Layered-type metal phosphates of BaNb_(2-x)Ta_(x)P_(2)O_(11)(x=0,0.5,1.0,1.5,and 2.0)were synthesized using a solid-state reaction method.The photophysical,optical,and photocatalytic hydrogen production properties of the resulting powders were investigated for the first time.Phase-pure and homogeneous powders with irregular morphologies were obtained at a calcination temperature of 1200℃.As the Ta content increased,the interlayer distance along the c-axis increased by up to 0.14%.Additionally,the optical bandgap values increased from 3.32 to 3.59 eV.The energy band positions were estimated from the Mott–Schottky measurements.BaNb_(2)P_(2)O_(11)(x=0)exhibited the lowest conduction band edge position(-0.14 V vs.the normal hydrogen electrode,NHE),which is located above the water reduction potential(0.0 V vs.NHE).In comparison,BaTa_(2)P_(2)O_(11)(x=2.0)exhibited the highest conduction band edge position(-0.29 V vs.NHE),comparable to that of TiO_(2).The photocatalytic activity for hydrogen produced from splitting water was measured under ultraviolet light irradiation.Notably,BaTa_(2)P_(2)O_(11)exhibited the highest activity(7.3μmol/h),which was 15 and 10 times larger than BaNb_(2)P_(2)O_(11)(0.5μmol/h)and nano-TiO_(2)(0.7μmol/h),respectively.The activity of BaTa_(2)P_(2)O_(11)increased to 24.4μmol/h after deposition of the NiO_(x)co-catalyst(1 wt.%),which remained stable during continuous operation(~35 h).

随着海洋风电由浅海走向深海,固定式海洋平台逐渐被漂浮式海洋平台取代。鱼雷锚基础作为漂浮式锚泊系统的基础部件,克服了固定式锚泊系统在安装过程中依赖水深等特点,成为海洋风电走向深海的“主力军”。为研究鱼雷锚基础的拉拔特性,本文基于PLAXIS 3D有限元软件开展了鱼雷锚拉拔过程的数值模拟研究,分析了鱼雷锚贯入土体后的最终贯入深度、倾斜状态对拉拔位移和鱼雷锚变形的影响规律。研究结果表明,鱼雷锚的拉拔位移随贯入深度的增加而减小,并且对鱼雷锚进行倾斜可有效减小鱼雷锚的拉拔位移。该研究成果可为鱼雷锚的设计和安装提供有益的借鉴与参考。

Improvement in tensile strength of extruded Mg-5Bi alloy through addition of Sn and its underlying strengthening mechanisms

Through an investigation of the microstructure and mechanical properties of extruded Mg–5Bi–x Sn(BT5x, x = 0, 2, 4, and 6 wt%) alloys,this study demonstrates that the addition of Sn to an Mg–5Bi binary alloy significantly improves the tensile strength of the extruded alloy.All the extruded alloys exhibit a typical basal fiber texture and a partially dynamically recrystallized(DRXed) microstructure consisting of fine DRXed grains and coarse un DRXed grains. As the Sn content increases from 0 wt% to 6 wt%, the average size of the DRXed grains decreases from 4.2 to 2.8 μm owing to the increase in the amount of precipitates via their grain-boundary pinning effect. The extruded B5 and BT52 alloys contain numerous Mg_(3)Bi_(2) precipitates, but their size and number density are smaller and higher, respectively, in the latter alloy.Numerous Mg_(2)Sn precipitates as well as Mg_(3)Bi_(2)precipitates are present in the extruded BT54 and BT56 alloys, and the number density of the Mg_(2)Sn precipitates is higher in the latter alloy because of its higher Sn content. The addition of 2 wt% Sn to the B5 alloy significantly improves the yield strength(YS) and ultimate tensile strength(UTS) of the extruded alloy—by 76 and 57 MPa, respectively. This drastic improvement is the combined outcome of enhanced grain-boundary hardening, precipitation hardening, and solid-solution hardening effects induced by the refined DRXed grains, numerous precipitates, and Sn solute atoms, respectively. The further addition of 2 wt% or 4 wt% Sn to the BT52 alloy leads to moderate increments in the YS and UTS of the extruded alloy. Specifically, each addition of 2 wt% Sn increases the YS and UTS by ~26 and ~20 MPa, respectively, which is attributed mainly to the additional precipitation hardening effect induced by the Mg_(2)Sn precipitates.

