Laser plasma accelerators(LPAs)enable the generation of intense and short proton bunches on a micrometre scale,thus offering new experimental capabilities to research fields such as ultra-high dose rate radiobiology or material *** spectrally broadband,laser-accelerated proton bunches allow for tailored volumetric dose deposition in a sample via single bunches to excite or probe specific sample *** rising number of such experiments indicates a need for diagnostics providing spatially resolved characterization of dose distributions with volumes of approximately 1 cm^(3) for single proton bunches to allow for fast online *** we present the scintillator-based miniSCIDOm detector for online single-bunch tomographic reconstruction of dose distributions in volumes of up to approximately 1 cm^(3).The detector achieves a spatial resolution below 500μm and a sensitivity of 100 *** detector performance is tested at a proton therapy cyclotron and an LPA proton *** experiments’primary focus is the characterization of the scintillator’s ionization quenching behaviour.

An Al62.5Cu25Fe12.5 quasi-crystalline alloy was prepared by are melting. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy were used to study the microstructure of the quasi-crystalline alloy. Isothermal weight gain of the Al-Cu-Fe quasi-crystal at elevated temperature in dry air was measured by means of a thermal balance and the oxidation behavior was evaluated by oxidation kinetic curves, from which it was deduced that the quasi-crystal exhibits good oxidation resistance. The surface morphologies of the Al-Cu-Fe quasi-crystal after isothermal oxidation at 700°C and 800°C for different times were observed. The oxidation resistance of quasi-crystalline powder and normal crystalline powder in the Al-Cu-Fe system was also quantitatively compared in quantity.

In the present study,organically modified montmorillonite clay with polar moiety,the Cloisite 30B,is used for preparation of Hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene(HTPB)-clay nanocomposites(HCN)by dispersion of nanoclay in polymer matrix under high shear *** nanocomposites thus prepared are evaluated in composite propellants as inhibitor material for their functional *** inhibition formulations containing 5 wt%-15 wt%of nanoclay,with or without the conventional filler Sb2O3,were *** these formulations were evaluated for their physical,mechanical,thermal,and ablative *** rate and density of the compositions containing Cloisite 30B is around 23%and 5%lower respectively in comparison of the base *** capability of these compositions is twofold higher than that of base *** compositions have also been evaluated for their smoke generation tendency by measuring infra red(IR)attenuation in the wavelength range 1.3 mm e5.6 mm and 8 mme13 mm and thereby compared with the base *** corresponding results confirmed that the compositions containing Cloisite 30B as filler have much lower IR attenuation than compositions with conventional filler,*** of 5%Sb2O3 by nanoclay showed 8%reduction in IR attenuation rate which further reduced to 16%on replacement of 15%of *** bonding of HCN based inhibitors is also comparable or even better than conventional ***,the nanoclay composites with Cloisite 30B as filler exhibit all desirable properties of an inhibitor.

This paper reports on a simple approach of determining the ability of a transparent material, such as cellophane to rotate the direction of polarization of a light beam. In order to determine the birefringence of such a material, a mach-Zehnder interferometer is used to generate interference patterns when the cellophane sheet is mounted on one arm such as to intercept a portion of the laser beam. The recorded interferograms show a phase shift which is calculated to be 0.98π radians. By rotating the cellophane sheet on the object beam, the fringe separation is measured for different angles and the values used to calculate the ordinary and extraordinary refractive indices as 1.4721 ± 0.0002 and 1.4680 ± 0.0002 respectively at 632.8 nm wavelength. A surface error of approximately λ/16 (peak to valley) is measured from the recorded interferograms. Because of its sufficient birefringence and small thickness of 24 μm, cellophane can be used to fabricate special polarization pupil masks by cutting and aligning different cellophane structures appropriately.

Remission of Relapsing Immunotactoid Glomerulonephritis with Fludarabine

Immunotactoid gloemrulonephritis is a glomerular disease characterized by organized microtubular deposits of monoclonal immunoglobulin. These deposits are Congo red-negative, have hollow centers, measure > 30 nm, and are arranged in stacked or parallel arrays. Treatment of immunotactoid glomerulonephritis is not well-defined, with poor outcomes seen in native kidneys. In fewer than 10% of the cases, trials with steroids alone or cytotoxic agents with steroids or plasmapheresis with steroids has been associated with clinical remission of proteinuria. 50% of patients with renal impairment progress to end stage renal disease (ESRD) in two to four years. There are three case reports of recurrent ITG in renal allograft;one was treated with pulse steroids plus cyclophosphamide, pulse steroids in second case and use of rituximab in the third case. Recurrence of ITG has been described in the renal allograft but there is no literature on relapse of ITG in the native kidneys. Here, we have a case of ITG that relapsed in the native kidneys eight years after being in remission. Renal function improved with fludarabine both times and the patient had stable renal function at last follow-up.
