The objective of the present investigation was to formulate nanoparticles constructed using PLGA polymer for the effective targeted delivery to brain via nasal route. The PLGA nanoparticles were optimized using novel design of experiment technique by 23 full factorial design. Drug: polymer ratio（X1）, surfactant concentration（X2） and stirring speed（X3） were identified as critical process parameters, and its impact on particle size（Y1） and % entrapment efficiency（Y2） was studied. The optimized nanoparticle formulation was conjugated with glutathione as an endogenous ligand by using carbodiimide chemistry using(1-Ethyl-3-（3-dimethylaminopropyl）carbodiimide)（EDAC） as linker molecule. From Ellman's assay,it was found that a total of 691.27 ± 151 units of glutathione were conjugated upon each PLGA nanoparticle. The in vitro release studies as well as ex vivo studies revealed biphasic pattern of drug release with initial burst release followed by slow exponential release of drug over a period of 24 h. The in vivo biodistribution studies were conducted on rat following nasal administration of the nanoparticle formulation（conjugated and unconjugated）and were compared with plain paclitaxel suspension. The results clearly demonstrated that the brain targeting efficiency was enhanced with the glutathione conjugated formulation（387.474%） as compared to the unconjugated nanoparticle formulation（224.327%）. Further,the in vitro in vivo correlation studies revealed good relationship（R2> 0.95） as obtained from the levy plot. Glutathione proves to be an efficient vector for the successful transport of poor bioavailable drug to the brain.

Solar and wind are the most promising renewable energy resources. But their unpredictable and varying nature prevents them from being used as the sole resource for power generation. This paper presents a model of wind and solar thermal hybrid power plant with a spring storage system which is expected to play an efficient role in combating with the drawbacks related to renewable power generation. In the proposed scheme, wind energy is harnessed by a hybrid vertical axis wind turbine, solar energy is utilized by a Stifling engine, and the surplus energy is stored in a winding spring. The paper discusses the working methodologies and analyses the performance of such 2.6 kW hybrid power plant model. It has been observed that the plant is capable of consistently generating 50% of its rated capacity irrespective of limitations in solar and wind resources.

With the likely future of autonomous vehicles(AVs)as private,ride-hailing,and pooled vehicles,it is important to consider all forms of AVs when estimating the impacts of automation on travel *** aid this,this study jointly models the public interest in three forms of AVs(owning,ride-hailing,and using pooled services)and compares the interests in owning versus ride-hailing AVs using a combination of structural equation modeling and multivariate ordered probit modeling *** the 2019 California Vehicle Survey data,we estimate the impacts of several exogenous and latent variables on all forms of AV *** find that the individual,household,travel-related,and built-environment factors are related to different forms of AV adoption directly and indirectly through attitudes toward human and automated *** also report that human and automated driving sentiments have the highest impact on interest in owning an AV compared to interest in ride-hailing and using pooled *** discuss several policy implications by calculating the pseudo-elasticity effects of exogenous variables and the sensitivities of the impacts on latent variables on different forms of AV *** example,public interest in owning private AVs can be increased by more than 7%by making them familiar with autonomous technology.

From Dislocation Motion to an Additive Velocity Gradient Decomposition, and Some Simple Models of Dislocation Dynamics

A mathematical theory of time-dependent dislocation mechanics of unrestricted geometric and material nonlinearity is reviewed. Within a "small deformation" setting, a suite of simplified and interesting models consisting of a nonlocal Ginzburg Landau equation, a nonlocal level set equation, and a nonlocal generalized Burgers equation is *** the finite deformation setting, it is shown that an additive decomposition of the total velocity gradient into elastic and plastic parts emerges naturally from a micromechanical starting point that involves no notion of plastic deformation but only the elastic distortion,material velocity, dislocation density and the dislocation velocity. Moreover, a plastic spin tensor emerges naturally as well.