BACKGROUND Primary hyperparathyroidism(PHPT)is the most common cause of pregnancyrelated hypercalcemia.PHPT can cause maternal and fetal complications in pregnant women.General anesthesia for non-obstetric surgery in pregnant women is associated with maternal hazards and concerns regarding long-term neonatal neurocognitive effects.Surgical removal of the lesion in mid-pregnancy is currently the primary treatment option for pregnant patients with PHPT.However,the blood calcium concentration at which surgery should be considered remains under discussion due to the risk of miscarriage.CASE SUMMARY A 31-year-old nulliparous woman at 11 wk of gestation was admitted to our hospital for parathyroidectomy.The patient had a history of intrauterine fetal death with unknown etiology at 16 wk of gestation 1 year prior.Her blood test results showed that the serum calcium level was elevated to 12.9 mg/dL,and the parathyroid hormone level was elevated to 157 pg/mL.In a neck ultrasound,it revealed a 0.8 cm×1.5 cm sized oval,hypoechoic mass in the upper posterior of the left thyroid gland,which was compatible with parathyroid adenoma.Superficial cervical plexus block(SCPB)for parathyroidectomy was performed.After surgery,the obstetrician checked the status of the fetus,and there were no abnormal signs.Since then her calcium level returned to normal values after one week of surgery and a healthy male neonate of 2910 g was delivered vaginally at 38 wk of gestation.CONCLUSION Our case suggests that SCPB can be an anesthetic option for parathyroidectomy during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Background Hippophae rhamnoides L.（HL） exerts antioxidant activities against various oxidative stress conditions.In this study,we investigated effects of extract from HL leaves （HLE） on cell proliferation and neuroblast differentiation in the subgranular zone （SGZ） of the dentate gyrus （DG） of aged gerbils.Methods Aged gerbils （24 months） were divided into vehicle （saline）-treated-and HLE-treated-groups.The vehicle and HLE were orally administered with 200 mg/kg once a day for 20 days before sacrifice.Cell proliferation and neurobiast differentiation were examined in the DG using Ki67 and doublecortin （DCX）,respectively.We also observed changes in immunoreactivities of superoxide dismutase 1 （SOD1） and superoxide dismutase 2 （SOD2）,brain-derived neurotrophic factor （BDNF）,and phospho-glycogen synthase kinase-3-beta （p-GSK-3β） to examine their relation with neurogenesis using immunohistochemistry.Results The administration of HLE significantly increased the number of Ki67-positive cells and DCX-positive neuroblasts with well-developed processes in the SGZ of the DG of the HLE-treated-group.In addition,immunoreactivities of SOD1,SOD2,BDNF,and p-GSK-3β were significantly increased in granule and polymorphic cells of the DG in the HLE-treated-group compared with those in the vehicle-treated-group.Conclusions HLE treatment significantly increased cell proliferation and neuroblast differentiation,showing that immunoreactivities of SOD1,SOD2,BDNF,and p-GSK-3β were significantly increased in the DG.These indicate that increased neuroblast differentiation neurogenesis may be closely related to upregulation of SOD1,SOD2,BDNF,and p-GSK-3β in aged gerbils.

细菌通过群体感应(QS)分泌信号分子和细胞外聚合物(EPS),使细菌聚集和黏附到生物和非生物表面,在一定条件下形成抗性强、危害性大的生物被膜。目前,生物被膜在医疗、食品和农业等领域中的危害日益严重。尤其是一些致病菌不仅对人类健康构成威胁,甚至会造成较大的社会经济损失。一些传统消毒、杀菌方法难以将其彻底清除,且存在二次污染风险。生物被膜在不同介质表面的强黏附性是其难以被清除的主要原因之一。因此,采用高活性的溶液进行浸泡、清洗是去除生物被膜的有效策略。低温等离子体活化水中的活性氧(ROS)和活性氮(RNS)能破坏细菌的细胞壁、肽聚糖结构,有效抑制微生物黏附和聚集。低温等离子体活化水作为一种高效消毒抑菌溶液,被广泛应用于生物医学、食品去污和种子萌发领域。但低温等离子体活化水中活性物质易消散,难以长期贮藏,导致其抑菌性能减弱。近年来,通过向低温等离子体活化水中添加不同介质或联合其他技术制备的低温等离子体活化溶液,有效延长了活性物质的衰退,使其逐渐成为消毒、抑菌研究的新方向。本文综述了低温等离子体活化水和低温等离子体活化溶液的杀菌作用机理及其对生物被膜的清除效果,重点介绍了生物被膜的形成过程。旨在为环境、医疗及食品行业的生物被膜清除和控制提供理论参考。

