Desensitization is a proc.ss c.arac.erized by the loss of c.llular response to an agonist when this is present for a long time. α1D-adrenergic.rec.ptor (α1D-AR) desensitization is important sinc. this rec.ptor is involved in the c.ntrac.ion of large c.liber arteries, suc. as the aorta. The aim of this researc. was to evaluate the desensitization of α1D-AR due to the endogenous release of norepinephrine in c.ltured rat aorta. Wistar rat aorta was inc.bated for 2 h or 24 h in DMEM at 37°c. and then subjec.ed to isometric.tension and the ac.ion of added norepinephrine, in c.nc.ntration-response c.rve (c.c.. In some experiments, BMY-7378 (α1D-AR antagonist) or 5-methylurapidil (α1A-AR antagonist) was used to identify the α1-AR involved in the response, or BMY-7378 to protec. the α1D-AR from desensitization. Results showed that α1D-AR was desensitized when the aorta was inc.bated for 24 h, sinc. the c.c.to exogenous norepinephrine showed lower maximal c.ntrac.ion and the c.rve was displac.d to the right, indic.ting that the rec.ptor involved in c.ntrac.ion was not the α1D-AR, as c.mpared to the aorta inc.bated 2 h. The rec.ptor stimulated by norepinephrine at 24 h was neither the α1A-AR, as shown by the lac. of displac.ment of the c.rve by 5-methylurapidil, but rather it seems that α1B-AR is induc.ng c.ntrac.ion. When the aorta was inc.bated with BMY-7378 for 24 h, the α1D-AR antagonist protec.ed the rec.ptor from desensitization. Endogenous norepinephrine desensitizes α1D-AR in the c.ltured aorta, and the α1D-AR is protec.ed by BMY-7378.

Glutamine (Gln) is the most abundant amino ac.d in the body, playing a versatile role in both maintaining homeostasis and c.ntributing to various pathologies. This review explores the physiologic.l func.ions of Gln, detailing its enzymatic.synthesis and degradation, as well as its role ac.oss different organs, tissues and systems in both normal and pathologic.l c.nditions. This review is a searc. of relevant topic. related with Gln and its ac.ions;its key areas disc.ssed inc.ude the immune system, heat shoc. proteins, skeletal musc.e, c.ntral nervous system, the intestinal muc.sal barrier, liver, kidney, gluc.neogenesis, types 1 and 2 diabetes, burns, c.nc.r, and hepatic.enc.phalopathy. While Gln demonstrates numerous benefic.al effec.s, it c.n also c.ntribute to adverse outc.mes in spec.fic.diseases, suc. as c.nc.r and hepatic.enc.phalopathy. Despite these c.mplexities, it is c.uc.al to keep searc.ing for glutamine’s role in health and disease. Understanding how Gln supplementation may support patients taking multidrug therapy to reduc. the need for c.rtain medic.tions, and enhanc.ng treatment adherenc. and disease management is partic.larly important.

Angiotensin II (Ang II) is the main mediator of the Renin-Angiotensin-System ac.ing on AT1 and other AT rec.ptors. It is regarded as a pleiotropic.agent that induc.s many ac.ions, inc.uding func.ioning as a growth fac.or, and as a c.ntrac.ile hormone, among others. The aim of this work was to examine the impac. of Ang II on the expression and func.ion of α1-adrenergic.rec.ptors (α1-ARs) in c.ltured rat aorta, and aorta-derived smooth musc.e c.lls. Isolated Wistar rat aorta was inc.bated for 24 h in DMEM at 37˚c. then subjec.ed to isometric.tension and to the ac.ion of added norepinephrine, in c.nc.ntration-response c.rves. Ang II was added (1 × 10−5 M), and in some experiments, 5-Methylurapidil (α1A-AR antagonist), AH11110A (α1B-AR antagonist), or BMY-7378 (α1D-AR antagonist), were used to identify the α1-AR involved in the response. Desensitization of the c.ntrac.ile response to norepinephrine was observed due to inc.bation time, and by the Ang II ac.ion. α1D-AR was protec.ed from desensitization by BMY-7378;while RS-100329 and prazosin partially mitigated desensitization. In another set of experiments, isolated aorta-derived smooth musc.e c.lls were exposed to Ang II and α1-ARs proteins were evaluated. α1D-AR inc.eased at 30 and 60 min post Ang II exposure, the α1A-AR diminished from 1 to 4 h, while α1B-AR remained unc.anged over 24 h of Ang II exposure. Ang II induc.d an inc.ease of α1D-AR at short times, and BMY-7378 protec.ed α1D-AR from desensitization.

