Glutamic acid supplementation recovers the reduced performance of weanling pigs fed reduced crude protein diets

This study was conducted to evaluate the supplementation of glutamic acid(Glu)to reduced protein diets on the performance of weanling *** hundred and eighty crossbred weanling pigs([YorkshireLandrace]Duroc,21 d old)having similar body weight(BW)of 6.45 kg were randomly allotted to 1 of 6 dietary treatments(5 pigs per pen[2 barrows and 3 gilts];6 pens per treatment)based on BW and sex during a 6-week *** treatments consisted of positive control(PC)diet formulated to have 226.9,205.6,and 188.8 g crude protein(CP)during phases 1,2,and 3,respectively,and negative control(NC)diets with 20 g CP reduction from PC diets and addition of Glu with increasing levels,resulting in the calculated Lys-to-Glu ratios of 1:2.25,1:2.30.1:2.35,1:2.40,and 1:2.45,designated as NC,NC1,NC2,NC3,and NC4,*** BW of pigs receiving PC diet was higher(P<0.05)than those receiving NC diet at d 7,21 and 42.A higher(P<0.05)average daily gain(ADG)from d 1 to 7,8 to 21,22 to 42 and during the overall experiment period was observed in pigs fed PC than NC *** fed NC diets including the graded level of Glu linearly increased(P<0.05)BW at d 42,ADG and gain-to-feed ratio(G:F)during the overall experimental *** addition,trends in linear increase in BW(P=0.056)at d 7 and ADG from d 1 to 7 and d 22 to 42(linear effect,P=0.081,P=0.058 respectively)were observed.A tendency in the linear increment of NH3(P=0.082)at d 21 and linear reduction in methyl mercaptans(P=0.054)emission at d 42 was observed in pigs fed NC diets supplemented with graded level of *** conclusion,supplementing the reduced protein diet with Glu enhanced the growth performance in weanling pigs suggesting that supplementation of Glu can compensate the reduction of 2%CP in the basal diets.

Plasma Wall Potentials with Secondary Electron Emissions up to the Stable Space-Charge-Limited Condition

Numerical solutions to floating plasma potentials for walls emitting secondary elec- trons are obtained for various surface materials. The calculations are made with plasma moment equations and the secondary electron emission coefficients, which were determined from recent laboratory experiments. The results estimate the wall potentials up to the physical conditions that allow stable plasma sheaths under the space-charge-limited condition. The materials often used in the laboratory, such as aluminum, silicon, boron, molybdenum, silicon dioxide, and alumina, are considered. The minimum wall potential before the onset of space-charge-limited emission is determined by the electron temperatures at which the effective secondary electron emission coefficient integrated over the velocity distributions is about 0.62. The corresponding potential is given by -eφ0 ,- 1.87kBT. The condition for space-charge-limited emission is newly found by numerically searching for all the stable sheaths. The new condition is -eφ0 - 0.95kBT, and this predicts a wall potential that is less negative than the previously found one. Calculation of the power dissipated to the wall for hydrogen plasmas shows that there is a large difference in terms of power dissipation among the considered materials in the temperature range 20-50 eV.

Enhancement parameters of contrast-enhanced computed tomography for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma: Correlation with pathologic grading

Raw scrap powders containing 10 wt.% In were recovered by sand-blasting chamber shields of sputter coaters and used as a sole source of indium components for both sieving and air-classification. Sieving was performed first as a feasibility test, and enrichment of indium component was possible up to 19 wt.% with a mesh size of 635. With this experimental basis, the raw scrap powders were air-classified into 12 lots according to the revolution per minute （r/min） of a single horizontally arranged classifying wheel： 4000, 6000, 8000, 10000, 12000, and 14000 r/rain. The particle cut size varied from 56 to 5 μm with turbo wheel speeds corresponding to 4000 to 14000 r/min, respectively, and enrichment of indium component was possible in fine overflow fractions at all turbo wheel speeds while the indium components were not concentrated in all of the coarse underflow fractions. The grade of the indium components became higher with decreasing particle size of the air-classified scrap powders, with the highest grade obtained in the fine overflow fraction with a turbo wheel speed of 14000 r/min. The amount of indium in the fine overflow fractions varied between 15.9 wt.% and 31.5 wt.%. All in all, the grade or purity of the indium component improved rather significantly from 15.9 wt.% to 31.5 wt.% by air-classification, but this also resulted in overall decrease in recovery rate from 99.33% to 49.64%. Therefore, enrichment and separation of indium should be optimized for maximum recovery and grade of the indium components, which can be used as raw materials in the subsequent electro-refining processes.

