Biochemical and Molecular Effects of Phoenix dactyliferaand Ziziphus spina-christiExtracts on Candida albicans

Our overall knowledge of the medicinal uses of plants suggests that natural compounds could be useful in the treatment of cutaneous fungal infections in tropical regions. Furthermore, the possibilities of treatment using plant extracts may be even broader than is already known when one considers plants that have not been extensively studied in this context, such as the regional species Phoenix dactylifera and Ziziphus spina-christi. This study compared the antimicrobial activity of Phoenix dactylifera and Ziziphus spina-christi extracts in terms of their biochemical and molecular effects on Candida albicans (ATCC CA 10231). These effects included altered levels of intracellular sterols, changes in the permeability of the cell membrane, and changes in the TEF1: QRTTEF1, CaERG1: ERG1, CdERG12: CdERG1, and ERG25: ERG25 genes. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to identify morphological characteristics, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX) analyses were conducted. In treated samples, the SEM and EDAX analyses showed cell cavities and shrinkage of the cell wall, and the number of cells was reduced to only a few abnormal cells as compared with that in the untreated samples. Yttrium was detected in the cells treated with Z. spina-christi, and high levels of osmium were detected in the cells treated with P. dactylifera. Compared with control cells, cells exposed to the concentration 150 μl/ml of Z. spina-christi extract had an average sterol concentration that was nearly 3 times higher, while the concentration was 5.5 times higher for cells treated with the 150 μl/ml of P. dactylifera extract. The ethanol extracts affected the permeability of C. albicans cell membrane. Gene sequencing showed gaps and mismatches in the ERG1, ERG12, and ERG25 genes after treatment with P. dactylifera and Z. spina-christi extracts compared with that in the controls. Latent Growth Mixture Modeling to Estimate Differential PTSD Trajectories and Associated Risk Factors in Psychiatric Staff Following Workplace Violence

Background: Workplace violence (WV) towards psychiatric staff has commonly been associated with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). However, prospective studies have shown that not all psychiatric staff who experience workplace violence experience post-traumatic stress. Purpose: We want to examine the longitudinal trajectories of PTSD in this population to identify possible subgroups that might be more at risk. Furthermore, we need to investigate whether certain risk factors of PTSD might identify membership in the subgroups. Method: In a sample of psychiatric staff from 18 psychiatric wards in Denmark who had reported an incident of WV, we used Latent Growth Mixture Modelling (LGMM) and further logistic regression analysis to investigate this. Results: We found three separate PTSD trajectories: a recovering, a delayed-onset, and a moderate-stable trajectory. Higher social support and negative cognitive appraisals about oneself, the world and self-blame predicted membership in the delayed-onset trajectory, while higher social support and lower accept coping predicted membership in the delayed-onset trajectory. Conclusion: although most psychiatric staff go through a natural recovery, it is important to be aware of and identify staff members who might be struggling long-term. More focus on the factors that might predict these groups should be an important task for psychiatric departments to prevent posttraumatic symptomatology from work.

Assessing the Variability of Extreme Weather Events and Its Influence on Marine Accidents along the Northern Coast of Tanzania

The marine accidents are among the main components of the Zanzibar Disaster Management Policy (2011) and the Zanzibar Blue Economy Policy (2020). These policies aimed to institute legal frame works and procedures for reducing both the frequency of marine accidents and their associated fatalities. These fatalities include deaths, permanent disabilities and loss of properties which may result into increased poverty levels as per the sustainable development goal one (SDG1) which stipulates on ending the poverty in all its forms everywhere. Thus, in the way to support these Government efforts, the influence of climate and weather on marine accidents along Zanzibar and Pemba Channels was investigated. The study used the 10 years (2013-2022) records of daily rainfall and hourly wind speed acquired from Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) (for the observation stations of Zanzibar, Pemba, Dares Salaam and Tanga), and the significant wave heights data, which was freely downloaded from Globally Forecasting System (GFS-World model of 13 km resolution). The marine accident records were collected from TASAC and Zanzibar Maritime Authority (ZMA), and the anecdotal information was collected from heads of quay and boat captains in different areas of Zanzibar. The Mann Kendal test, was used to determine the slopes and trends direction of used weather parameters, while the Pearson correlations analysis and t-tests were used to understand the significance of the underlying relationship between the weather and marine accidents. The paired t-test was used to evaluate the extent to which weather parameters affect the marine accidents. Results revealed that the variability of extreme weather events (rainfall, ocean waves and wind speed) was seen to be among the key factors for most of the recorded marine accidents. For instance, in Pemba high rainfall showed an increasing trend of extreme rainfall events, while Zanzibar has shown a decreasing trend of these events. As for extreme wind

Electromagnetic Coupling of Negative Parity Nucleon Resonances N(1535) Based on Nonrelativistic Constituent Quark Model

The electromagnetic transition between the nucleon and excited baryons has long been recognized as an important source of information for understanding strong interactions in the domain of quark confinement. We study the electromagnetic properties of the excitation of the negative parity the N~*(1535) resonances in the nonrelativistic constituent quark model at large momentum transfers and have performed a calculation the longitudinal and transverse helicity amplitudes. Since the helicity amplitudes depend strongly on the quark wave function in this paper, we consider the baryon as a simple, non-relativistically three-body quark model and also consider a hypercentral potential scheme for the internal baryon structure, which makes three-body forces among three quarks. Since the hyper central potential depends only on the hyper radius, therefore, the Cornell potential which is a combination of the Coulombic-like term plus a linear confining term is considered as the potential for interaction between quarks. In our work, in solving the Schrodinger equation with the Cornell potential, the Nikiforov–Uvarov method employed, and the analytic eigen-energies and eigen-functions obtained. By using the obtained eigen-functions, the transition amplitudes calculated. We show that our results in the range Q^2> 2GeV^2 lead to an overall better agreement with the experimental data in comparison with the other three non-relativistic quark models.

