Alzheimer’s disease（AD）is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by accumulation of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary *** to the development of these characteristic pathological hallmarks of AD,anterograde axonal transport is ***,the key proteins that initiate these intracellular impairments remain *** collapsin response mediator protein-2（CRMP-2）plays an integral role in kinesin-1-dependent axonal transport and there is evidence that phosphorylation of CRMP-2releases ***,we tested the hypothesis that amyloid-beta（Aβ）-dependent phosphorylation of CRMP-2 disrupts its association with the kinesin-1（an anterograde axonal motor transport protein）in *** found that brain sections and lysates from AD patients demonstrated elevated phosphorylation of CRMP-2 at the T555 ***,in the transgenic Tg2576 mouse model of familial AD（FAD）that exhibits Aβaccumulation in the brain with age,we found substantial co-localization of p T555CRMP-2and dystrophic *** Sh-SY5Y differentiated neuronal cultures,Aβ-dependent phosphorylation of CRMP-2 at the T555 site was also elevated and this reduced the CRMP-2 association with *** overexpression of an unphosphorylatable form of CRMP-2 in neurons promoted the re-establishment of CRMP-2-kinesin association and axon *** data suggest that Aβ-dependent phosphorylation of CRMP-2 at the T555 site may directly impair anterograde axonal transport protein function,leading to neuronal defects.

Mutations in the protocadherin-19(PCDh19)gene(Xq22.1)cause the X-linked syndrome known as developmental and epileptic encephalopathy 9(DEE9,OMIM#300088)(Dibbens et al.,2008).DEE9 is characterized by early-onset clustering epilepsy associated with intellectual disability ranging from mild to profound,autism spectrum disorder,and other neuropsychiatric features including schizophrenia,anxiety,attentiondeficit/hyperactivity,and obsessive or aggressive *** seizures may become less frequent in adolescence,psychiatric comorbidities persist and often worsen with age(Dibbens et al.,2008;Kolc et al.,2020).

Background:Platinum chemotherapy(CT)remains the backbone of systemic therapy for patients with smallcell lung cancer(SCLC).The nucleotide excision repair(NER)pathway plays a central role in the repair of the DNA damage exerted by platinum *** in this repair mechanism may affect patients’*** and Methods:We conducted a retrospective analysis of data from 38 patients with extensive disease(ED)-SCLC who underwent platinum-CT at the Clinical Oncology Unit,Careggi University hospital,Florence(Italy),from 2015 to *** expression analysis and single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)characterization of three NER pathway genes—namely ERCC1,ERCC2,and ERCC5—were performed on patient tumor ***:Overall,elevated expression of ERCC genes was observed in SCLC patients compared to healthy *** with low ERCC1 and ERCC5 expression levels exhibited a better median progression-free survival(mPFS=7.1 vs.4.9 months,p=0.39 for ERCC1 and mPFS=6.9 vs.4.8 months,p=0.093 for ERCC5)and overall survival(mOS=8.7 vs.6.0 months,p=0.4 for ERCC1 and mOS=7.2 vs.6.2 months,p=0.13 for ERCC5).Genotyping analysis of five SNPs of ERCC genes showed a longer survival in patients harboring the wild-type genotype or the heterozygous variant of the ERCC1 rs11615 SNP(p=0.24 for PFS and p=0.14 for OS)and of the rs13181 and rs1799793 ERCC2 SNPs(p=0.43 and p=0.26 for PFS and p=0.21 and p=0.16 for OS,respectively)compared to patients with homozygous mutant ***:The comprehensive analysis of ERCC gene expression and SNP variants appears to identify patients who derive greater survival benefits from platinum-CT.

