Gamma/hadron segregation for a ground based imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescope using machine learning methods: Random Forest leads

A detailed case study of γ-hadron segregation for a ground based atmo- spheric Cherenkov telescope is presented. We have evaluated and compared various supervised machine learning methods such as the Random Forest method, Artificial Neural Network, Linear Discriminant method, Naive Bayes Classifiers, Support Vector Machines as well as the conventional dynamic supercut method by simulating triggering events with the Monte Carlo method and applied the results to a Cherenkov telescope. It is demonstrated that the Random Forest method is the most sensitive machine learning method for γ-hadron segregation.

The cross sections of the^(121)Sb(n,2n)^(120)Sb^(m) and ^(123)Sb(n,2n)^(122)Sb reactions were measured at 12.50,15.79 and 18.87 MeV neutron energies relative to the standard ^(27)Al(n,α)^(24)Na monitor reaction using neutron activation and offline γ-ray *** of the samples was performed at the BARC-TIFR Pelletron Linac Facility,Mumbai,*** quasi-monoenergetic neutrons were generated via the ^(7)Li(p,n)*** model calculations were performed by nuclear reaction codes TALYS(ver.1.9)and EMPIRE(ver.3.2.2)using various input parameters and nuclear level density *** cross sections of the ground and the isomeric state as well as the isomeric cross section ratio were studied theoretically from reaction threshold to 26 MeV *** effect of pre-equilibrium emission is also discussed in detail using different theoretical *** present measured cross sections were discussed and compared with the reported experimental data and evaluation data of the JEFF-3.3,ENDF/B-VIII.0,JENDL/AD-2017 and TENDL-2019 libraries.A detailed analysis of the uncertainties in the measured cross section data was performed using the covariance analysis ***,a systematic study of the(n,2n)reaction cross section for^(121)Sb and^(123)Sb isotopes was also performed within 14-15 MeV neutron energies using various systematic *** work helps to overcome discrepancies in Sb data and illustrate a better understanding of pre-equilibrium emission in the(n,2n)reaction channel.

The polycrystalline ceramic Pb0.5Ba1.5BiVO6 manifesting the complex double perovskite structure was tailored by the conventional solid state route at a moderate *** phase analysis and formation of the ceramic were affirmed by XRD *** X-ray powder diffraction pattern of the compound explored at room temperature affirms the single phase formation with double perovskite structure exhibiting rhombohedral *** analysis of the studied compound procured from the Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM)validates the formation of dense microstructures and nonuniformly distributed grains with minimal *** analysis was shaped through the Electron Diffraction Spectroscopy(EDS)confirming the absence of con-tamination of any other metals apart from the mentioned ***(Cr and tanδ)parameters of the compound were studied using the LCR analyzer at different temperatures and wide range of *** polarization and dielectric study affirms the presence of ferroelectricity in the material with transition temperature much above the room *** tangent dielectric loss of this sample being almost minimal at room temperature attributes it to find applications in different grounds of *** equities of the ceramic were further analyzed by the RAMAN,FTIR,UV–Vis and Photoluminescence spectroscopy.

In this paper,an advanced and optimized Light Gradient Boosting Machine(LGBM)technique is proposed to identify the intrusive activities in the Internet of Things(IoT)*** followings are the major contributions:i)An optimized LGBM model has been developed for the identification of malicious IoT activities in the IoT network;ii)An efficient evolutionary optimization approach has been adopted for finding the optimal set of hyper-parameters of LGBM for the projected ***,a Genetic Algorithm(GA)with k-way tournament selection and uniform crossover operation is used for efficient exploration of hyper-parameter search space;iii)Finally,the performance of the proposed model is evaluated using state-of-the-art ensemble learning and machine learning-based model to achieve overall generalized performance and *** outcomes reveal that the proposed approach is superior to other considered methods and proves to be a robust approach to intrusion detection in an IoT environment.

