Introdu.tion Antibiotic u.e for acu.e otitis media(AOM)is one of the major sou.ces of antimicrobial ***,the effective minimal antibiotic du.ation for AOM remains ***,gu.delines often recommend broad ranges(5-10 days)of antibiotic u.e,yet the clinical impact of su.h a wide window has not been *** We systematically searched Pu.Med/MEDLINE,Embase,Scopu.,Web of Science,and Cochrane Library from database inception to 6 October *** meta-analysis was condu.ted on randomized controlled trials that assessed antibiotic treatment for AOM in children(PROSPERO CRD42020196107).Resu.ts For amoxicillin and amoxicillin-clavu.anate,7-day regimens were noninferior to 10-day regimens in clinical responses[amoxicillin:risk ratio(RR)0.919(95%CI 0.820-1.031),amoxicillin-clavu.anate:RR 1.108(0.957-1.282)],except for≤2 *** the third-generation cephalosporins,7-day and 10-day regimens had similar clinical responses compared to placebo[7-day:RR 1.420(1.190-1.694),10-day:RR 1.238(1.125-1.362)compared to placebo].However,5-day regimens of amoxicillin-clavu.anate and third-generation cephalosporins were inferior to 10-day *** to amoxicillin,a shorter treatment du.ation was tolerable with *** Ou. findings indicated that 1O days of antibiotic u.e may be u.necessarily long,while the treatment du.ation shou.d be longer than 5 ***,5-day regimens wou.d be su.ficient for a modest treatment *** findings revealed that the cu.rent wide range of recommended antibiotic du.ations may have influ.nced the clinical ou.come of AOM,and a narrower antibiotic du.ation window shou.d be re-established.

The bou.ds for the eigenvalu.s of the stiffness matrices in the finite element discretization corresponding to Lu.:= - u. with zero bou.dary conditions by qu.dratic hierarchical basis are shown explicitly. The condition nu.ber of the resu.ting system behaves like O(1/h) where h is the mesh size. We also analyze a main diagonal preconditioner of the stiffness matrix which redu.es the condition nu.ber of the preconditioned system to O(1).

Pu.pose This stu.y aimed to explore how edu.ational technology influ.nced a preparatory teacher edu.ation program u.ing heteroglossic and global ***/Approach/Methods The researchers drew u.on the theoretical framework of mu.tilingu.l digital storytelling(MDST),which emphasizes the intercu.tu.al awareness attribu.es of mu.tilingu.l learners(MLs)and takes a heteroglossic perspective in lingu.stic *** qu.litative case stu.y examined the experiences of 11 u.S.-based preservice teachers(PSTs)and 12 MLs elementary stu.ents in Korea in the MDST project of a TESOL methods *** The findings showed that PSTs and MLs enhanced their appreciation for edu.ational technology,mu.tilingu.lism,and intercu.tu.al *** the project aimed to decenter English as a hegemonic langu.ge,both PSTs and MLs maintained traditional discou.ses that privileged English over MLs’home langu.ge and targeted literacy correctness in written English only,moving away from the heterogeneou. goals of the cou.se *** and MLs also faced challenges in navigating technological tools,which negatively affected their perception of the ***/Valu. This stu.y contribu.es to heteroglossic approaches in preparatory TESOL teacher edu.ation programs and improves the u.derstanding of challenges in edu.ational technology u.e for global mu.tilingu.l exchanges to promote global citizenship.

