Introduction: In sub-Saharan Africa and Mali, young women who have had heart surgery want to become pregnant. The occurrence of pregnancy in these women who have had heart surgery is becoming more and more frequent in our country because of the persistence of acute rheumatoid arthritis (RAA) and especially the increasingly easy access to heart surgery. General Objective: To study the evolution of pregnancy and the prognosis of childbirth in women who have undergone heart surgery. Methodology: This was a retrospective and descriptive study that took place over a period of five (5) years in the gynecology-obstetrics department of University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Gabriel Touré and the cardiology department of UTH Luxembourg. Was included in the study any pregnant woman admitted to the gynecology-obstetrics department of UTH Gabriel Touré and having a history of heart surgery. The variables studied were the socio-demographic characteristics, the type of heart disease, the management, the evolution of the pregnancy and the prognosis. Introduction: Evacuation refers to the rapid transfer of a patient in an emergency, from one health center to another more equipped and better specialized. The objective of this study was to study maternal mortality in patients evacuated to the gynecology and obstetrics department at the Fousseyni Daou Hospital in Kayes over a period of 10 years. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective study over nine years from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2019 and prospective over one year from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 involving all patients or parturients evacuated for obstetrical causes and died in the gynecology-obstetrics department of the Fousseyni Daou Hospital. Confidentiality and anonymity were respected. The processing and analysis of the statistical data was carried out using SPSS 20.0 software. Results: during our study period we identified 38,854 obstetric admissions including 6758 evacuations or 17.4%, among the 6758 cases of obstetric evacuations 284 died, a frequency of 4.2%. The maternal death audit committee of the Fousseyni Daou hospital in Kayes audited 101/284 cases (files) or 35.5% of which 64 maternal deaths (63.4%) were considered inevitable. In our study the 20 - 29 age group was more represented with 38%. 85% of the deceased patients lived in rural areas. In our series, 63.7% of the deceased patients had not had antenatal consultations (NPC). Eclampsia accounted for 26.8% of admissions diagnoses and 30.9% of causes of death. Seventy-two (72%) of deaths occurred postpartum, 15% perpartum and 13% prepartum. Direct obstetric causes were predominant at 65.1%. Conclusion: Indicators of maternal deaths among evacuated patients remain poor in our work. Maternal deaths were driven by socio-economic and cultural factors, but also by factors related to the health system.

Introduction: The level of schooling of mothers is a determining factor in the follow-up of pregnancy and consequently the prognosis of childbirth and the quality of the newborn. Objective: The aim was to assess the impact of the level of education on the follow-up of their pregnancy and perinatal prognosis at the Reference Health Centre of Commune V of the District of Bamako. Materials and Methods: This was a prospective, cross-sectional and analytical study aimed descriptive from August 15 to December 15, 2021. We included in this study all pregnant women who had a gestational age of at least 22 weeks of amenorrhea and who gave birth or were received in the immediate postpartum period at the maternity ward of the Reference Health Center of Commune V. Results: Out-of-school parturients accounted for 60% of cases. Among the parturients in school, 18% had a higher level. In our study, 14.3% of women in labour knew the date of the last menstrual period. In our series, 100% of mothers in higher and secondary school had completed an antenatal consultation (CPN) compared to 90.7% in the out-of-school mothers. CPN1 was performed in the first trimester of pregnancy in 21.1% among out-of-school parturients compared to 83.5% among higher-level parturients. The number of NPCs was greater than or equal to 4 in 47.9% of parturients. Conclusion: Women’s schooling has an impact on their socio-economic conditions on the one hand and on the monitoring and prognosis of pregnancies on the other.

Introduction: The World Health Organization estimates that each year more than 20 million women suffer from the after-effects of unattended childbirth, of which 800 women die every day as a result of obstetric complications. Objective: Study the socio-epidemiological aspects and prognosis of unassisted deliveries arriving at the Fousseyni Daou De Kayes hospital. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional study with prospective collection, case-control that took place at the maternity ward of the Fousseyni Daou hospital in Kayes, from 1 January to 31 December 2021. Results: The frequency of unattended birth was 4.1%. The 30 - 35 age group was the most represented with 32.5%. In our study 58.1% of cases were out of school, 19.4% were primigestes and 39.4% were multiparous. In our series 60.6% of cases had given birth at home and 39.4% along the way. The majority of cases regretted having given birth without the assistance of qualified personnel in 45.6%. Maternal complications were dominated by perineal lesions in 14.4% of cases, haemorrhage of delivery in 25% of cases, severe anaemia in 30% of cases;16.7% of newborns were in poor condition, 13.6% were fresh stillbirths, 15.6% of newborns had obstetric trauma. The maternal death rate on arrival was 3%. Conclusion: The frequency of unassisted childbirth is high in the Kayes region. Its complications can be serious for both the mother and the newborn.

Introduction: High grade dysplasia of the cervix has a high incidence and can progress to cervical cancer. The aim was to study cofactors associated with high-grade cervical dysplasia. Methodology: This was a retrospective case-control study without matching. Women with high grade dysplasia were the cases while those with a normal screening test represented the controls. The study took place at the Gabriel Touré University Hospital Center in Bamako. We included 351 cases and 420 controls. The capture and analysis were performed using the SPSS 20 software. A univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed for the analysis of risk cofactors. The statistical tests used were the odds ratio and its confidence interval and the statistical significance threshold was set at p Results: In univariate analysis, the co-factors statistically significantly associated with the occurrence of high-grade dysplasia were parity 0.6 (0.5 - 0.9), gestational 0.7 (0.5 - 0.9), smoking of the spouse 3.4 (1.1 - 11.3), the non-schooling 1.4 (1.2 - 2.1). In multivariate analysis after adjusting for confounding factors, two co-factors have significantly increased the risk of high-grade dysplasia: lack of schooling 1.4 (1.2 - 2.0) and polygamy 1.5 (1.4 - 2.5). Conclusion: At the end of this study, polygamy and lack of schooling were the main risk factors. The prevention of cervical cancer will go through the education of girls and women as well as communication for behavioral change and social change.