Effect of organic mineral supplementation in reducing oxidative stress in Holstein calves during short‑term heat stress and recovery conditions

Heat stress(HS)damages livestock by adversely affecting physiological and immunological ***,fundamental understanding of the metabolic and immunological mechanisms in animals under HS remains elusive,particularly in *** understand the changes on metabolic and immune responses in steers under HS condition,we performed RNA-sequencing and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy-based metabolomics on HS-free(temperature humidity index[THI]value:64.92±0.56)and HS-exposed(THI value:79.13±0.56)Jersey steer(n=8,body weight:559.67±32.72 kg).This study clarifies the metabolic changes in 3 biofluids(rumen fluid,serum,and urine)and the immune responses observed in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells of HS-exposed *** integrated approach allowed the discovery of HS-sensitive metabolic and immunological *** metabolomic analysis indicated that HS-exposed steers showed potential HS biomarkers such as isocitrate,formate,creatine,and riboflavin(P<0.05).Among them,there were several integrative metabolic pathways between rumen fluid and ***,HS altered mRNA expression and immune-related signaling pathways.A meta-analysis revealed that HS decreased riboflavin metabolism and the expression of glyoxylate and dicarboxylate metabolism-related ***,metabolic pathways,such as the hypoxia-inducible factor-1 signaling pathway,were downregulated in immune cells by HS(P<0.05).These findings,along with the datasets of pathways and phenotypic differences as potential biomarkers in steers,can support more in-depth research to elucidate the interrelated metabolic and immunological *** would help suggest new strategies to ameliorate the effects of HS,including disease susceptibility and metabolic disorders,in Jersey steers.

Reactive wetting phenomena of MgO-C refractories in contact with CaO-SiO_2 slag

Wetting phenomena between MgO C and CaO SiO2 slags were investigated by varying carbon content.A sessile drop technique was adopted to study the wetting phenomena in conjunction with a high speed camera for the observation of intrinsic wetting *** results show that the high content of SiO2 and the presence of Al2O3 in slags enhance the diffusion of Mg2+,leading to the promotion of reactive *** carbon in MgO C refractory impedes the penetration of slags by repelling the slag and slowing the diffusion of Mg2+.This accounts for the non-wetting behavior of the slag on MgO C refractory with 17% (mass fraction) carbon similar to that of graphite.

Enhancing the Prediction of User Satisfaction with Metaverse Service Through Machine Learning

Metaverse is one of the main technologies in the daily lives of several people,such as education,tour systems,and mobile application ***,the number of users of mobile metaverse applications is increasing owing to the merit of accessibility *** provide an improved service,it is important to analyze online reviews that contain user *** previous studies have utilized traditional methods,such as the structural equation model(SEM)and technology acceptance method(TAM)for exploring user satisfaction,using limited survey *** methods may not be appropriate for analyzing the users of mobile *** overcome this limitation,several researchers perform user experience analysis through online reviews and star ***,some online reviews occasionally have inconsistencies between the star rating and the sentiment of the *** variation disturbs the performance of machine *** alleviate the inconsistencies,Valence Aware Dictionary and sEntiment Reasoner(VADER),which is a sentiment classifier based on lexicon,is *** current study aims to build a more accurate sentiment classifier based on machine learning with *** this study,five sentiment classifiers are used,such as Naïve Bayes,K-Nearest Neighbors(KNN),Logistic Regression,Light Gradient Boosting Machine(LightGBM),and Categorical boosting algorithm(Catboost)with three embedding methods(Bag-of-Words(BoW),Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency(TF-IDF),Word2Vec).The results show that classifiers that apply VADER outperform those that do not apply VADER,excluding one classifier(Logistic Regression with Word2Vec).Moreover,LightGBM with TF-IDF has the highest accuracy 88.68%among other models.

This review highlights the recent advancements in Mg research in South Korea with a prime focus on high-speed-extrudable Mg–Bi-based alloys for high productivity and strength,innovative techniques utilizing{10–12}twinning for improved mechanical properties,and alloying and processing methods for enhanced corrosion ***-alloyed Mg–Bi-based alloys possess thermally stableα-Mg matrix and secondary phase,which ensures high-speed extrusion of these alloys at elevated temperatures without hot ***,they exhibit outstanding extrudability with a maximum extrusion speed of up to 70 m/***,their high alloying contents offer excellent strength even after high-speed extrusion through strong solid solution hardening and particle hardening effects,making them suitable for high-performance extruded Mg *** pre-twinning process utilizing{10–12}twinning and the combined process of pre-twinning and subsequent annealing have shown promise in controlling microstructure and texture of wrought Mg alloys and thus enhancing their mechanical *** pre-twinning process enhances tensile strength,fatigue properties,and age-hardening rate of Mg ***,the combined processes of pre-twinning and subsequent annealing considerably improve their ductility,stretch formability,bending formability,and damping *** have been made to improve the corrosion resistance of Mg alloys through alloying additions,process treatments,and surface *** elements like Ca,Sc,and Sm alter the microstructural features(such as secondary phases and grain size)that affect the corrosion *** treatments such as multidirectional forging,screw rolling,and pulse electron beam can also improve the corrosion resistance by refining the ***,advanced surface coating technologies can create durable and corrosion-resistant layers for effectively protecting the Mg *** these research activities conducted
