The paper highlights the Phyto-diversity and indigenous uses an ecosystem existing in Lahaul Valley of tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti in Himacjhal Pradesh, India. This is one of the most preferred tourist spot especially for foreigners. The cold desert area of India is known for its specific topography, sense climate and unique vegetation. The valley is rich in high value medicinal wealth and local inhabitants (Buddhist) practice the Tebetan Amchi System of Medicine. Keeping in view the continuous pressure on nature, this paper reflects the Phyto-diversity of Valley, with reference to medicinal and aromatic plants and conserva-tion mechanisms to protect the valuable wealth of the valley and also suggests effective ecotourisim planning of the study area.

Insulin is an important hormone that affects various metabolic processes,including kidney *** in insulin's action leads to insulin resistance in the target *** defects in post-receptor insulin signaling,impairment at the receptor level could significantly affect insulin sensitivity of the target *** kidney is a known target of insulin;however,whether the kidney develops "insulin resistance" is *** of the insulin receptor(IR) expression and its function is very well studied in major metabolic tissues like liver,skeletal muscles,and adipose *** physiological relevance of IRs in the kidney has recently begun to be *** credit goes to studies that showed a wide distribution of IR throughout the nephron segments and their reduced expression in the insulin resistance ***,altered renal and systemic metabolism observed in mice with targeted deletion of the IR from various epithelial cells of the kidney has strengthened this *** this review,we recapitulate the crucial findings from literature that have expanded our knowledge regarding the significance of the renal IR in normal-and insulin-resistance states.

Causal role of Helicobacter pylori infection in gastric cancer: An Asian enigma

Helicobacter pylori （H pylori） has been etiologically linked to gastric cancer. H pylori infection is more frequent in less developed Asian countries like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Thailand and is acquired at early age than in more developed Asian countries like Japan and China. Frequency of gastric cancer, however, is very low in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Thailand compared to that in Japan and China. Similar enigma has been reported from Africa as compared to the West. Seroprevalence of HpyloN infection in adult populations of India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Thailand varies from 55% to 92%. In contrast, seroprevalence of H pylon in Chinese and Japanese adults is 44% and 55%, respectively. Annual incidence rate of gastric cancer in India, Bangladesh, and Thailand is 10.6, 1.3, 7.1 per 100 000 populations, respectively; in contrast, that in China and Japan is 32-59 and 80-115 per 100 000 populations, respectively. Several studies from India failed to show higher frequency of H pylori infection in patients with gastric cancer than controls. Available evidences did not support difference in H pylori strains as an explanation for this enigma. Despite established etiological role of H pylon, situation is somewhat enigmatic in Asian countries because in countries with higher frequency of infection, there is lower rate of gastric cancer. Host＇s genetic makeup and dietary and environmental factors might explain this enigma. Studies are urgently needed to solve this issue.

The nano sized TiO2 has been synthesized by sol gel process. The titaniumisopropaxide diluted in propanol hydrolyzed under acidic condition to form a gel. The solvent from gel pores has been extracted at ambient pressure resulting in nano sized TiO2 crystallites. The crystalline phase of TiO2 could be assigned to anatase structure. An average crystallite size is about 12 nm. The surface area of TiO2 found to be 235 m2/g. The TiO2 nanocrystallites thus produced were blended with polysulphone to form its beads for ease of operation. These beads of TiO2 were used as photo catalyst in conjunction with H2O2 oxidizer in presence of UV light (254 nm) for treating the 50 ppm Rhodamine B aqueous solution. The solution decolorized within 10 minutes resulting in disappearance of absorption peak at around 600 nm in UV spectrometry. The organic entities degrade in about 60 minutes. The beads of nano sized TiO2 could be easily recovered from the treated effluent for further use.

Autophagy,a cellular degradative process,has emerged as a key regulator of cellular energy production and stress *** autophagy is a common phenomenon observed in several human diseases,and its restoration offers curative ***-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),more recently renamed metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease,is a major metabolic liver disease affecting almost 30%of the world ***,NAFLD has no pharmacological therapies available to *** regulates several hepatic processes including lipid metabolism,inflammation,cellular integrity and cellular plasticity in both parenchymal(hepatocytes)and non-parenchymal cells(Kupffer cells,hepatic stellate cells and sinusoidal endothelial cells)with a profound impact on NAFLD *** cell type-specific autophagy in the liver is essential in order to develop targeted treatments for liver diseases such as *** autophagy in specific cell types can have varying effects on liver function and pathology,making it a promising area of research for liver-related *** review aims to summarize our present understanding of cell-type specific effects of autophagy and their implications in developing autophagy centric therapies for NAFLD.