This study on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) was carried out in two secondary schools in the Bamako district, “Chaine Grise” and “Cheick Modibo Diarra” located respectively on the right bank and the left bank depending on the geographic position of the Niger river. This work took place over a period of 6 months from January 2019 to June 2019. The objective of this study was to study menstrual hygiene management in school?setting for girls aged 16 to 18 in two secondary schools in Bamako. It was a transversal and qualitative description. The study population consists of girls aged 16 to 18 years enrolled in one of the selected secondary schools.?At the end of this study, we arrived at the following results:?*50% of the girls in our study have poor knowledge about menstruation;?*10% of girls miss school at least one day a month during menstruation;?*90% of girls use hygienic cotton to absorb menstrual blood;?*90% of the sources of supply for hygienic products are?mothers.?The unsanitary conditions of the toilets, lack of light and the non-separation of the toilets according to gender guidelines were found in 99% of the cases: *99% of girls say that the poor state of health infrastructures was one of the causes of genital infections linked to poor management of menstrual hygiene;?*lack of water in the toilets (99%). Through these results, we conclude that,?in our context,?menstruation remains a taboo and shameful subject for girls. In addition, some of their menstrual hygiene practices are a real danger to their health.

Every woman has the right to receive satisfactory quality prenatal care in reproductive health. Giving a life while remaining alive and without sequelae must be the slogan of any gynecologist - obstetrician and midwife, as well as any health worker. It was a descriptive cross-sectional study dealing with the evaluation of the quality of prenatal consultations at the Kadiolo referral health center (or RHC). Adevis Donabedian’s model for assessing the quality of care and services served as a benchmark. According to Donabedian quality means good technical care, with good interpersonal relationships, and adequate and comfortable premises. This study took place from April 24 to December 04, 2017 and aimed to assess the current level of the quality of prenatal consultations at the Kadiolo referral health center, to study the structures in place including infrastructure and personnel, to specify the procedures and to determine their results. This work has permitted us to classify the RHC of Kadiolo at level III with 85%, which means that the references evaluated were satisfactory, with the level of 75% to 94%. In terms of structure, a pricing system was deemed affordable by the opinion of pregnant women. The analysis of the level of the human dimension revealed that the health center was level III. The pregnant women were satisfied with the reception which was good in 76% of the cases, as well as with the quality of the respect of the privacy in 96% and confidentiality in 95%. Despite the satisfaction of pregnant women, gaps remain to be filled in concerning the quality of the services received at the Kadiolo referral health center so as to reach level IV.

This is a prospective and descriptive study carried out at the gynecology and obstetrics department of the reference health center of Fana from 01 May 2019 to 30 November or 7 months. The main objective was to study the role of blood transfusion in the management of obstetric emergencies. During the study period we recorded 434 cases of obstetric emergencies of which 116 cases required an emergency blood transfusion or 26.73%. The most frequently found indications for blood transfusion are hemorrhages of the immediate postpartum 46.6% followed by severe malaria on pregnancy 27.6%. Blood remains the most prescribed and available Labile blood product in the department. Maternal prognosis was improved in 92.2%.

It was a 36-year-old patient, 5th Pregnancy, 5th Delivery, 4 live children, and I deceased, had a consultation in the department for the removal of implants. Questioning revealed that she had had the implant three years ago without medical follow-up. It was in view of the difficulties in extracting the capsule that the chest X-ray and CT scan carried out concluded that the implant had migrated into a branch of the left pulmonary artery. Therapeutic abstention has been the attitude of cardiovascular surgeons.

Aim: To analyze the practice of skin grafting in the surgery department “B” of the CHU of Point “G” in Bamako. Patients and Methods: This was a retrospective and prospective study carried out between 1980 and 2014, covering all patients who underwent a skin graft and hospitalized. It covered all patients who underwent a skin transplant and were hospitalized in the department during the study period. Result: There were 50 patients including 25 women and 25 men. The mean age was 25.2 ± 19 years. The average duration of lesion evolution was 1 year. The lesions to be grafted were located in the lower limbs in 60%. The average area of substance loss was 13.2 cm2. The indication for skin graft was asked for loss of substance following scar bridles in 40%, ulcerative-necrotic wounds of infectious or traumatic origin (32%), malignant skin tumor (14%). In pathology, there were 5 cases of malignant melanoma and 2 cases of squamous cell carcinoma. Thin skin grafting was the most used technique (62%). The postoperative follow-ups were simple in 94%. There were 3 cases of graft necrosis. The average length of hospital stay was 28 days. The esthetic result was judged satisfactory in 84% of the cases (n = 42), average in 14% of the cases (n = 7) and unsatisfactory in 2% of the cases (n = 1). The sensitivity was good in 36 patients (72%), average in 12 patients (24%) and poor in 2 patients (4%). Conclusion: They mainly affect young people. The reduction of accidents on the public highway, good management of burn injuries, wounds and good hygiene of the population will considerably reduce the rate of its affections.
