AIM To investigate the factors affecting diagnostic delay and outcomes of diagnostic delay in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) METHODS We retrospectively studied 165 patients with Crohn's disease(CD) and 130 patients with ulcerative colitis(UC) who were diagnosed and had follow up durations > 6 mo at Korea University Ansan Hospital from January 2000 to December 2015. A diagnostic delay was defined as the time interval between the first symptom onset and IBD diagnosis in which the 76^(th) to 100^(th) percentiles of patients were *** The median diagnostic time interval was 6.2 and 2.4 mo in the patients with CD and UC, respectively. Among the initial symptoms, perianal discomfort before diagnosis(OR = 10.2, 95%CI: 1.93-54.3, P = 0.006) was associated with diagnostic delays in patients with CD; however, no clinical factor was associated with diagnostic delays in patients with UC. Diagnostic delays, stricturing type, and penetrating type were associated with increased intestinal surgery risks in CD(OR = 2.54, 95%CI: 1.06-6.09; OR = 4.44, 95%CI: 1.67-11.8; OR = 3.79, 95%CI: 1.14-12.6, respectively). In UC, a diagnostic delay was the only factor associated increased intestinal surgery risks(OR = 6.81, 95%CI: 1.12-41.4).CONCLUSION A diagnostic delay was associated with poor outcomes, such as increased intestinal surgery risks in patients with CD and UC.

The fabrication of a highly dense and ultrathin Gd doped ceria(GDC) interlayer on a large-area, porous electrolyte-coated planar anode support using vacuum slurry coating is studied for application in solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs). The electrolyte-coated planar anode support body is fabricated by tape casting and pre-sintering is performed at 1100, 1150, and 1200°C. The GDC interlayer is coated onto the pre-sintered electrolyte-coated anode support using a vacuum slurry coating process with different immersion times(30–60 s). A highly dense and ultrathin GDC interlayer with a thickness of 1.48 μm is produced after co-sintering at 1400°C. The 1200°C pre-sintered electrolyte-coated anode support showed a thin and highly dense GDC interlayer which is attributed to a lower shrinkage difference between the coated GDC interlayer and pre-sintered body. The electrochemical performance of a vacuum slurry-coated GDC interlayer cell is 38 % higher compared to that of the screen-printed GDC-coated cell at 700°C due to the greatly reduced Ohmic and electrode polarization resistances. The considerable improvement in the performance is attributed to the ultrahigh GDC density which has prevented the secondary phase formation between the cathode and electrolyte. This study presents the economical, scalable, and reproducible process for the fabrication of highly robust GDC interlayer for the large-area planar anode-supported SOFCs.

Microalgae have piqued renewed interest as a sustainable biofuel feedstock owing to their high CO_(2)conversion ***,the major limitation of microalga-based biofuel production is low *** this study,CO_(2)in flue gas emitted from the coal-fired power plants was fixed through mass microalgal cultivation using only sunlight as an energy *** minimize the cost and energy required to supply the flue gas and efficiently utilize the microalgal biomass,a polycarbonate(PC)greenhouse and polymeric photobioreactors were installed near the power plant *** different microalgal strains(Chlamydomonas reinhardtii,Chlorella sorokiniana,Neochloris oleoabundans,and Neochloris oleoabundans#13)were subjected to semi-continuous culturing for 1 *** maximum biomass productivity was achieved by the ***-dans#13 strain(0.703 g L^(−1)day^(−1)).Additionally,polymerase chain reaction analysis revealed that the individual microalgal culture was not cross-contaminated with other microalgal cultures in this cultivation system,owing to the structural proper-ties of photobioreactor comprising individual *** lipid content and calorific productivity of ***#13 biomass were 45.70%and 3.553 kJ L^(−1)day^(−1),respectively,which indicate satisfactory performance of biomass as a direct combustion *** CO_(2)fixation rate,which was calculated based on the carbon content in the biomass,was 0.309 g CO_(2)L^(−1)day^(−1).Therefore,large amounts of CO_(2)can be reduced using the large-scale microalgal cultivation system,which enables efficient biological CO_(2)conversion and maximizes microalgal biomass utilization.