Maintaining software once implemented on the end-user side is laborious and,over its lifetime,is most often considerably more expensive than the initial software *** prediction of software maintainability lias emerged as an important research topic to address industry expectations for reducing costs,in particular,maintenance *** and practitioners have been working on proposing and identifying a variety of techniques ranging from statistical to machine learning(ML)for better prediction of software *** review has been carried out to analyze the empirical evidence on the accuracy of software product maintainability prediction(SPMP)using ML *** paper analyzes and discusses the findings of 77 selected studies published from 2000 to 2018 according to the following criteria:maintainability prediction techniques,validation methods,accuracy criteria,overall accuracy of ML techniques,and the techniques offering the best *** review process followed the well-known syslematic review *** results show that ML techniques are frequently used in predicting *** particular,artificial neural network(ANN),support vector machine/regression(SVM/R).regression&decision trees(DT),and fuzzy neuro fuzzy(FNF)techniques are more accurate in terms of PRED and *** N-fold and leave-one-out cross-validation methods,and the MMRE and PRED accuracy criteria are frequently used in empirical *** general,ML techniques outperformed non-machine learning techniques,e.g.,regression analysis(RA)techniques,while FNF outperformed SVM/*** ANN in most ***,while many techniques were reported superior,no specific one can be identified as the best.

Design and preparation of a new multi-targeted drug delivery system using multifunctional nanoparticles for co-delivery of siRNA and paclitaxel

Drug resistance is a great challenge in cancer therapy using chemotherapeutic agents. Administration of these drugs with siRNA is an efficacious strategy in this battle. Here, the present study tried to incorporate siRNA and paclitaxel(PTX) simultaneously into a novel nanocarrier. The selectivity of carrier to target cancer tissues was optimized through conjugation of folic acid(FA) and glucose(Glu) onto its surface. The structure of nanocarrier was formed from ternary magnetic copolymers based on FeCopolyethyleneimine(FeCo-PEI) nanoparticles and polylactic acid-polyethylene glycol(PLA-PEG) gene delivery system. Biocompatibility of FeCo-PEI-PLA-PEG-FA(NPsA), FeCo-PEI-PLA-PEG-Glu(NPsB) and FeCo-PEI-PLA-PEG-FA/Glu(NPsAB) nanoparticles and also influence of PTX-loaded nanoparticles on in vitro cytotoxicity were examined using MTT assay. Besides, siRNA-FAM internalization was investigated by fluorescence microscopy. The results showed the blank nanoparticles were significantly less cytotoxic at various concentrations. Meanwhile, siRNA-FAM/PTX encapsulated nanoparticles exhibited significant anticancer activity against MCF-7 and BT-474 cell lines. NPsAB/siRNA/PTX nanoparticles showed greater effects on MCF-7 and BT-474 cells viability than NPsA/siRNA/PTX and NPsB/siRNA/***, they induced significantly higher anticancer effects on cancer cells compared with NPsA/siRNA/PTX and NPsB/siRNA/PTX due to their multi-targeted properties using FA and Glu. We concluded that NPsAB nanoparticles have a great potential for co-delivery of both drugs and genes for use in gene therapy and chemotherapy.

Extracellular RNAs(exRNAs) are novel circulating factors that can be used as biomarkers in various diseases. Their unique and diverse kinds, as well as their role as biomarkers, make them significant biomarkers. There has been immense work carried out since the discovery of exRNAs in circulation and other biological fluids to catalog and determine whether exRNAs may be utilized as indicators for health and illness. In this review, we aim to understand the current state of exRNAs in relation to various diseases and their potential as biomarkers. We will also review current issues and challenges faced in using exRNAs, with clinical and lab trials, that can be used as viable markers for different diseases.

Chiral electron deficient ruthenium helical coordination polymer as a catalyst for the epoxidation of substituted styrenes

An air and moisture stable ruthenium（Ⅲ） formate complex[Ru（HCO2）Cl2]n has been synthesized and examined in the epoxidation of substituted styrenes.X-ray crystallographic data of this complex were determined and showed that the formate ligand coordinates to the ruthenium centers in a μ~2-η~2 fashion（syn,syn）.Its asymmetric unit contains one Ru（Ⅲ） ion together with the half of a formate ligand and one chloride anion,which are bridged between the metal centers,forming a 1-D chain coordination *** electron deficient helical coordination polymer was employed in the epoxidation of parafluorostyrene,affording the epoxide product in 92%*** chirality of this coordination polymer is applicable in asymmetric epoxidation reactions.
