Quantifying relations between altered hydrology and fish community responses for streams in Minnesota

background:Altered hydrology is a stressor on aquatic life,but quantitative relations between specific aspects of streamflow alteration and biological responses have not been developed on a statewide scale in *** sub-sets regression analysis was used to develop linear regression models that quantify relations among five categories of hydrologic metrics(i.e.,duration,frequency,magnitude,rate-of-change,and timing)computed from streamgage records and six categories of biological metrics(i.e.,composition,habitat,life history,reproductive,tolerance,trophic)computed from fish-community samples,as well as fish-based indices of biotic integrity(FIbI)scores and FIbI scores normalized to an impairment threshold of the corresponding stream class(FIbI_bCG4).Relations between hydrology and fish community responses were examined using three hydrologic datasets that represented periods of record,long-term changes,and short-term changes to flow regimes in streams of ***:Regression models demonstrated significant relations between hydrologic explanatory metrics and fish-based biological response metrics,and the five regression models with the strongest linear relations explained over 70%of the variability in the biological metric using three hydrologic metrics as explanatory ***-based biological metrics demonstrated the strongest linear relations to hydrologic *** most commonly used hydrologic metrics were related to bankfull flows and aspects of flow ***:Final regression models represent paired streamgage records and biological samples throughout the State of Minnesota and encompass differences in stream orders,hydrologic landscape units,and watershed *** methods can support evaluations of stream fish communities and facilitate targeted efforts to improve the health of fish *** also can be applied to locations outside of Minnesota with continuous streamgage data and fish-community sampl

Geological Controls and Prospectivity Mapping for Manganese Ore Deposits Using Predictive Modeling Comparison:An Integration of Outcrop and Remote Sensing Data,Sinai Microplate,Egypt

One of the most controversial minerals in their origin and occurrence around the world is manganese *** Abu Zenima area is rated one of the most economically important places where manganese ore deposits(Mn ODs)are located in the southwest Sinai microplate,*** deposits are confined with the Um bogma Formation(UbF)and the reserves of this region are relatively *** this study,optical and radar data are used in a new challenge as an attempt to reach the closest controls and setting of Mn ***,Frequency Ratio(FR)and Logistic Regression(LogR)predictive models are applied to integrate different geospatial thematic maps,to predict new potential resource zones for increasing the ranges of mining ***8 OLI,Sentinel-2A Multi Spectral Instrument and Radar(Sentinel-1b)data are combined for mapping Mn ODs locations and their relationship with geological structures and the surrounding *** ratio,Principal and Independent Component Analysis techniques and four classification algorithms were implemented to the optical’VNIR and SWIR ***,the interferometric processing steps for Sentinel-1 data were made for understanding the tectonic features in the *** FR and LogR models are validated during fieldwork with known Mn ODs *** indicate that processed images are capable of differentiation of UbF which broadly distributed in the central and southern parts of the *** ODs possibly formed by thermal events that attributed to paleo-volcanic events before the rift *** high accuracy of LogR model(0.902)suggests that high Mn ODs potential zones are identified within the intersected fault zones near granitic *** integration is recommended for discriminating hydrothermally Mn ODs in other arid geographic regions.

Generating one-,two-,three-and four-scroll attractors from a novel four-dimensional smooth autonomous chaotic system

A new four-dimensional quadratic smooth autonomous chaotic system is presented in this paper, which can exhibit periodic orbit and chaos under the conditions on the system parameters. Importantly, the system can generate one-, two-, three- and four-scroll chaotic attractors with appropriate choices of parameters. Interestingly, all the attractors are generated only by changing a single parameter. The dynamic analysis approach in the paper involves time series, phase portraits, Poincare maps, a bifurcation diagram, and Lyapunov exponents, to investigate some basic dynamical behaviours of the proposed four-dimensional system.

In recent decades,an enormous effort has been made to elucidate the pathogenesis of autoimmune and autoinflammatory *** is a multifactorial process in which genetic,immunological,environmental and hormonal factors play in concert,together representing what was termed years ago the‘mosaic of autoimmunity’.To date,more than 80 systemic and organ-specific autoimmune diseases have been defined,and their cumulative burden is substantial,both medically and ***,the burden of autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases is rising,making these diseases a ubiquitous global phenomenon that is predicted to further increase in the coming *** this issue of the journal,additional aspects of autoimmunity are *** dysregulation and loss of self-tolerance are the cornerstones of autoimmunity.

Thirty-two essential questions for understanding the social-ecological system of forage fish:the case of pacific herring

Forage fishes are ecologically and economically important low trophic level species,and in recent years interest in their biology and management has *** Herring are emblemat-ic of the management issues facing forage species-they are central components of the Northeast Pacific pelagic food web and support important commercial *** addition,the importance of Herring to indigenous peoples have made them cultural keystone *** employed a participatory process to promote collaborative priority-setting for this critical forage *** with managers,the fisher-ies industry,indigenous peoples,and scientists,we co-constructed a conceptual model of the Pacific Her-ring social-ecological system(SES)in the Northeast *** then identified a set of questions,that,if answered,would significantly increase our ability to sustainably manage the Herring *** objective was to generate a road map for scientists who wish to conduct useful forage fish research,for resource managers who wish to develop new research efforts that could fill critical gaps,and for public agencies and private foundations seeking to prioritize funding on forage fish issues in the *** this socio-cultural centrality comes complexity for fisheries *** participatory process highlighted the value of conceptualizing the full SES,overcame disciplinary differences in scientific approaches,research philos-ophy,and language,and charted a path forward for future research and management for forage species.