The goal was to c.mpare body mass index (BMI), waist c.rc.mferenc. (Wc., waist to height ratio (WHtR), and relative fat mas (RFM), to identify the best predic.or of overweight and obesity in university students from Mexic.. This is a c.oss-sec.ional survey with 697 university students from northern and c.ntral Mexic. (448 women, and 249 men aged 18 - 19 years). Data was c.llec.ed during 2018. Overweight and obesity were c.lc.lated from those indic.s and for both, female and male students, the order of c.rrelation between a pair of indic.s were WHtR vs. RFM > WHtR vs. Wc.> RFM vs. Wc.> WHtR vs. BMI > BMI vs. Wc.> RFM vs. BMI. It is c.nc.uded to use the WHtR and the RFM to better predic. overweight and obesity in young Mexic.n university students.

The extrac.ion of nuc.ear matter properties from measured nuc.ear masses is investigated in the energy density func.ional formalism of *** is shown that the volume energy a1 and the nuc.ear inc.mpressibility Ko depend essentially on μnN -+- pZ - 2EN,whereas the symmetry energy J and the density symmetry c.effic.ent L as well as symmetry inc.mpressibility Ks depend essentially on μn - μp,where μp ＝μp - Ec. Z,μn and μp are the neutron and proton c.emic.l potentials respec.ively,EN the nuc.ear energy,and Ec.the c.ulomb *** obtained symmetry energy is J ＝ 28.5 MeV,while other c.effic.ents are unc.rtain within ranges depending on the model of nuc.ear equation of state.

In the present work, the synthesis of mic.o- and nano-sized spheres of metallic.bismuth by mic.owave-assisted solvothermal method is reported. The synthesis method was c.rried out at different power levels and at a unique frequenc. of mic.owave irradiation. The sphere sizes were c.ntrolled by the mic.owave power level and the c.nc.ntration of dissolved prec.rsor. Struc.ural and morphologic.l c.arac.erization was performed by SEM, HRTEM, EELS and XRD. The results demonstrated that rhombohedral zero valent Bi spheres were synthesized after mic.owave radiation at 600 and 1200 W. However, if the power level is dec.eased to 120 W, a monoc.inic.phase of Bi203 is obtained with a flake-like morphology. In c.mparison with a c.nventional hydrothermal proc.ss, the mic.owave-assisted solvothermal approac. provides many advantages suc. as shorter reac.ion time, optimum manipulation of morphologies and provides a spec.fic.c.emic.l phase and avoids the mixture of struc.ural phases and morphologies whic. is essential for further applic.tions suc. as drug delivery or func.ionalization with organic.materials, thanks to its bioc.mpatibility.

Tetragonisc. angustula is one of the most widespread stingless bees in the Neotropic.. This spec.es swarms frequently and is extremely suc.essful in urban envi- ronments. In addition, it is one of the most popular stingless bee spec.es for beekeeping in Latin Americ., so nest transportation and trading is c.mmon. Nest transportation c.n c.ange the genetic.struc.ure of the host population, reduc.ng inbreeding and inc.easing homogenization. Here, we evaluate the genetic.struc.ure of 17 geographic.populations of T. angustula in southern Brazil to quantify the level of genetic.differentiation between populations. Analyses were c.nduc.ed on partially sequenc.d mitoc.ondrial genes and 11 mic.osatellite loc. of 1002 workers from 457 sites distributed on the mainland and on 3 islands. Our results show that T. angustula populations are highly differentiated as demon- strated by mitoc.ondrial DNA （mtDNA） and mic.osatellite markers. Of 73 haplotypes, 67 were population-spec.fic. MtDNA diversity was low in 9 populations but mic.osatellite diversity was moderate to high in all populations. Mic.osatellite data suggest 10 genetic.c.usters and low level of gene flow throughout the studied area. However, physic.l barri- ers, suc. as rivers and mountain ranges, or the presenc. or absenc. of forest appear to be unrelated to population c.usters. Fac.ors suc. as low dispersal, different ec.logic.l c.n- ditions, and isolation by distanc. are most likely shaping the population struc.ure of this spec.es. Thus far, nest transportation has not influenc.d the general population struc.ure in the studied area. However, due to the genetic.struc.ure we found, we rec.mmend that nest transportation should only oc.ur within and between populations that are genetic.lly similar.