Chloroacetamide herbicides,namely acetochlor and metolachlor,are common herbicides used on corn and soybean *** safeners,namely benoxacor and furilazole,are commonly used in formulations containing chloroacetamide *** reports on adsorption of chloroacetamide herbicides are available,yet little information exists regarding adsorption potential of co-applied ***,the adsorption and desorption characteristics of selected herbicide safeners to granular activated carbon(GAC) and in agricultural soils are ***,soil column studies were performed to understand the leaching behaviour of the herbicide Dual II *** sorption experiments of safeners to three agricultural soils and one GAC showed that adsorption was best fitted by the Freundlich *** Freundlich adsorption constant,Kf,for benoxacor and furilazole sorption onto three agricultural soils ranged from0.1 to 0.27 and 0.1 to 0.13(mg/g) x(mg/L)(1/n),*** Kf for benoxacor and furilazole to GAC was 6.4 and 3.4(mg/g) x(mg/L)(1/n),respectively,suggesting more favorable sorption of benoxacor to GAC than furilazole to *** sorption to soils was reversible as almost 40%-90% of both safeners was desorbed from three *** results were validated in four replicated soil column studies,where S-metolachlor was shown to leach similarly to the safener benoxacor,originating from the herbicide *** leaching of S-metolachlor and benoxacor was influenced by soil ***,these results show that safeners will move through the environment to surface waters similarly to the active ingredients in herbicides,but may be removed during drinking water treatment via GAC.

In the petrochemical industry,separation of oil from water is a very important *** produce mixtures of gas,oil,and water which undergo a primary stage of separation inside horizontal gravity *** performance of these vessels is evaluated by measuring mean residence time(MRT)and residence time distribution(RTD).Although many researchers studied flow characteristics in horizontal separators,limited number of articles exist that discuss separator MRT and RTD with varying *** this article,the authors study an experiment using a horizontal gravity separator by previous researchers and perform computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations on the same geometry under similar *** simulation results show qualitative agreement with the experiments by previous *** shown by experiments before,CFD results showed that MRT of the organic phase increased with increase in *** addition,the RTD characteristics show very similar trends between CFD and experimental results.

Purpose–WIth limited research on the effects of variable message sign(VMS)message content and verbiage on revealed driver behavior,this study aims to investigate how different verbiage of crash-related messages are related to the diversion ***/methodology/approach–Using ordered logit models,the associations of message verbiage with diversion rates during crash incidents were assessed using five years of VMS message history within a section of I-15 in the state of ***–A significant impact of message verbiage on the diversion rate was *** on the analysis results,the crash message verbiage with the highest diversion was found to be miles to crash 1“prepare to stop,”followed by crash location 1 delay information,miles to crash 1“use caution”1 lane of the crash,*** addition,the diversion rate was found to be correlated to some roadway characteristics(*** in mainline,weather condition and light condition)along with the temporal *** limitations/implications–These findings could be used by transportation agencies(*** department of transportation[DOTs])to make informed decisions about choosing the message verbiage during future crash *** study also revealed that higher diversion rates are associated with a shorter distance between the crash location and VMS device location,recommending increasing the number of VMS devices,particularly in crash-prone areas.

With the known evidence that potential connected vehicle(CV)users are worried about sharing data because of the associated data privacy and security issues,this study investigates the importance of the reputation of the data manager(who collects,stores,and owns the data)of CV technology(CVT).Based on a questionnaire survey of 2400 US adults,this study asserts that the data manager's reputation has a significant impact on the public perception of data privacy and security issues in CVT along with overall CV *** results show that data privacy issues have a more negative impact on CV acceptance than data security *** addition,the reputation of a data manager has a bigger role in the eyes of the public in shaping their perception of data privacy in comparison to data *** on the results,the public considers data privacy as the responsibility of the data manager to protect their data from unauthorized/illegal third-party access,whereas data security is the technological strength of CVT to protect the data from ***,it is recommended that CV stakeholders take actions to improve potential CV users'confidence in the privacy of data shared by disclosing the data management process,data privacy protection efforts,building public trust in the data manager,and introducing/enforcing laws regarding data privacy protection.
