Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is one of the main causes of liver disease *** steatosis is a common finding in many hepatic and extrahepatic disorders,the most common being metabolic syndrome (MS).Overtime,it has been shown that the frequent coexistence of these two conditions is not coincidental,since many epidemiological,clinical,and experimental studies have indicated HCV to be strongly associated with liver steatosis and numerous metabolic ***,we present an overview of publications that provide clinical evidence of the metabolic effects of HCV and summarize the available data on the pathogenetic mechanisms of this *** has been shown that HCV infection can induce insulin resistance (IR) in the liver and peripheral tissues through multiple *** research has suggested that HCV interferes with insulin signaling both directly and indirectly,inducing the production of several proinflammatory *** replication,assembly,and release from hepatocytes require close interactions with lipid droplets and host *** modulation of lipid metabolism in host cells can induce hepatic steatosis,which is more pronounced in patients with HCV genotype *** risk of steatosis depends on several viral factors (including genotype,viral load,and gene mutations) and host features (visceral obesity,type 2 diabetes mellitus,genetic predisposition,medication use,and alcohol consumption).HCV-related IR and steatosis have been shown to have a remarkable clinical impact on the prognosis of HCV infection and quality of life,due to their association with resistance to antiviral therapy,progression of hepatic fibrosis,and development of hepatocellular ***,HCV-induced IR,oxidative stress,and changes in lipid and iron metabolism lead to glucose intolerance,arterial hypertension,hyperuricemia,and atherosclerosis,resulting in increased cardiovascular mortality.

Tahini halvah is specific confectionery product known in Bosnia and Herzegovina over centuries. It is made of sesame-seed paste （tahini）, sugar and soapwort （Saponaria officinalis） extract by certain technological process, with creating needle-like particles which give a specific fiber structure to halvah. Production of tahini halvah in Bosnia and Herzegovina mostly was placed under artisanal conditions by poorly trained staff and was based on experiences and established practice. There is a very few scientific papers deal with ways of production and specific properties of this product in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Main objective of this paper was focused on studying technological process of 4 different samples of tahini halvah （standard tahini halvah, tahini halvah with pistachios, tahini halvah with cacao and black halvah with wheat grits, cacao and nuts）. All samples were produced under industrial conditions. Chemical and sensory quality parameters of investigated samples were presented in this paper. Significant differences between samples were found and influenced by different ingredients and technological process.

Celiac disease, also known as "celiac sprue", is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the small intestine, produced by the ingestion of dietary gluten products in susceptible people. It is a multifactorial disease, including genetic and environmental factors. Environmental trigger is represented by gluten while the genetic predisposition has been identified in the major histocompatibility complex region. Celiac disease is not a rare disorder like previously thought, with a global prevalence around 1%. The reason of its under-recognition is mainly referable to the fact that about half of affected people do not have the classic gastrointestinal symptoms, but they present nonspecific manifestations of nutritional deficiency or have no symptoms at all. Here we review the most recent data concerning epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, available diagnostic tests and therapeutic management of celiac disease.

Leaching behaviour of heavy metals (HMs) from simulated soil (SS), prepared according to standard guidelines, as well as its constituents (quartz sand (QS), bentonite clay (BC), and peat moss (PM)) were investigated. The study focused on a batch process with the aim of comparing the leaching potentials and metals solubilisation of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA), ethylene diamine disuccinic acid (EDDS), acetylacetone (Hacac), citric acid (CA), and tartaric acid (TA) for sustainable metal extraction purposes after a maximum leaching time of 60 min. The HMs concentrations with which the constituents were spiked with was such that reflected a contaminated site. The recovery potentials of both the SS and its constituents were found to vary for single metal (SM) and multi-metal (MM) systems. EDTA was the most efficient (on average 31% and 33% for SM and MM) and TA the least efficient (on average of 2% and 3% for SM and MM) extractant. For Hacac, preferential recovery for Cu and Ni were significant when compared to the other metals, while, metal recovery by EDDS in SS was lower than could be expected. The leaching trend for the targeted metals was studied using conventional leaching models.

This paper shows the effect of three different leaching processes and 4 different leaching agents on the extraction of five metals of interest from an artificially contaminated simulated soil (SS). For the first time, it is shown that these processes and extractants could be compared directly, as the soil was a constant variable. The interest of this study is that the recovery of metals that are of importance in the circular economy, have been demonstrated from an unusual resource, soil. Metal reserves are constantly decreasing worldwide and alternative resources becoming topical. Urban mining of contaminated land and/or waste sites, therefore, becomes an attractive choice for metal extraction/recovery. This study has shown that metal extraction of up to 50% efficiency could be achieved. Furthermore, EDTA proved to be the best overall extractant when used in batch leaching processes. However, different metals showed preferential recoveries with specific processes and extractants. Therefore the results suggest that the design of a contaminant-specific leaching process performed in a sequential manner could not only leach the metals, but also achieve reasonable separation of the metals.
