AIM:To demonstrate the imaging findings of biliopancreatic and pancreatico-biliary reflux in patients with anomalous union of the pancreatico-biliary duct (AUPBD) on gadoxetic acid-enhanced functional magnetic resonance cholangiography (fMRC).METHODS:This study included six consecutive patients (two men and four women;mean age 47.5 years) with *** subjects underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP);one subject also underwent bile sampling of the common bile duct (CBD) to measure the amylase level because his gadoxetic acidenhanced fMRC images showed evidence of pancreatico-biliary reflux of pancreatic *** the five patients with choledochal cysts,four underwent pyloruspreserving ***:The five cases of choledochal cysts were classified as Todani classification Ⅰ.In three of the six patients with AUPBD,injected contrast media reached the distal CBD and pancreatic duct on delay images,suggesting biliopancreatic *** two of these six patients,a band-like filling defect was noted in the CBD on pre-fatty meal images,which decreased in size on delayed post-fatty meal images,suggesting pancreatico-biliary reflux of pancreatic secretions,and the bile sampled from the CBD in one patient had an amylase level of 113 000 IU/*** one of the six patients with AUPBD,contrast media did not reach the distal CBD due to multiple CBD ***:Gadoxetic acid-enhanced fMRC successfully demonstrated biliopancreatic reflux of bile and pancreatico-biliary reflux of pancreatic secretions in patients with AUPBD with and without choledochal cysts.

Ankle brachial index （ABI） and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity （baPWV） are widely used noninvasive modalities to evaluate atherosclerosis. Recently, evidence has increased supporting the use of ABI and baPWV as markers of cerebrovascular disease. This study sought to examine the relationship between ABI and baPWV with ischemic stroke. This study also aimed to determine which pathogenic mechanism, large artery disease （LAD） or small vessel disease （SVD）, is related to ABI or baPWV. Retrospectively, 121 patients with ischemic stroke and 38 subjects with no obvious ischemic stroke history were recruited. First, ABI and baPWV were compared between the groups. Then, within the stroke group, the relevance of ABI and baPWV with regard to SVD and LAD, which were classified by brain magnetic resonance image （MRI） and magnetic resonance angiography （MRA） or computed tomography angiography （CTA） findings, was assessed. The baPWV was higher in the stroke group than non-stroke group （1,944.18±416.6 cm/s vs. 1,749.76±669.6 crn/s, P 〈 0.01）. Regarding LAD, we found that mean ABI value was lower in the group with extracranial large artery stenosis （P 〈 0.01）, and there was an inverse linear correlation between ABI and the grade of extracranial large artery stenosis （P〈 0.01）. For SVD, there was a significant correlation between SVD and baPWV （2,057.6±456.57 cm/s in the SVD （＋） group vs. 1,491±271.62 cm/s in the SVD （-） group; P 〈 0.01）. However, the grade of abnormalities detected in SVD did not correlate linearly with baPWV. These findings show that baPWV is a reliable surrogate marker ofischemic stroke. Furthermore, baPWVand ABI can be used to indicate the presence of small vessel disease and large arterial disease, respectively.

During the past decade,there has been extensive research toward the possibility of exploring magnesium and its alloys as biocompatible and biodegradable materials for implantable *** practical medical application,however,has been limited to specific areas owing to rapid corrosion in the initial stage and the consequent *** coatings can significantly reduce the initial corrosion of Mg alloys,and several studies have been carried out to improve the adhesion strength of the coating to the surfaces of the *** composition of hydroxyapatite(HAp)is very similar to that of bone tissue;it is one of the most commonly used coating materials for bone-related implants owing to favorable osseointegration *** this study,HAp was coated on Mg using nanosecond laser coating,combining the advantages of chemical and physical *** heat generated in the liquid precursor by the laser improved the adhesion of the coating through the precipitation and growth of HAp at the localized nanosecond laser focal area and increased the corrosion resistance and cell adhesion of *** physical,crystallographic,and chemical bondings were analyzed to explore the mechanism through which the surface adhesion between Mg and the HAp coating layer *** applicability of the coating to Mg screws used for clinical devices and improvement in its corrosion property were *** liquid environment-based laser surface coating technique offers a simple and quick process that does not require any chemical ligands,and therefore,overcomes a potential obstacle in its clinical use.

This study was carried out to evaluate the expression of yellow endosperm color in the progeny of Psy-2A-Crt I（β-carotene gene, PAC） transgenic plants crossed with IR36. The selected 25 lines of F2 progeny exhibited stable expression of yellow endosperm color and high agronomic characteristics. IR36 and PAC transgenic plant of the grain length, width and ratio showed the same tendency of normal distribution. For progeny selection, colorimeters were as employed to distinguish differing visible colors. Correlation analysis was conducted to investigate the relationship between b＊ value and the expression of specific genes. b＊ value was associated with the relative expression of the PAC-Rev and MAR product by real-time PCR and t-test revealed significant difference. Based on this study, correlation between colorimetric values and real-time PCR was effective to detect gene expression. Yellow endosperm progenies represent a new genetic pool that might be useful to increase the genetic diversity of yellow endosperm rice.