Nonlinear aspects of energy dissipation in wood-panel joints sara Casciati

The joints connecting vertical and horizontal elements are the ＂weak link＂ in structural systems assembled from wood panels. If they are too weak, local failures may occur, resulting in performance that is significantly below expectations. If they are too resistant, the joints may be unable to dissipate energy during vibrations, thus possibly initiating a fast progressive failure. This paper re-processes and re-elaborates the results of shaking table tests previously carried out by the author and other co-workers. The goal is to assess the feasibility of a joint which is able to dissipate energy during vibration, without degrading the connection performance.

Brain diseases affect millions of people and have a huge social and economic *** use of neural probes for studies in animals has been the main approach to increasing knowledge about neural network ***,neuroscientists are trying to develop new and more effective therapeutic approaches to treating neurological *** implementation of neural probes with multifunctionalities(electrical,optical,and fluidic interactions)has been increasing in the last few years,leading to the creation of devices with high temporal and spatial *** the applicability of,and elements integrated into,neural probes has also led to the necessity to create flexible interfaces,reducing neural tissue damage during probe implantation and increasing the quality of neural acquisition *** this paper,we review the fabrication,characterization,and validation of several types of flexible neural probes,exploring the main advantages and drawbacks of these ***,future developments and applications are ***,this review aims to present the currently available flexible devices and future appropriate avenues for development as possible guidance for future engineered devices.

Automatic characterization of spherical metal powders by microscope image analysis:a parallel computing approach

The microstructural characteristics of spherical metal powders play an important role in determining the quality of mechanical parts manufactured by powder metallurgy *** the individual powder particles from their microscopic images is one of the most convenient and cost-efficient methods for the analysis of powder *** numerous image processing algorithms have been developed for automating the powder particle identification process,they perform less accurately in identifying adjacent particles that are heavily overlapped in their image *** propose an automatic algorithm to robustly and accurately identify spherical powder particles,especially heavily overlapped particles,from their microscope images.A parallel computing framework is designed to further enhance the computational efficiency of the proposed *** characteristics such as particle size distribution and the location of potential satellite particles have been derived from our identification *** accuracy and efficiency of our algorithm are validated by real-world scanning electron microscope images,outperforming other existing methods and achieving both precision and recall above 99%.

Geological Controls and Prospectivity Mapping for Manganese Ore Deposits Using Predictive Modeling Comparison:An Integration of Outcrop and Remote Sensing Data,Sinai Microplate,Egypt

One of the most controversial minerals in their origin and occurrence around the world is manganese *** Abu Zenima area is rated one of the most economically important places where manganese ore deposits(Mn ODs)are located in the southwest Sinai microplate,*** deposits are confined with the Um Bogma Formation(UBF)and the reserves of this region are relatively *** this study,optical and radar data are used in a new challenge as an attempt to reach the closest controls and setting of Mn ***,Frequency Ratio(FR)and Logistic Regression(LogR)predictive models are applied to integrate different geospatial thematic maps,to predict new potential resource zones for increasing the ranges of mining ***8 OLI,Sentinel-2A Multi Spectral Instrument and Radar(Sentinel-1B)data are combined for mapping Mn ODs locations and their relationship with geological structures and the surrounding *** ratio,Principal and Independent Component Analysis techniques and four classification algorithms were implemented to the optical’VNIR and SWIR ***,the interferometric processing steps for Sentinel-1 data were made for understanding the tectonic features in the *** FR and LogR models are validated during fieldwork with known Mn ODs *** indicate that processed images are capable of differentiation of UBF which broadly distributed in the central and southern parts of the *** ODs possibly formed by thermal events that attributed to paleo-volcanic events before the rift *** high accuracy of LogR model(0.902)suggests that high Mn ODs potential zones are identified within the intersected fault zones near granitic *** integration is recommended for discriminating hydrothermally Mn ODs in other arid geographic regions.

