The simultaneous study of demography and behavior might provide a more comprehensive understanding about animal responses to anthropogenic *** White-winged Dove(Zenaida asiatica)is a frequent dweller of urban and agricultural habitats in north America,Central America,and the ***,research on the species is heavily biased to the *** analyzed the response of the species to human disturbances during winter across an urban-agricultural landscape in northwestern Mexico through a demographic and behavioral *** modeled the effect of disturbance types(pedestrians,cars,pavement and building cover)on the density of the ***,we investigated if surveillance behavior varied across the landscape by estimating and comparing perching proportion among land uses(urban grey areas,urban green areas,cropfields,shrublands).We did not detect the species within cropfields,possibly because food resources were not available for the dove during winter in this land *** cover limited species’density,as it might reduce the surface of the preferred feeding substrates of the *** and building cover increased the density of the species,as they might provide food and shelter for the dove,*** behavior peaked in urban grey areas,whereas it dropped in urban green *** on threat levels,threat type,and protective cover among land uses might in-fluence such behavioral *** approach contributes to the knowledge of the species and demonstrates that both demographic and behavioral cues provide complementary evidence for analyzing the impact of human disturbances on animals.

Protein misfolding and aggregation into amyloid fibrils is the main pathological hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases,including Alzheimer’s,Parkinson’s,Huntington’s,and prion diseases(Chiti and Dobson,2017).These insoluble fibrillar deposits possess a common structure characterized by a cross-β-sheet conformation in which β-strands run transversely to the fiber axis and form an intermolecular network of hydrogen bonds.

Dynamic response surface methodology using lasso regression for organic pharmaceutical synthesis

To study the dynamic behavior of a process,time-resolved data are collected at different time instants during each of a series of experiments,which are usually designed with the design of experiments or the design of dynamic experiments *** utilizing such time-resolved data to model the dynamic behavior,dynamic response surface methodology(DRSM),a datadriven modeling method,has been *** approaches can be adopted in the estimation of the model parameters:stepwise regression,used in several of previous publications,and lasso regression,which is newly incorporated in this paper for the estimation of DRSM ***,we show that both approaches yield similarly accurate models,while the computational time of lasso is on average two magnitude *** case studies are performed to show the advantages of the proposed *** the first case study,where the concentrations of different species are modeled directly,DRSM method provides more accurate models compared to the models in the *** second case study,where the reaction extents are modeled instead of the species concentrations,illustrates the versatility of the DRSM ***,DRSM with lasso regression can provide faster and more accurate datadriven models for a variety of organic synthesis datasets.

Background: We currently have international and national guidelines regarding the assessment and monitoring of clinical signs and humane endpoints in animals used in teaching and research, which make the performance of these activities mandatory for any experiment and professional working in this area. Assigning the severity of a research experiment is the result of an analysis of records of observations of the animal’s behavior, and clinical signs. The aim of this study was to describe the importance of carrying out a severity assessment associated with clinical and behavioral monitoring of rodents and rabbits during experimentation to maintain the welfare of these animals undergoing scientific research. Methods: The literature search was carried out using the following terms: “Monitoring”;“Humane endpoints”;“Animal welfare”, “Rodents”;“Rabbits”, and as connectors “and”;“or”, in the following databases: PubMed;lIlACS/BIREME and SciElO. Results: A total of 987 articles were identified in the databases, and 20 of these studies were included in this review. Conclusions: Humane endpoint protocols and procedure severity tables are of the utmost importance, both from an ethical point and to refine the results of research conducted on laboratory animals. They should be drawn up jointly by the teams responsible for the project and the maintenance of the animals during the research period, and the data obtained should be published so that the scientific community can have access to it, helping to disseminate these practices, as well as helping to draw up new procedures. Monitoring and evaluating the welfare and clinical condition of animals undergoing scientific research procedures is the responsibility of the professors, researchers, veterinarians, and animal facility coordinators. Ultrafast laser-driven topological spin textures on a 2D magnet

Ultrafast laser excitations provide an efficient and low-power consumption alternative since different magnetic properties and topological spin states can be triggered and manipulated at the femtosecond(fs)***,it is largely unknown whether laser excitations already used in data information platforms can manipulate the magnetic properties of recently discovered two-dimensional(2D)van der Waals(vdW)*** we show that ultrashort laser pulses(30−85 fs)can not only manipulate magnetic domains of 2D-XY CrCl_(3)ferromagnets,but also induce the formation and control of topological nontrivial meron and antimeron spin *** observed that these spin quasiparticles are created within~100 ps after the excitation displaying rich dynamics through motion,collision and annihilation with emission of spin waves throughout the *** findings highlight substantial opportunities of using photonic driving forces for the exploration of spin textures on 2D magnetic materials towards magneto-optical topological applications.