Although plasma cell infiltration is not rare in autopsy of patients with multiple myeloma （MM）, it is very rarely detected in living patients. This is because MM rarely causes significant liver dysfunction that requires further evaluation. A 49-year-old man presented with acute renal failure and was diagnosed with kappa light chain MM stageⅡB. Thalidomide and dexamethasone were initiated. The patient developed a continuous increase in bilirubin that led to severe cholestasis. A liver biopsy revealed plasma cell infiltration. He then rapidly progressed to liver failure and died. Treatment options are limited in MM with significant liver dysfunction. Despite new drug therapies in MM, those patients with rapidly progressive liver failure appear to have a dismal outcome.

Experimentally measured neutron activation cross sections are presented for the ^(65)Cu(n,0)^(62m)Cu,^(41) k(n,a)^(38C)l,and ^(65)Cu(n.2n)^(64)Cu reactions with detailed uncertainty *** neutron cross secions were measured at an incident energy of 14.92±0.02 MeV,and the neutrons were based on the(d,n)a fusion *** ^(27) Al(n,a)^(24)Na reaction was used as a reference reaction for the normalization of the neutron *** pre-calib-rated lead-shielded HPGe detector was used to detect the residues'γ-ray *** data from the measured cross sections are compared to the previously measured cross sections from the EXFOR database,theoretically calculated cross sections using the TALYS and EMPIRE codes,and evaluated nuclear data.

This article demonstrates the synthesis, characterization and the study of in vitro antitubercular activities of twenty four new N-（4-（5-aryl-3-（5-methyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl）-1H-pyrazol-1-yl）phenyl）-4-amide derivatives（8a–x）. The antitubercular activity of the compounds against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv（MTB） revealed that 2-chloro-N-（4-（5-（4-chlorophenyl）-3-（5-methyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl）-1H-pyrazol-1-yl）phenyl）benzamide（8n） is the most promising lead molecule with a MIC of1.56 mg/m L, while the corresponding unsubstituted benzamide derivative（8o） is the next most active molecule with a MIC of 3.13 mg/m L. Interestingly, the pyrazole intermediate 5b containing chlorophenyl and N-acylcarbohydrazide substituents also showed significant activity（MIC = 3.13 mg/m L）. Further, the active molecules did not show toxicity against a normal NIH 3T3 cell line, signifying their suitability for further drug development.

Presently,ilmenite concentrates from Odisha Sands Complex at Chhatrapur,India are utilized to produce TiO2 slag by direct smelting in an electric arc ***,the process involves the consumption of excess electrical energy and difficulty in handling the arc furnace due to frothing effects.A more efficient process of pre-reducing the ilmenite before smelting has been proposed in the present *** particular,studies have been undertaken on the reduction process of ilmenite-coke composite *** difference in the reduction behaviour of raw ilmenite and ilmenite-coke composite pellets has been established and compared with that of the pre-oxidized raw *** effects of various processing parameters like temperature,residence time,and reductant percentage on the metallization of composite pellets in a static bed have been *** of about 90%has been achieved at 1250°C for a reduction period of 360 min with a 4%coke ***,the reduced pellets have been characterized through chemical analysis,optical microscopy,field emission scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction *** reduction behaviour of composite pellets has also been found better than that of pre-oxidized pellets indicating the former to be more efficient.

The main goal of this study was to recover indium from the waste liquid crystal display(LCD)*** this context,an ionic liquid Cyphos IL 101 was *** extraction parameters such as equilibration period,acid concentration,chloride ion concentration,hydrogen ion concentration were examined on the extraction efficiency of Cyphos IL 101 towards In(III).Quantitative extraction of indium was found at 2.0 mol/L HCl using 0.005 mol/L Cyphos IL 101 and quantitative stripping with 1.0 mol/L ***’s method was used to determine the extracted species and R3R'PInCl4(R=C6H13;R′=C14H29)was *** on the observations on multi-metal studies,Cyphos IL 101 was further employed for the removal of indium,tin and copper from the leach liquors of waste *** conditions were generated for the recovery of indium from waste ***−Thiele diagram analysis,counter-current extraction and selective stripping were carried out to separate the metal ions,i.e.,indium,tin and *** stages at O/A ratio of 1:3 were required for complete removal of tin from the feed and selective stripping of In and Sn was achieved using 0.1 mol/L H2SO4.A scheme for separating indium from the waste LCDs was proposed.