Modeling the spread of spatio-temporal phenomena through the incorporation of ANFIS and genetically controlled cellular automata: a case study on forest fire

Virtual representation and simulation of spatio-temporal phenomena is a promising goal for the production of an advanced digital *** modeling,which is one of the most helpful analyses in the geographic information system(GIS),plays a prominent role in meeting this *** study proposes a new model that considers both aspects of static and dynamic behaviors of spreadable spatio-temporal in cellular automata(CA)***,artificial intelligence tools such as adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS)and genetic algorithm(GA)were used in accordance with the objectives of knowledge discovery and *** conditions in updating states are considered so traditional CA transition rules can be accompanied with the impact of fuzzy discovered knowledge and the solution of spread *** focused on the estimation of forest fire growth as an important case study for decision makers.A two-dimensional cellular representation of the combustion of heterogeneous fuel types and density on non-flat terrain were successfully linked with dynamic wind and slope *** validation of the simulation on experimental data indicated a relatively realistic head-fire *** investigations showed that the results obtained using the dynamic controlling with GA in the absence of static modeling with ANFIS were unacceptable.

Portal hemodynamics as predictors of high risk esophageal varices in cirrhotic patients

AIM： To evaluate portal hypertension parameters in liver cirrhosis patients with and without esophageal varices （EV）. METhODS： A cohort of patients with biopsy confirmed liver cirrhosis was investigated endoscopically and with color Doppler ultrasonography as a possible noninvasive predictive tool. The relationship between portal hemodynamics and the presence and size of EV was evaluated using uni- and multivariate approaches. RESULTS： Eighty five consecutive cirrhotic patients （43 men and 42 women） were enrolled. Mean age （± SD） was 47.5 （± 15.9）. Portal vein diameter （13.88 ± 2.42 vs 12.00 ± 1.69, P 〈 0.0005） and liver vascular index （8.31 ± 2.72 vs 17.8 ± 6.28, P 〈 0.0005） were found to be significantly higher in patients with EV irrespective of size and in patients with large varices （14.54 ± 1.48 vs 13.24 ± 2.55, P 〈 0.05 and 6.45 ± 2.78 v$10.96 ± 5.05, P 〈 0.0005, respectively）, while portal vein flow velocity （13.25 ± 3.66 vs 20.25 ± 5.05, P 〈 0.0005）, congestion index （CI）（0.11 ± 0.03 vs 0.06 ± 0.03, P 〈 0.0005）, portal hypertensive index （2.62 ± 0.79 vs 1.33 ± 0.53, P 〈 0.0005）, and hepatic （0.73 ± 0.07 vs 0.66 ± 0.07, P 〈 0.001） and splenic artery resistance index （R/）（0.73 ± 0.06 vs 0.62 ± 0.08, P 〈 0.0005） were significantly lower. A logistic regression model confirmed spleen size （P = 0.002, AUC 0.72） and portal hypertensive index （P = 0.040, AUC 0.79） as independent predictors for the occurrence of large esophageal varices （LEV）. CONCLUSION： Our data suggest two independent situations for beginning endoscopic evaluation of compensated cirrhotic patients： Portal hypertensive index 〉 2.08 and spleen size 〉 15.05 cm. These factors may help identifying patients with a low probability of LEV who may not need upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.

A Voronoi diagram approach for detecting defects in 3D printed fiber-reinforced polymers from microscope images

Fiber-reinforced polymer(FRP)composites are increasingly popular due to their superior strength to weight *** contrast to significant recent advances in automating the FRP manufacturing process via 3D printing,quality inspection and defect detection remain largely manual and *** this paper,we propose a new approach to automatically detect,from microscope images,one of the major defects in 3D printed FRP parts:fiber-deficient areas(or equivalently,resin-rich areas).From cross-sectional microscope images,we detect the locations and sizes of fibers,construct their Voronoi diagram,and employ-shape theory to determine fiber-deficient *** Voronoi diagram and-shape construction algorithms are specialized to exploit typical characteristics of 3D printed FRP parts,giving significant efficiency *** algorithms robustly handle real-world inputs containing hundreds of thousands of fiber cross-sections,whether in general or non-general position.