In the present work,zinc oxide(ZnO)and silver(Ag)doped ZnO nanostructures are synthesized using a hydrothermal *** quality of the products is attested using X-ray diffraction,which confirms the hexagonal wurtzite struc-ture of pure ZnO and Ag-doped ZnO *** further confirms the crystallite orientation along the c-axis,(101)*** field emission scanning electron microscope study reveals the change in shape of the synthesized ZnO particles from hexagonal nanoparticles to needle-shaped nanostructures for 3 wt%Ag-doped *** optical band gaps and lattice strain of nanostructures is increased significantly with the increase of doping concentration of Ag in ZnO *** anti-microbial activity of synthesized nanostructures has been evaluated against the gram-positive human pathogenic bacteria,Staphylococcus aureus via an agarose gel diffusion *** maximum value of zone of inhibition(22 mm)is achieved for 3 wt%Ag-doped ZnO nanostructure and it clearly demonstrates the remarkable antibacterial activity.

AIM: To study host gene expression and numberof immune cells in liver tissues from patients with fulminant hepatitis E(FH-E).METHODS: Microarray-based expression profiling was done using Illumina Human WG-6_v3_Bead Chip arrays on post-mortem liver tissue from 5 patients with FH-E,and compared with similar tissue from 6 patients with fulminant hepatitis B(FH-B; disease controls) and normal liver tissue from 6 *** expression was defined as ≥ 2.0-fold change with Benjamini-Hochberg false discovery rate below 0.05 using t-test in liver tissue from FH-B and FH-E,than healthy liver *** some genes that showed differential expression in FH-E,microarray data were validated using quantitative reverse transcription *** expressed gene lists were then subjected to "Gene Ontology" analysis for biological processes,and pathway analysis using Bio Carta database on the DAVID *** addition,tissue sections were stained for CD4+,CD8+ and CD56+ cells using indirect immunohistochemistry; cells staining positive for each of these markers were counted and compared between ***: Compared to normal livers,those from patients with FH-E and FH-B showed differential expression of 3377 entities(up-regulated 1703,downregulated 1674) and 2572 entities(up 1164,down 1408),*** included 2142(up 896,down 1246) entities that were common between the two sets; most of these belonged to metabolic,hemostatic and complement pathways,which are active in normal *** expression data from livers of patients with FH-E but not those of FH-B showed activation of several immune response pathways,particularly those involving cytotoxic T *** fold-change values of m RNA for selected genes in livers from FH-E than in normal liver tissue determined using quantitative reverse transcription PCR showed excellent concordance with microarray *** immunohistochemistry,CD8+ T cells showed an increase in liver biopsies from both FH-E [median

Achalasia cardia is one of the common causes of motor *** the disease was first described more than 300 years ago,exact pathogenesis of this condition still remains ***,achalasia cardia is caused by loss of inhibitory ganglion in the myenteric plexus of the *** the initial stage,degeneration of inhibitory nerves in the esophagus results in unopposed action of excitatory neurotransmitters such as acetylcholine,resulting in high amplitude non-peristaltic contractions(vigorous achalasia);progressive loss of cholinergic neurons over time results in dilation and low amplitude simultaneous contractions in the esophageal body(classic achalasia).Since the initial description,several studies have attempted to explore initiating agents that may cause the disease,such as viral infection,other environmental factors,autoimmunity,and genetic *** Chagas disease,which mimics achalasia,is caused by an infective agent,available evidence suggests that infection may not be an independent cause of primary achalasia.A genetic basis for achalasia is supported by reports showing occurrence of disease in monozygotic twins,siblings and other first-degree relatives and occurrence in association with other genetic diseases such as Down's syndrome and Parkinson's *** in genes encoding for nitric oxide synthase,receptors for vasoactive intestinal peptide,interleukin 23 and the ALADIN gene have been ***,studies on larger numbers of patients and controls from different ethnic groups are needed before definite conclusions can be ***,the disease is believed to be multi-factorial,with autoimmune mechanisms triggered by infection in a genetically predisposed individual leading to degeneration of inhibitory ganglia in the wall of the esophagus.