A comprehensive simulation-based assessment of office building performance adaptability to teleworking scenarios in different Canadian climate zones

Recent studies have shown that office building systems do not adapt well to partial occupancy(e.g.,from teleworking)and thus perform *** a result,this study aims to assess office building performance adaptability by investigating the impact of four different technologies,including occupancy-based lighting,smart plugs(occupancy-based plug load),demand-controlled ventilation(DCV),occupancy-based thermostat,and their cumulative effect in office buildings in six different Canadian climates.A three-story office building is simulated in EnergyPlus version 9.3.0 under five occupancy scenarios,including 0%occupancy,100%occupancy,50%uniformly distributed occupancy across the floor,50%consolidated occupancy scenario where occupants work in core zones,and 50%consolidated occupancy scenario where occupants work in perimeter *** results are compared using energy use intensity(EUI),energy use intensity per occupant(EUP),and the corresponding greenhouse gas(GHG)emissions.A total of 180 simulations demonstrate the occupancy-adaptive technologies are generally most beneficial for low occupancy scenarios and milder *** results also show the cumulative impact of all these technologies on the potential energy savings is significant in the climates under ***,the results show office buildings can improve their performance adaptability during partial occupancy by implementing the studied *** from filling in the current knowledge gap in the literature on partial occupancy,the for the first time results of this study systemically demonstrate how each technology performs under different partial occupancy scenarios and how they perform together at each climate.

XRD study of intercalation in statically annealed composites of ethylene copolymers and organically modified ***-tailed organoclays

Ethylene copolymers with different polar comonomers,such as vinyl acetate,methyl acrylate,glycidyl methacrylate,and maleic anhydride,were used for the preparation of polymer/clay nanocomposites by statically annealing their mechanical mixtures with different commercial or home-made organically modified montmorillonites containing only one long alkyl *** nanostructure of the products was monitored by X-ray diffraction,and the dispersion of the silicate particles within the polymer matrix was qualitatively evaluated through microscopic *** effect of the preparation conditions on the structure and the morphology of the composites was also addressed through the characterization of selected samples with similar composition prepared by melt *** agreement with the findings reported in a previous paper for the composites filled with two-tailed organoclays,intercalation of the copolymer chains within the tighter galleries of the one-tailed clays occurs easily,independent of the application of a mechanical ***,the shear-driven break-up of the intercalated clay particles into smaller platelets(exfoliation)seems more hindered.A collapse of the organoclay interlayer spacing was only observed clearly for a commercial one-tailed organoclay-Cloisite®30b–whereas the same effect was almost negligible for a home-made organoclay with similar structure.

A comparison of condensate mass of QCD vacuum between Wilson line approach and Schwinger effect

We studied the condensate mass of QCD vacuum through the duality approach via dilaton wall back-ground in the presence of the parameter c,which represents the condensation in a holographic set ***,fromWilson line calculation,we found m_(0)^(2)(i.e.,the condensate parameter in mixed non-local condensation),whose beha-vior mimics that of *** value of m_(0)^(2)that we found by this approach is in agreement with QCD *** we considered the produced mass m via the Schwinger effect mechanism in the presence of the parameter *** show that vacuum condensation generally contributes the mass dominantly and that the produced mass via *** effect is suppressed by m_(0).

The thymus is a central lymphatic organ that is responsible for many immunological functions,including the production of mature,functional T cells and the induction of *** or malignant tumors may originate from the thymus gland,with thymoma being the most common and accounting for 50% of anterior mediastinal *** linked to thymoma include the loss of self-tolerance and the presence of *** this review,we compiled the current scientific evidence detailing the various interactions between thymoma and autoimmune diseases,including myasthenia gravis,systemic lupus erythematosus,inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion,pure red cell aplasia,pernicious anemia,pemphigus and autoimmune thyroid *** recent years,several mechanisms have been proposed to explain these *** are based on the assumption that the‘sick’thymus,like the‘normal’thymus,can generate mature T cells;however,the T cells generated by the sick thymus are impaired and thus may exert cellular ***,we present several theories that may shed light on the loss of self-tolerance associated with this epithelial tumor of the thymus.

Deep inelastic scattering with proton target in the presence of gluon condensation using holography

We study the deep inelastic scattering(DIS)of a proton-targeted lepton in the presence of gluon condensation using gauge/gravity *** use a modified AdS5background where the modification parameter c corresponds to the gluon condensation in the boundary ***,by examining the electromagnetic field,we establish that a non-zero c can increase field *** aim is to obtain the acceptable value of c for this *** method is based on setting the mass of the proton as an eigenvalue of the baryonic state equations of the DIS to find the acceptable value of the parameter c on the other side of the ***,in the second step,we calculate wave function equations for the baryonic states where the mass of the proton target requires a value contribution of c as c=0.0120 *** with the electromagnetic field and baryonic states,we derive the holographic interaction action related to the amplitude of the ***,we compute the corresponding structure functions numerically as functions of x and q,which are bj?rken variables and the lepton momentum transfers,*** the Jlab Hall C data with our theoretical calculations,our results are acceptable.
