A New Heuristic for the Convex Quadratic Programming Problem

This paper presents a new heuristic to linearise the convex quadratic programming problem. The usual Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions are used but in this case a linear objective function is also formulated from the set of linear equations and complementarity slackness conditions. An unboundedness challenge arises in the proposed formulation and this challenge is alleviated by construction of an additional constraint. The formulated linear programming problem can be solved efficiently by the available simplex or interior point algorithms. There is no restricted base entry in this new formulation. Some computational experiments were carried out and results are provided.

Due to the lack of representation of an object-oriented database on hand-held devices, the present work describes an approach to send the information in the form of an object-oriented database on hand-held devices. A smart phone is selected as a hand-held device and connectivity between the object-oriented databases has been established by the use of the object-oriented programming language C#.Net. For modeling purpose, Unified Modeling Language (UML) is used to specify a UML Class Model and Sequence diagram. A concept of star schema is also used to represent the object-oriented database.

An analysis is made for the steady two-dimensional laminar boundary layer flow of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid near a stagnation point past a shrinking sheet with slip in the presence of a magnetic field. The governing boundary layer equations are transformed to ordinary differential equations by taking suitable similarity variables and solved numerically by Shooting method. The effects of the various parameters such as velocity ratio parameter, slip parameter, Prandtl number, Eckert number and magnetic parameter for velocity and temperature distributions have been discussed in detail through graphical representation.

Trend and climate change were studied in annual rainfall data for the period of 62 years (1949-2010) of Sagar and 65 years (1945-2010) of Damoh districts of Bundelkhand region of central India. The analysis of weekly rainfall probability was also carried out at both the locations for field operations and crop planning in rainfed agricultural system for improving the farmer’s livelihood. Mean annual rainfall was 1233.8 mm with 32.6% variability for Sagar and 1225.1 mm with 30.3% variability for Damoh region. Sagar and Damoh region exhibited significant decreasing trend in the total amount of annual rainfall in the last 15 years (1996 to 2010). Also, both locations showed significant long-term decreasing trend in annual rainfall. Climate of both the regions have changed as in the recent 15 years annual rainfall had decreased by 156.4 and 310.7 mm at Sagar and Damoh from their long period average (LPA), respectively. The Initial and conditional rainfall probability analysis at Damoh reinforced that Initial probabilities {P (W)} of getting 10 mm rainfall per week was 76% during 25th (18-24 June) SMW. Thus, the seed bed preparation could be initiated during this week. Initial as well as conditional probability of wet week followed by wet week {P(W/W} of getting 20 mm rainfall was more than 80% during 27th SMW (2-7 July) in Sagar district. Therefore, this week is most suitable for sowing operation in this district.

The unsteady two-dimensional, laminar flow of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid towards a shrinking surface in the presence of a uniform transverse magnetic field is studied. Taking suitable similarity variables, the governing boundary layer equations are transformed to ordinary differential equations and solved numerically by a perturbation technique for a small magnetic parameter. The effects of various parameters such as unsteadiness parameter, velocity parameter, magnetic parameter, Prandtl number and Eckert number for velocity and temperature distributions along with local Skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt number have been discussed in detail through numerical and graphical representations.

(1-y)(BiFe_(1-x)GdxO_(3))–y(PbZrO3)composites(y=0:5),having four different Gd concentrations(x=0:05,0.1,0.15,and 0.2),were synthesized and their structural,dielectric,and ferroelectric properties have been studied using different characterization *** addition,to investigate the effect of ion implantation on the microstructure and dielectric properties,these composites were exposed to 2 MeV He+-*** of the structure,surface morphology and electrical properties of the samples before and after ion exposure were demonstrated using powder X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)technique,and LCR *** compositional analysis was carried out using energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry(EDS).XRD results demonstrated a decrease in the intensity profile of the dominant peak by a factor of 6 showing a degradation of the ***–Hall(WH)plots reveal reduction in the grain size after irradiation along with an increase in strain and dislocation density.A decrease in the dielectric constant and loss has been recorded after ion beam exposure with reduction in ac conductivity *** contribution of grain and grain boundary effect in conduction mechanism has been addressed using Nyquist *** the samples demonstrate a lossy ferroelectric loop which shows a clear modification upon *** role of structural defects modifying the physical properties of the composite materials is discussed in this work.

Urban growth is a key indicator of economic *** the same time,haphazard urban growth creates serious socioeconomic,environmental and urban land management *** this context,understanding the process of urban landscape change is important for guiding the sustainable growth of urban *** study analyzes the urban land changes during 1990–2018 in two metropolitan cities of Gandaki basin:Pokhara and *** satellite images were analyzed using supervised classification *** results revealed that the built-up area has increased significantly by 300%in Pokhara and by nearly 500%in the Bharatpur during the past 28 *** growth,migration from surrounding areas due to urban facilities and the easy lifestyle in cities were found to be major determinants of urban growth within the study *** addition,the changing urban definition and expansion of municipal boundaries are key factors for rapid urban *** cities are likely to grow in the future as they are both located in areas that encompass the high levels of commercial activity and modern service *** haphazard urban growth should be minimized through planning and policies for sustainable urban development.
