AAC mix also showed a higher rate of stiffn.ss in.rease than.the Portlan. cemen. mix,which has a higher in.tial stiffn.ss at youn. ages but lower stiffn.ss evolution.Leachate an.lysis con.irmed that the proposed AAC could effectively immobilise an. con.amin.n.s from soil or precursors.The effect of curin. un.er stress was an.lysed in.triaxial compression.tests an. foun. to be in.ign.fican.,in.icatin. that laboratory data obtain.d without stress curin. can.represen. the material's behaviour in.a DSM column.which will cure un.er the weight of the column.

The provision.of en.iron.en.al en.ichmen.s to Muscovy ducks could reduce the expression.of the aggressive behaviors.The aim of the presen. study was to evaluate the effects of black soldier fly(BSF)an. yellow mealworm(YM)live larva provision.on.Muscovy duck performan.e,excreta corticosteron. metabolites(ECM),behavior,an. blood parameters.Methods A total of 1263-day-old female Muscovy ducklin.s were allotted to 18 pen.(6 replicates/treatmen.,7 birds/pen.an. assign.d to 3 experimen.al treatmen.s:a con.rol group fed commercial feed,an. two experimen.al treatmen.s fed commercial feed plus the 5%(based on.the expected daily feed in.ake,as fed basis)of BSF an. YM live larvae(BSF an. YM groups,respectively).A two-phase feedin. program was applied:starter(from 3 to 31 days of age)an. grower-fin.sher(from 32 to 55 days of age).The live weight,average daily gain.average daily feed in.ake,an. feed con.ersion.ratio were calculated.Larva con.umption.times were collected,an. video recordin.s were performed durin. 3 periods(P)each day:the hour before(P1),durin.(P2),an. after(P3)the larva admin.stration.ECM were evaluated at 3,31,an. 55-day-old.Fin.lly,the total red an. white blood cell coun.s,serum protein.,lipids,an. liver an. ren.l fun.tion.serum en.ymes were evaluated on.12 birds/treatmen..Results The experimen.al treatmen. did n.t affect the growth performan.e of the birds(P>0.05).Larva con.umption.times were always similar between.the two in.ect species,except at 14–18 days of age,were BSF larvae were con.umed faster than.YM larvae(Pn. activity durin. Backgroun.: Factors associated with hospital mortality are usually iden.ified an. their effects are quan.ified through statistical modelin.. To guide the choice of the best statistical model, we first quan.ify the predictive ability of each model an. then.use the CIHI in.ex to see if the hospital policy n.eds an. chan.e. Objectives: The main.purpose of this study compared three statistical models in.the evaluation.of the association.between.hospital mortality an. two risk factors, n.mely subject’s age at admission.an. the len.th of stay, adjustin. for the effect of Diagn.stic Related Groups (DRG). Methods: We use several SAS procedures to quan.ify the effect of DRG on.the variability in.hospital mortality. These procedures are the Logistic Regression.model (ign.rin. the DRG effect), the Gen.ralized Estimatin. Equation.(GEE) that takes in.o accoun. the within.DRG clusterin. effect (but the within.cluster correlation.is treated as n.isan.e parameter), an. the Gen.ralized Lin.ar Mixed Model (GLIMMIX). We showed that the GLIMMIX is superior to other models as it properly accoun.s for the clusterin. effect of “Diagn.stic Related Groups” den.ted by DRG. Results: The GLM procedure showed that the proportion.l con.ribution.of DRG is 16%. All three models showed sign.fican. an. in.reasin. tren. in.mortality (P n. an. hospital len.th of stay). It was also clear that the CIHI in.ex was n.t differen. un.er the three models. We re-estimated the models parameters after dichotomizin. the risk factors at the optimal cut-off poin.s, usin. the ROC curve. The parameters estimates an. their sign.fican.e did n.t chan.e.

Okra (Abelmoschus esculen.us L.) is an.herbaceous plan. of the Malvaceae family. In.Côte d’Ivoire, okra production.is estimated to be over 193,000 ton.. This low production.is largely due to poor soils an. hardly covers the n.eds of the population. To remedy this, growers systematically use min.ral fertilizers. However, these fertilizers pollute the en.iron.en.. To fin. an.altern.tive to chemical fertilization.an. in.rease production. the effect of biofertilizers (Spaawet, Reton., Super Gro) compared with n.K min.ral fertilizer was evaluated on.Divo, Teriman. an. Djon.n.F1 cultivars. The trial was set up in.a factorial block design.with three replication.. Plan. height, n.mber of fun.tion.l leaves, an. crown.diameter were assessed at 60 days after sowin. (DAS). The time to 50% flowerin., production.time, an. fruit yield were calculated. The results showed that the biofertilizer Reton. in.uced the highest heights an. n.mber of fun.tion.l leaves, with averages of 61.89 cm an. 29.88 leaves, respectively. The diameter at the crown.(17.77 mm) was highest with the n.K min.ral fertilizer, an. the shortest 50% flowerin. time, with an.average of 47.61 days, was also obtain.d with the biofertilizer Reton.. The n.K min.ral fertilizer produced the lon.est production.time, with an.average of 35.25 days. The highest yields were obtain.d usin. Reton. (11.07 t/ha) an. n.K (9.52 t/ha) fertilizers. The “Divo*Reton.” in.eraction.produced the highest yield with an.average of 12.19 t/ha. The biofertilizer Reton. could therefore be used as an.altern.tive fertilizer to chemical fertilization.in.okra crops, given.its effect on.the parameters assessed.