Fast interfacial kinetics derived from bicontinuous three-dimensional(3D)architecture is a strategic feature for achieving fast-charging lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).One of the main reasons is its large active surface and short diffusion path.Yet,understanding of unusual electrochemical properties still remain great challenge due to its complexity.In this study,we proposed a nickel–tin compound(Ni_(3)Sn_(4))supported by 3D Nickel scaffolds as main frame because the Ni_(3)Sn_(4) clearly offers a higher reversible capacity and stable cycling performance than bare tin(Sn).In order to verify the role of Ni,atomic-scale simulation based on density functional theory systematically addressed to the reaction mechanism and structural evolution of Ni_(3)Sn_(4) during the lithiation process.Our findings are that Ni enables Ni_(3)Sn_(4) to possess higher mechanical stability in terms of reactive flow stress,subsequently lead to improve Li storage capability.This study elucidates an understanding of the lithiation mechanism of Ni_(3)Sn_(4) and provides a new perspective for the design of high-capacity and high-power 3D anodes for fast-charging LIBs.

Evaluation of visual outcome after cataract surgery in patients with legal blindness

Background:To investigate the outcome of cataract surgery in patients with legal blindness defined as best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA)of 20/1,000 or lower and to determine factors influencing the visual outcome in these patients.Methods:Medical records of 68 eyes of 62 patients diagnosed with legal blindness and underwent cataract surgery were reviewed.The study population was divided into 3 groups based on types of cataracts(Group A:posterior subcapsular cataract,Group B:mature or brunescent cataract,and Group C:cataract combined with other ocular diseases).Data including demographics,predisposing factors,BCVA before and 6 months after surgery and post-operative complications were collected and analyzed.Results:Mean preoperative logMAR BCVA was 1.88±0.24,2.24±0.26 and 1.96±0.31 in Groups A,B and C,respectively(P=0.003).The postoperative BCVA was 0.49±0.35,0.51±0.47 and 0.90±0.53 in Groups A,B and C,respectively(p=0.003).Significant improvement in BCVA was shown in all 3 groups(P<0.001 in Groups A and B and,P=0.001 in Group C).There was significant difference in the amount of visual improvement among the 3 groups,P<0.001).Although there was no significant difference in the amount of visual improvement between group A and C(P=0.379),significantly higher visual improvement was achieved in group B compared with group A(P=0.012)and C(P=0.001).Conclusions:Cataract surgery should be encouraged for patients with legal blindness,even in the presence of other ocular disease.Significant visual recovery was observed in all the groups,particularly in those with mature or brunescent cataract.

Lung cancer has the highest mortality rate among all cancers,in part because it readily metastasizes.The tumor microenvironment,comprising blood vessels,fibroblasts,immune cells,and macrophages[including tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs)],is closely related to cancer cell growth,migration,and invasion.TAMs secrete several cytokines,including interleukin(IL)-1β,which participate in cancer migration and invasion.p21-activated kinase 1(PAK1),an important signaling molecule,induces cell migration and invasion in several carcinomas.Tonicityresponsive enhancer-binding protein(TonEBP)is also known to participate in cancer cell growth,migration,and invasion.However,the mechanisms by which it increases lung cancer migration remain unclear.Therefore,in this study,we aimed to elucidate the mechanisms by which IL-1βand TonEBP affect lung cancer cell migration and invasion.We found that A549 cocultured-MΦ-secreted IL-1βinduced A549 cell migration and invasion via the PAK1 pathway.TonEBP deficiency reduced A549 cell migration and invasion and increased responsiveness to IL-1β–induced migration and invasion.PAK1 phosphorylation,which was promoted by IL-1β,was reduced when TonEBP was depleted.These results suggest that TonEBP plays an important role in IL-1βinduction and invasiveness of A549 cells via the PAK1 pathway.These findings could be valuable in identifying potential targets for lung cancer treatment.
