Assessment of geodetic strain and stress variations in Nepal due to 25 April 2015 Gorkha earthquake:Insights from the GNSS data analysis and b-value

A magnitude M;7.8 earthquake occurred on 25 April 2015(referred as Gorkha earthquake).We have analyzed the spatial variation of b-value and two-dimensional strain within Nepal Himalaya before and after the Gorkha *** have used continuous Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)data from 30 stations in the Nepal region for geodetic strain estimation and earthquake data for b-value *** GNSS data were processed using double differencing technique for the accurate position of each *** precise velocity vectors show a general azimuth of north east for all the stations and have been used to derive two-dimensional *** epicenters of Gorkha(25 April 2015)and Dolakha earthquakes(12 May 2015),we observed high co-seismic horizontal displacements(0.2 m to 2 m).In the Pre-seismic deformation study,maximum strain accumulation(56.40×10;)and low bvalue(0.79-0.89)was observed in and around the Western Nepal region,which may be responsible for the 2015 Gorkha *** potential seismic zones were identified by GIS based integration of geodetic strain and b-value map and superimposition using weighted overlay *** Maximum strain and low b-value are now observed in the eastern part of ***,the spatial disposition of elastic energy has changed after the two major earthquakes and continuous seismic hazard assessment is required in the eastern Nepal.

In recent years,iron(Fe)based degradable metal is explored as an alternative to permanent fracture fixation *** the present work,copper(Cu)is added in Fe-Mn system to enhance the degradation rate and antimicrobial ***-Mn-x Cu(x=0.9,5 and 10 wt.%)alloys are prepared by the meltingcasting-forging *** analysis confirms austenite phase stabilization due to the presence of Mn and *** predicted by Thermo-Calc calculations,Cu rich phase precipitations are noticed along the austenite grain *** behaviours of Cu added Fe-Mn alloys are investigated through static immersion and electrochemical polarization where enhanced degradation is found for higher Cu added *** challenged against *** bacteria,the Fe-Mn-Cu alloy media extract shows a significant bactericidal effect compare to the base *** vitro cytocompatibility studies,as determined using MG63 and MC3T3-E1 cell lines,indicate increased cell density as a function of time for all the *** implanted in rabbit femur,the newly developed alloy does not show any kind of tissue necrosis around the *** osteogenesis and higher new bone formation are observed with Fe-Mn-10 Cu alloy as evident from micro-computed tomography(μ-CT)and fluorochrome labelling.

1-way multihead quantum finite state automata (1QFA(k)) can be thought of modified version of 1-way quantum finite state automata (1QFA) and k-letter quantum finite state automata (k-letter QFA) respectively. It has been shown by Moore and Crutchfield as well as Konadacs and Watrous that 1QFA can’t accept all regular language. In this paper, we show different language recognizing capabilities of our model 1-way multihead QFAs. New results presented in this paper are the following ones: 1) We show that newly introduced 1-way 2-head quantum finite state automaton (1QFA(2)) structure can accept all unary regular languages. 2) A language which can’t be accepted by 1-way deterministic 2-head finite state automaton (1DFA((2)) can be accepted by 1QFA(2) with bounded error. 3) 1QFA(2) is more powerful than 1-way reversible 2-head finite state automaton (1RMFA(2)) with respect to recognition of language.

Objective:To evaluate the acute toxicity of carboxymethyl chitosan-2,2' ethylenedioxy bisethylamine-folate(CMC-EDBE-FA) and as well as possible effect on microbial growth and in vitro cell ***:CMC-EDBE-FA was prepared on basis of carboxymethyl chitosan tagged with folic acid by covalently linkage through 2,2' elhylenedioxy bis-ethylamine. In vivo acute toxicity,in vitro cyto-toxicity and antimicrobial activity of CMC-EDBE-FA nanoparticle were ***:Vancomycin exhibited the antibacterial activity against vancomycin sensitive Staphylococcus aureus,but CMC-EDBE-FA nanoparticle did not give any antibacterial activity as evidenced by minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC),minimal bactericidal concentration(MBC),disc agar diffusion(DAD) and killing kinetic ***,the CMC-EDBE-FA nanoparticle showed no signs of in vivo acute toxicity up to a dose level of 1000 mg/kg p.o.,and as well as in vitro cyto-toxicity up to 230 μg/***:These findings suggest that CMC-EDBE-FA nanoparticle is expected to be safe for biomedical applications.

A Study on the Volatility of the Bangladesh Stock Market--Based on GARCH Type Models

The generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity(GARCH) type models are used to investigate the volatility of Bangladesh stock market. The findings of the study demonstrate that the index volatility characteristics changes over time. The article shows that the data are divided into three sub-periods: pre crisis, crisis, and post crisis. Accordingly, the results of the findings indicate changes in the GARCH-type models parameter, risk premium and persistence of volatility in different periods. A significant "low-yield associated with high-risk" phenomenon is detected in the crisis period and the "leverage effect" occurs in each periods. The investors are irrational which is based on assumption of risk and return characteristics of assets. Consequently, the market is not as mature as developed market. It is found in the article that the threshold generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity(TGARCH) model is more accurate for the model accuracy. Additionally, statistic error measurements indicate that GARCH model is more efficient than others and it has also more forecasting ability.

A green chemical conversion coating for magnesium was obtained with a phytic acid solution. The microstructure and corrosion properties of phytic acid conversion coated magnesium were further improved by soaking in stearic acid solution. The phytic acid conversion coated magnesium after soaking in the stearic acid showed no micro-cracks and the surface became very smooth. The corrosion behavior of the uncoated and coated magnesium samples was studied by electrochemical methods. The corrosion resistance of the stearic acid treated sample was much higher than that of phytic acid conversion coated magnesium or uncoated magnesium. The electrochemical results indicated that the stearic acid treated coating provided effective corrosion protection to the magnesium sample.
