This paper compares the manner in which ***’s late semiotic theory deals with the problems posed by the dynamic object and the interpretation of signs with that of the earlier,better-known system of *** shows how non-specialist interpreters of signs are often led to suggest that there is more to,for example,a painting than the summation of the lines,forms and colours to be found on the canvas,in other words,to suggest that the sign’s dynamic object may be quite different from its representation as the sign’s immediate *** the 1903ten-class system is composed of the sign and two relational criteria,the fi rst of which being the sign’s mode of representation,which is no other than the relation holding between the sign and what,at the time,was defi ned simply as its *** means that the object itself is not a relevant feature of the system,and therefore this latter,even when the mode of representation is associated with Peirce’s hypoicons,is unable to account for discrepancies between what observers interpret as the sign’s object and the way the sign represents *** explanation for this discrepancy can be found in Peirce’s late,hexadic conception of semiosis,which,in 1908,explicitly integrated immediate and dynamic objects and a typology of which the criteria were not the earlier categories but three universes of experience by means of which Peirce was able to expand considerably the inventory of the sorts of entities qualifying as a sign’s dynamic *** paper draws on these advances to show how immediate and dynamic objects can diverge,and how different interpreters come to widely differing conclusions concerning the objects of signs and how they are interpreted.

Infrastructure facilitates the movement of people, the production and distribution of goods and services, and underpins development. Infrastructure is expensive and long-lasting, and needs long-term policy,planning and management, in terms of design, construction, operation and maintenance. Infrastructure relates particularly to engineering and technology. All technological change brings economic, social, cultural and environmental change, planned and unpredicted. Mega levels of technology bring mega levels of change, effects and impacts. Mega infrastructure such as the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21 st Century Maritime Silk Road, the"One Belt, One Road"(OBOR) initiative, announced by President Xi Jinping in 2013, will require equally mega policy, planning and management. This paper will discuss policy, planning and management issues relating to mega infrastructure and the OBOR initiative, with particular reference to energy, communications, transportation,health, emergency preparedness and response, and less predictable areas of change, for example in disease prevention and control, within the overall need for economic, environmental and ecological *** paper will discuss associated needs for education,training and capacity building in engineering. The paper will also refer to lessons learnt from the original Silk Road in the context of the development of civilizations and intercultural dialogue through the transfer of goods,services, technologies, ideas, knowledge, customs, cultures and philosophies, less predictable and unwanted transfers,for example of disease, and the need for awareness, policy,planning and management of such wider issues.

Wireless smart sensing is now widely used in various applications such as health monitoring and structural *** conventional wireless sensor nodes,significant power is consumed in wirelessly transmitting the raw *** sensing adds local intelligence to the sensor node and reduces the amount of wireless data transmission via on-node digital signal *** the total power consumption is reduced compared to conventional wireless sensing,the power consumption of the digital processing becomes as dominant as wireless data *** paper reviews the state-of-the-art energy-efficient digital and wireless IC design techniques for reducing the power consumption of the wireless smart sensor node to prolong battery life and enable self-powered applications.

Some of the seemingly important contributions made by Russell, Cantor and Godel regarding the foundations of mathematics lose credibility when addressed at a more fundamental level which assumes language consists of symbols devoid of what they mean. Such an approach can reveal neglected assumptions which are of consequence when made explicit and which, in particular, mean that Hilbert in fact had no need to heed Godel＇s revolutionary results regarding the foundations of mathematics.

Background Deforestation is a widespread disturbance for neotropical freshwater *** biodiversity declines have been associated with deforestation,its functional consequences for stream and river fish faunas remain poorly *** this study,we explored how deforestation affects the different facets of the functional structure of fish communities inventoried using environmental DNA metabarcoding in 64 river and 35 stream sites of French ***,we investigated how functional richness,divergence,evenness and identity of fish faunas are affected by *** We showed that anthropogenic disturbances in French Guiana are modifying the functional diversity of freshwater fish *** disturbances not only affected the amount of functional traits held by the communities but also the identity of the traits and the internal structure of the functional ***,different facets of the functional diversity supported by fish assemblages were *** streams,deforestation did not affect the overall diversity of traits but reduced functional redundancy,underlined by a shift in functional identity towards assemblages dominated by pelagic *** contrast,river fish faunas experienced a decline in functional richness,paired with shifts in functional identity and a loss of fish species with extreme *** The response to deforestation differed between streams and rivers,but it supports the hypothesis that deforestation is linked to functional changes in fish *** diminishing the range of the functions in rivers or by jeopardizing the redundancy of functions in streams,deforestation could severely hamper the functioning and stability of neotropical freshwater ecosystems.

本文以十年为一个时间段,回顾了作为一种专业研究领域的二语写作从1950年到2009年的发展历程,重点研究其21世纪开端十年,即2000年至今的发展动态。历程回顾从三方面进行：（1）以十年为一个时间段,统计并比较了学术期刊、书的章节、书（编著和专著）及学位论文所发表的二语写作的研究成果;（2）描述了二语写作的研究焦点、其他学科对该学科的影响、研究范式、实验设计及教学方法;（3）从相关专业组织、学术会议、学术期刊和系列丛书出版几个方面综观二语写作研究的全球形势,着重关注北美地区和亚洲地区。笔者认为,二语写作领域的发展体现在其日趋专业化、多元化、兼收并蓄的研究方法上;今后的任务是为二语写作理论提供多语研究成果的支持,并使研究项目更连贯合理、更有延展性。笔者还关注获取研究成果的途径,指出通过翻译研究成果可以使其更加便利。笔者相信,二语写作研究是一个动态发展并不断成熟的研究领域,未来将持续发展。