The u.e of artificial nest boxes by Siberian flying squ.rrels (Pteromys volans) in Sou.h Korea

In this stu.y, we examined the u.e of artificial nest boxes by Siberian flying squ.rrels (Pteromys volans) in three coniferou. and mixed forests in Gangwon Province, Sou.h Korea. Six hu.dred and twelve boxes with different sized entry holes (ranging from 3 to 7 cm in diameter) were placed in the forests between 2004 and 2009. Pteromys volans u.ed nine boxes in the coniferou. forests and two boxes in the mixed forests. The squ.rrels only u.ed boxes with entrance holes measu.ing 3.5, 4, and 5 cm in diameter, showing a strong and moderate preference for boxes with 5 and 4-cm holes, respectively, and a strong avoidance for boxes with 3- and 7-cm holes. Therefore, we su.gest placing artificial nest boxes with entrance holes 5 cm in diameter to encou.age breeding activity. Most nests made in the artificial boxes were composed of fibrou. materials from woody vines. We recommend placing artificial nest boxes with holes of 5-cm diameter in coniferou. forests, which su.port dense popu.ations of P. volans, to su.vey whether this approach wou.d positively affect the breeding habits and popu.ation maintenance of this species.

BACKGROu.D Perivascu.ar epithelioid cell tu.or(PEComa)is a rare mesenchymal tu.or that exhibits an epithelioid and spindle cell *** tu.or is characterized by immu.oreactivity for melanocytic and myogenic markers bu. can be misdiagnosed as more common tu.ors with similar characteristics,inclu.ing gastrointestinal stroma tu.ors or ***,a su.set of PEComas has been reported to harbor a transcription factor binding to TFE3 ***,we report a rare case of TFE3-expressing malignant PEComa arising from the *** Su.MARY A 50-year-old woman presented with abdominal discomfort for 3 *** of laboratory tests were all within the normal ranges,and the patient had no notable medical *** resonance imaging revealed a large tu.or on the right side of the pelvic floor,which was originally su.pected to be a primary ovarian ***,du.ing su.gery,the tu.or was revealed to have originated from the ***,the tu.or was composed of bu.dles of spindle cells and sheets of epithelioid *** coagu.ative necrosis and nu.erou. mitotic figu.es were *** revealed that the tu.or cells were positive for smooth mu.cle actin,HMB-45,and TFE3 *** involvement of the rectal serosa was identified,leading to a final diagnosis of malignant PEComa of the *** resection was followed by adju.ant *** recu.rence or metastasis was observed over a 6-month follow-u. *** Malignant PEComa of the mesentery is extremely rare and shou.d be distingu.shed from morphological mimics throu.h differential diagnosis and immu.ohistochemistry.

Backgrou.d Althou.h smoking is classified as a risk factor for severe COVID-19 ou.comes,there is a scarcity of stu.ies on prevalence of smoking du.ing the COVID-19 ***,this stu.y aims to analyze the trends of prevalence of smoking in adolescents over the COVID-19 pandemic *** The present stu.y u.ed data from middle to high school adolescents between 2005 and 2021 who participated in the Korea You.h Risk Behavior Web-based Su.vey(KYRBS).We evalu.ted the smoking prevalence(ever or daily)by year grou.s and estimated the slope in smoking prevalence before and du.ing the *** A total of 1,137,823 adolescents participated in the stu.y[mean age,15.04 years[95%confidence interval(CI)15.03-15.06];and male,52.4%(95%CI 51.7-53.1)].The prevalence of ever smokers was 27.7%(95%CI 27.3-28.1)between 2005 and 2008 bu. decreased to 9.8%(95%CI 9.3-10.3)in 2021.A consistent trend was fou.d in daily smokers,as the estimates decreased from 5.4%(95%CI 5.2-5.6)between 2005 and 2008 to 2.3%(95%CI 2.1-2.5)in ***,the downward slope in the overall prevalence of ever smokers and daily smokers became less pronou.ced in the COVID-19 pandemic period than in the pre-pandemic *** the su.grou. with su.stance u.e,the decreasing slope in daily smokers was significantly more pronou.ced du.ing the pandemic than du.ing the pre-pandemic *** The proportion of ever smokers and daily smokers showed a less pronou.ced decreasing trend du.ing the *** findings of ou. stu.y provide an overall u.derstanding of the pandemic's impact on smoking prevalence in adolescents.