Iterative static modeling of channelized reservoirs using history-matched facies probability data and rejection of training image

Most inverse reservoir modeling techniques require many forward simulations, and the posterior models cannot preserve geological features of prior models. This study proposes an iterative static modeling approach that utilizes dynamic data for rejecting an unsuitable training image(TI) among a set of TI candidates and for synthesizing history-matched pseudo-soft data. The proposed method is applied to two cases of channelized reservoirs, which have uncertainty in channel geometry such as direction, amplitude, and width. Distance-based clustering is applied to the initial models in total to select the qualified models efficiently. The mean of the qualified models is employed as a history-matched facies probability map in the next iteration of static models. Also, the most plausible TI is determined among TI candidates by rejecting other TIs during the iteration. The posterior models of the proposed method outperform updated models of ensemble Kalman filter(EnKF) and ensemble smoother(ES) because they describe the true facies connectivity with bimodal distribution and predict oil and water production with a reasonable range of uncertainty. In terms of simulation time, it requires 30 times of forward simulation in history matching, while the EnKF and ES need 9000 times and 200 times, respectively.

The onset of the Cambrian witnessed the diversification of ＂small shelly fossils （SSF）＂, which affected carbonate depositional system. One of the problematic SSF, chancelloriids, are common components of the early to middle Cambrian carbonate and shale, and their contributions toward Cambrian carbonates are not yet fully understood. This study assesses distribution patterns of chancelloriid sclerites in the Cambrian Series 3 Daegi Formation based on microfacies analysis and discusses their sedimentologic implications. In the lower part of the formation, partially articulated chancelloriid sclerites occur mainly in bioclastic packstone and grainstone facies, with isolated sclerite rays in nodular packstone to grainstone facies. In the middle part of the formation, chancelloriid fragments occur only sporadically in bioclastic wackestone to packstone, bioclastic grainstone and oolitic packstone to grainstone facies, whereas boundstone facies are nearly devoid of their fragments. There are no chancelloriid fragments in the upper part of the formation, which consists of oolitic packstone to grainstone facies. Chancelloriids are interpreted to have primarily occupied platform margin shoal environments, shedding their sclerites to surrounding areas, and thus contributed as sediment producers. The distribution of Daegi chancelloriid sclerites is similar to other Cambrian examples, with the exception of common chancelloriids in Cambrian Series 2 reefs and their apparent near absence in the Daegi and other Cambrian Series 3 reefs. This disparity resulted from changes in the ecologic niche of chancelloriids after the end-Cambrian Series 2 reef crisis, coupled with an overall decline of chancelloriids in the middle Cambrian.

BACKGROUND Atrophic gastritis is characterized by loss of appropriate glands and reduction in gastric secretory function due to chronic inflammatory processes in gastric mucosa. Moreover, atrophic gastritis is considered as a precancerous condition of gastric cancer. However, little is known about the molecular mechanism underlying gastric mucosal atrophy and its contribution to gastric ***, we hypothesized that transcription factor NKX6.3 might be involved in maintaining gastric epithelial homeostasis by regulating amyloid β(Aβ)*** To determine whether NKX6.3 might protect against gastric mucosal atrophy by regulating Aβ *** We identified NKX6.3 depletion induced cell death by cell count and Western blot assay. Production and mechanism of Aβ oligomer were analyzed by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay, Western blot, immunoprecipitation, real-timequantitative polymerase chain reaction and immunofluorescence analysis. We further validated the correlation between expression of NKX6.3, Helicobacter pylori CagA, Aβ oligomer, apolipoprotein E(ApoE), and β-secretase 1(Bace1) in 55 gastric *** NKX6.3 depletion increased both adherent and floating cell populations in HFE-145 cells. Expression levels of cleaved caspase-3,-9, and poly ADP ribose polymerase were elevated in floating HFE-145^(shNKX6.3) cells. NKX6.3 depletion produced Aβ peptide oligomers, and increased expression of ApoE, amyloid precursor protein, Aβ, Bace1, low-density lipoprotein receptor, nicastrin, high mobility group box1, and receptor for advanced glycosylation end product proteins. In immunoprecipitation assay, γ-secretase complex was stably formed only in HFE-145^(shNKX6.3) cells. In gastric mucosae with atrophy, expression of Aβpeptide oligomer, ApoE, and Bace1 was detected and inversely correlated with NKX6.3 expression.
