Spatial and tem.oral patterns of sarcoptic m.nge in wom.ats using the citizen science tool,Wom.AT

There is currently lim.ted inform.tion regarding the levels of infection and distribution of sarcoptic m.nge in the wom.at population throughout *** analyzed cases of sarcoptic m.nge in bare-nosed wom.ats reported into Wom.AT,a website and m.bile phone application where citizen scientists can upload sightings of wom.ats,burrows,and sarcoptic m.nge *** used m.xent software to predict locations and the environm.ntal factors associated with sarcoptic m.nge occurrence in bare-nosed wom.ats.A total of 1379 sarcoptic m.nge-infected and 3043 non-sarcoptic m.nge-infected wom.ats were reported by 674 and 841 citizen scientists,*** all the wom.ats reported to Wom.AT from.2015 to 2019,31.2%were infected with sarcoptic *** m.nge in bare-nosed wom.ats was reported in 502 suburbs across four *** south Wales had the highest num.er of sarcoptic m.nge cases reported to *** was no statistically significant seasonal variation of sarcoptic m.nge levels in bare-nosed *** m.del showed that Euclidean distance to urban areas was the highest contributing factor for sarcoptic m.nge *** distance to urban areas decreased,the suitability for sarcoptic m.nge *** precipitation was the next contributing factor in the m.del,with higher rainfall of 400–700 m. correlating to an increase in sarcoptic m.nge *** the data collected to date have provided the largest-scale contem.orary distribution of sarcoptic m.nge in wom.ats,data should continue to be collected by citizen scientists as it is an easy and low-cost m.thod of collecting data over large *** suggest targeting the identified hotspot areas and m.re site-specific studies for studying and m.tigating sarcoptic m.nge in bare-nosed wom.ats.

Utilization of RNA sequencing to investigate olfactory dysfunction in chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyps:A pilot study

Objectives:Prior research on olfactory dysfunction in chronic rhinosinusitis(CRS)has focused on patients with polyps and suggests that direct inflam.ation of the olfactory cleft m.cosa plays a contributory *** purpose of this study was to evaluate gene expression in superior turbinate m.cosal specim.ns,com.aring norm.sm.c and dysosm.c CRS patients without polyps(CRSsNP).m.thods:Tissue sam.les were obtained from.the superior turbinates of patients with CRSsNP at the tim. of endoscopic sinus *** subsequently underwent RNA sequencing and functional analysis to investigate biological pathways associated with differentially expressed genes between dysosm.c(n=7)and norm.sm.c(n=4)***:Differential gene expression analysis com.aring dysosm.c and norm.sm.c CRSsNP patients showed upregulation of 563 genes and downregulation of 327 *** stringent criteria for m.ltiple com.arisons,one upregulated gene(Im.ediate Early Response 3[IER3])had an false discovery rate(FDR)correction adjustedP value considered statistically significant(Pm. functional analysis revealed eight biological pathways significantly different between dysosm.c and norm.sm.c patients(Pm.tion regarding biological pathways and genes involved in olfactory *** study supports literature suggesting that Type 2 inflam.ation m.y play a role in olfactory dysfunction in at least som. patients with *** study also prom.ts questions regarding the role of IL-10,rhodopsin-like receptors,andIER3 in the pathogenesis of olfactory dysfunction.

m.ny anim.ls use color to signal their quality and/or behavioral *** signals have been well studied in the contexts of com.eti-tion and m.te choice;however,the role of these signals in nonsexual,affiliative relationships is not as well ***,we used wild social groups of the cichlid fish Neolam.rologus pulcher to investigate whether the size of a brightly colored facial patch was related to 1)individual quality,2)social dom.nance,and/or 3)affiliative *** with larger patches spent m.re tim. foraging and tended to perform.m.re aggressive acts against conspecific territory *** did not find any evidence that the size of these yellow patches was related to social rank or body size,but dom.nant m.les tended to have larger patches than dom.nant ***,patch size had a rank-specific relationship with the num.er of affiliative interactions that individuals engaged *** m.les with large patches received fewer affiliative acts from.their groupm.tes com.ared to dom.nant m.les with sm.ll ***,subordinates with large patches tended to receive m.re affiliative acts from.their groupm.tes while perform.ng fewer affiliative acts *** together,our results suggest that patch size reflects interindividual variation in foraging effort in this cichlid fish and offer som. of the first evidence that colorful signals m.y shape affiliative relationships withinwildsocialgroups.

Highly pure red phosphors Lim.PO_(3))_(3):Eu^(3+)(m.Sr,Ca) doped with Eu^(3+)(1 m.l%) were synthesized via solution com.ustion m.thod and their crystal structure and lum.nescence dynam.cs were studied to explore its suitability in white light em.tting *** Rietveld refinem.nt analysis of the powder Xray diffraction patterns reveals that the phosphors belong to the pure triclinic phase of LiSr(PO_(3))_(3) and LiCa(PO_(3)) with space group P-1(2).The scanning electron m.croscopy im.ges showed the agglom.rated *** photolum.nescence em.ssion spectra under 393 nm.show an orange band at 594 nm.and a red band at 613 nm.ascribed to ^(5)D_(0)→^(7)F_(1).^(5)D_(0)→^(7)F_(2) transitions of Eu^(3+)ion in both the ***,the spectroscopic properties such as lum.nescence behaviour,and Stark splitting were used to exam.ne the sym.etry of Eu^(3+)ions in Lim.PO_(3))_(3):Es^(3+)(m.Sr,Ca) phosphors in term. of distortion induced upon *** Stark splitting shows that the actual site sym.etry for Eu^(3+)ion was estim.ted to be D_(2) type for both *** photom.tric properties of LiCa(PO_(3))_(3):Eu^(3+)such as Com.ission International de l'Eclairage coordinates(x=0.64,y=0.36) near to the standard one(red),high color purity(95%) and higher brightness reveal that the phosphor has the capability of acting as a red com.onent in n-UV white light em.tting diodes.

Com.arison of trigem.nal lateralization with differing stim.lants

Trigem.nal-specific stim.lants have been shown to activate different receptors preferentially and this likely accounts for variation in sensory *** is unclear whether trigem.nal sensitivity is sim.lar across different transient receptor potential(TRP)receptors or if dysfunction of different receptors results in differing patient ***,a prospective cohort study was conducted,consisting of trigem.nal lateralization testing with three different stim.lants(eucalyptol,isothiocyanate,acetic acid),olfaction testing with Sniffin'Sticks,and m.asurem.nt of various patient‐reported outcom. m.asures(PROm.).A total of 50 participants were enrolled across the olfactory *** TDI score was 27.1±8.3(range 7.0–39.5)with 38%norm.sm.c and 62%*** trigem.nal lateralization scores out of 20 in the overall cohort were 16.18(2.78)for eucalyptol,14.94(3.49)for m.stard oil,and 15.28(3.68)for *** showed a significant correlation with threshold scores of Sniffin'Sticks.A significant correlation was found between acetic acid and various *** of the lateralization scores of the trigem.nal stim.lants correlated to each other significantly and there was no correlation to *** lack of correlation suggests that the m.asured sensitivity of one type of TRP receptor m.y not translate to sim.lar sensitivity of the other *** investigations with TRPV1 and TRPA1 agonists are needed to corroborate our findings.