In tropical waters where temperatures are relatively stable,we investigated whether the relationship between phytoplankton growth and grazing loss rate across diff erent habitats around Peninsular Malaysia can be attributed to its eutrophication *** measured phytoplankton growth(μ)and grazing loss(g)rates in waters off Bachok Marine Research Station(BMRS),located northeast of Peninsular ***-a(chl-a)concentration ranged from 2.90 to 15.78μg/L and was dominated by nanoand micro-phytoplankton(>2μm in size).Using the Landry and Hassett dilution method,μat BMRS ranged from 1.02 to 1.58/d whereas g varied from 0.07 to 0.88/*** accounted for 35%of the primary production at BMRS.A systematic review of available data in waters around Peninsular Malaysia,revealed howμfl uctuated over a wide range(0.01–1.80/d)and correlated with chl a distribution(R 2=0.181,P<0.001).However,the relationship was only signifi cant at<9μg/L chl a for mesotrophic waters and<16μg/L chl a for eutrophic *** contrast,g ranged from 0.00 to 1.01/d,and correlated withμat all *** g/μslope ranged from 19%to 84%,and was generally similar for waters around Peninsular ***,all the g/μslopes had a positive y-intercept except for BMRS,and this seemed to suggest the availability of alternative prey supporting grazing at the other stations.

With the help of professionally trained agricultural scientists, the Guomindang＇s Nationalist government drafted a large-scale program for agricultural reconstruction in the late 1920s and early 1930s. At the heart of the program was a scientific rice-breeding experiment with the potential to produce great numbers of new high-yield rice varieties. However, this scientific achievement could not assure success of the new rice varieties in the market because the marketability of rice was determined not by the scientific productivity improvement but by a series of processes required before the rice reached consumers. For this, local and practical contexts had to be considered. By juxtaposing two different forms of ＂rice expertise,＂ this paper illuminates the incompatibility between the state＇s productivist understanding of agricultural improvement and the quality issue in the grain market.

AIM： To compare small sphincterotomy combined with endoscopic papillary large balloon dilation （SES ＋ ELBD） and endoscopic sphincterotomy （EST） for large bile duct stones. METHODS： We compared prospectively SES ＋ ELBD （group A, n = 27） with conventional EST （group B, n = 28） for the treatment of large bile duct stones （≥ 15 mm）. When the stone could not be removed with a normal basket, mechanical lithotripsy was performed. We compared the rates of complete stone removal with one session and application of mechanical lithotripsy. RESULTS： No significant differences were observed in the mean largest stone size （A： 20.8 mm, B： 21.3 mm）, bile duct diameter （A： 21.4 turn, B： 20.5 ram）, number of stones （A： 2.2, B： 2.3）, or procedure time （A： 18 min, B： 19 rain） between the two groups. The rates of complete stone removal with one session was 85% in group A and 86% in group B （P = 0.473）. Mechanical lithotripsy was required for stone removal in nine of 27 patients （33%） in group A and nine of 28 patients （32%, P = 0.527） in group ***： SES ＋ ELBD did not show significant benefits compared to conventional EST, especially for the removal of large （≥ 15 mm） bile duct stones.

The aim of this study is to propose a new detection method for determining the damage locations in pile foundations based on deep learning using acoustic emission ***,the damage location is simulated using a back propagation neural network deep learning model with an acoustic emission data set acquired from pile hit *** particular,the damage location is identified using two parameters:the pile location(PL)and the distance from the pile cap(DS).This study investigates the influences of various acoustic emission parameters,numbers of sensors,sensor installation locations,and the time difference on the prediction accuracy of PL and *** addition,correlations between the damage location and acoustic emission parameters are ***,the damage step condition is determined using a classification model with an acoustic emission data set acquired from uniaxial compressive strength ***,a new damage detection and evaluation method for pile foundations is *** new method is capable of continuously detecting and evaluating the damage of pile foundations in service.