Exploring spatial relationships between stream channel features,water depths and flow velocities during flash floods using HEC-GeoRAS and Geographic Information Systems

Water depths and flow velocities decisively influence the damage caused by flash *** Information System(GIS)is a powerful and useful tool,allowing the spatial analysis of results obtained by hydraulic modelling,namely from the HEC-RAS/HEC-GeoRAS *** GIS spatial analysis performed in this study seeks to explain and quantify the spatial relationships between the stream channel features and flow components during flash flood *** these relationships are generically known,there are few studies exploring this subject in different geographic contexts.A 1D hydraulic model was applied in a small watershed in Portugal,providing good results in the definition of floodable areas,water depths and longitudinal *** direct relationship was found between water depths and velocities in the floodable areas;however,negative strong correlations were found between the two flow components along the stream *** slope,channel and flood width,and roughness prove to be highly relevant on the longitudinal variations of water depths and velocities and on the location of maximum *** peak discharges and return periods(R;)can change the relationships between water depths and velocities at the same *** can be improved with more accurate elevation data for stream channels and floodplains.

Carbon capture for decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries:a comparative review of techno-economic feasibility of solid looping cycles

Carbon capture and storage will play a crucial role in industrial ***,the current literature presents a large variability in the techno-economic feasibility of CO_(2)capture ***,reliable pathways for carbon capture deployment in energyintensive industries are still *** work provides a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art CO_(2)capture technologies for decarbonisation of the iron and steel,cement,petroleum refining,and pulp and paper *** scrubbing was shown to be the least feasible option,resulting in the average avoided CO_(2)cost of between 62.7∈t_(CO_(2))^(-1)for the pulp and paper and 104.6∈t_(CO_(2))^(-1)for the iron and steel *** average equivalent energy requirement varied between 2.7(iron and steel)and 5.1MJ_(th)·kg_(CO_(2))^(-1)(cement).Retrofits of emerging calcium looping were shown to improve the overall viability of CO_(2)capture for industrial *** looping was shown to result in the average avoided CO_(2)cost of between 32.7(iron and steel)and 42.9(cement).Its average equivalent energy requirement varied between 2.0(iron and steel)and 3.7(pulp and paper).Such performance demonstrated the superiority of calcium looping for industrial *** work should focus on standardising the techno-economic assessment of technologies for industrial decarbonisation.

21世纪以来,随着桑托斯盆地深水盐下获得一系列重大油气发现,巴西东部海域成为全球深水油气勘探与生产的热点区域。通过全面回顾巴西油气勘探开发历程,系统阐述了从陆上到海域、从浅水到深水—超深水直至盐下勘探的探索实践、战略转变、重大突破和关键理论技术。巴西国家石油公司(简称巴西国油)自1953年成立以后的15年间,在陆上古生界克拉通盆地和断陷盆地进行了勘探,并于断块和三角洲砂体圈闭获得了一些中小型油气发现。20世纪70年代,应用重力流沉积模式和高质量三维地震等勘探新技术,在坎波斯盆地浅水中发现namorado和Enchova等油田,随后深水盐上勘探获得突破,成功发现Marlim、Roncador等大型油田。21世纪初,通过盐下含油气系统、碳酸盐岩成储成藏模式和核磁共振测井等理论技术攻关,推动桑托斯盆地下白垩统湖相碳酸盐岩陆续获得Tupi(lula)、Buzios、Mero等世界级超深水盐下大油田的系列重大发现。在复杂的深水作业环境下,油气开发工程面临巨大挑战,巴西国油通过启动深水研发计划(PROCAP),开发并实施窄压力窗口控压钻井、加压钻井液帽钻井、多段智能完井、水下采油及浮式生产平台开发和流动保障等关键技术,显著提升了钻完井、油气田开发和输运的效率及安全性。此外,在浮式采储卸油系统建产规模受限的情况下,推进全球最大规模的CO_(2)捕集、驱油利用与埋存工程(CCUS-EOR),有效减少温室气体排放并提高了原油采收率。上述理论技术的发展和应用,也为全球深水油气勘探开发提供了宝贵经验。未来巴西油气勘探将继续聚焦深水盐下碳酸盐岩和盐上浊积岩,并在古生界天然气等勘探领域持续寻求新的发现,同时通过技术创新和战略合作,促进巴西石油天然气行业的可持续发展。

Characteristics of lightning‐induced voltages based on experimental data

This paper presents an analysis of 64 lightning‐induced voltage waveforms recorded in an experimental system implemented in the campus of the University of São Paulo,*** voltages were measured on a 10 m high,2.7 km long un‐energized overhead line consisting of two conductors installed on 6 m *** of the conductors had surge arresters,while the other one was left *** speaking,all the recorded voltages on the unprotected conductor were bipolar,but in many cases only one semi‐cycle could be considered important for practical *** criteria are discussed for the determination of the waveshape parameters,which may differ signifi-cantly from those of the standard lightning impulse voltage(1.2/50μs).Based on the proposed criterion for classifying the induced voltages,unipolar waveforms accounted for 67%of the total and,except for one case,all of them had positive *** median values of the front time and time‐to‐half‐value were,respectively,5.2μs and 15.8μ*** waveforms were 33%of the total and in approximately 62%of the cases the first semi‐cycle was of positive *** 91%of the cases the voltage peak occurred either in the first or the second semi‐cycle.
