Intraguild predation （IGP） can be an important factor influencing the effective- ness of aphid natural enemies in biological control. In particular, aphid parasitoid foraging could be influenced by the presence of predators. This study investigated the effect of larvae of the predatory hoverfly Episyrphus balteatus DeGeer （Diptera： Syrphidae） and the multicolored Asian ladybird Harmonia axyridis Pallas （Coleoptera： Coccinellidae） on the foraging behavior of the aphid parasitoid, Aphidius ervi Haliday （Hymenoptera： Aphidiidae） in choice experiments using a leaf disc bioassay. Wasp response to chemical tracks left by those predator larvae was also tested. Parasitoid behavior was recorded using the Observer （Noldus Information Technology, version 5.0, Wageningen, the Netherlands）. The experiments were conducted under controlled environmental conditions using leaves of the broad bean plant, Viciafaba L. （Fabaceae） with Myzus persicae Sulzer （Homoptera： Aphididae） as the host complex. A. ervi females avoided aphid patches when larvae of either predator were present. A similar avoidance response was shown by A. ervi to aphid patches with E. balteatus larval tracks, whereas no significant response was observed to tracks left by H. axyridis larvae. It was concluded that IG predator avoidance shown by the aphid parasitoid A. ervi may be a factor affecting their distribution among host patches.

To cope with pathogen and insect attacks, plants develop different mechanisms of defence, in both direct （physical and chemical） and indirect ways （attractive volatiles to entomophagous beneficials）. Plants are then able to express traits that facilitate ＂top-down＂ control of pests by attracting herbivore predators. Here we investigate the indirect defence mechanism of potato plants by analyzing the volatile patterns of both healthy and aphid- infested plants. Important changes in the emitted terpene pattern by the Myzus persicae infested host plant were observed. Using Solid Phase MicroExtraction （SPME） and GC-MS, the （E）-fl-farnesene （EBF） appeared to be emitted by aphid-infested potato and not by healthy plants. To assess the infochemical role of these volatile releases after aphid damage on the aphidophagous predators Episyrphus balteams, the hoverfly foraging behavior was assessed using the Observer 5.0 software （Noldus, Wageningen, The Netherlands）. Aphidfree potato plants were also used as a control volatile source in the predator behavioral study. While aphid-infested plants induced efficient searching and acceptation behaviors leading to egg-laying, no kairomonal effect of healthy potato plants was observed, leading to longer immobility durations and shorter searching periods in the net cage. High oviposition rate of E. balteatus was observed when aphid-infested potato was used （mean of 48.9 eggs per laying and per female）. On the other hand, no egg was produced by the hoverfly on healthy aphid-free plants. The E. balteatus foraging and reproductive behaviors according to the volatile emission from aphid-infested plants are discussed in relation to the potential use of active infochemical molecules in integrated aphid pest management.

AIM: To evaluate the neuroprotective effect of a dietary supplement(ClearVision EX~?;CV) against glutamateinduced excitotoxicity in ***: We evaluated the protective effects CV on glutamate-induced cell toxicity of an immortalized mouse hippocampal cell line(HT-22) in vitro and N-methyl-Daspartate(NMDA) induced retinal injury in vivo. Once-daily oral administration of CV or vehicle(5% Arabic gum) was started the day before the NMDA injection and continued until the end of the study. Electroretinograms(ERGs) were recorded to evaluate the retinal function at 2 d after NMDA injection. Furthermore, a histological evaluation, Western blot analysis, and immunohistochemistry were performed for assessing the signal transduction pathway. RESULTS: HT-22 cell death was induced by the addition of glutamate and co-incubation with CV protected against it. Oral administration of CV inhibited the decrease in scotopic threshold response amplitudes induced by the intravitreal injection of NMDA and those of the thickness of the inner retinal layer in the histological evaluation. The increased phosphorylated levels of extracellular signalregulated kinase(ERK) but not cAMP response element binding protein(CREB) or Akt were observed 1 h after NMDA injection in both the vehicle-and CV-treated rats;however, p ERK activation was no more upregulated at 3 h after NMDA injection. pERK upregulation was observed in Müller ***: CV shows a protective effect against both glutamate-induced HT-22 cell death and NMDAinduced retinal damage. pERK upregulation in the Müller cells plays a key role in the protective effect of CV against glutamate-induced retinal toxicity.

Systematical approach in evaluation of LC method for determination of raloxifene hydrochloride and its impurities employing experimental design

Method validation presents a detailed investigation of analytical method and provision of the evidence that the method, when correctly applied, produces results that fit to the purpose. In order to achieve the method validation scope efficiently, experimental design presents a very useful tool. The greatest benefits of such approach could be seen in robustness testing through the provision of very useful data about the control of the chromatograp6hic system during the routine application. In this paper, robustness testing of the LC method proposed for the determination of raloxifene hydrochloride and its four impurities was done employing Plackett-Burman design. Applying this design, the effect of five real factors （acetonitrile content, sodium dodecyl sulfate content, column temperature, pH of the mobile phase and flow rate） on the corresponding resolution factors was investigated through twelve experiments. Furthermore, the insignificance intervals for significant factors were calculated and the parameters for system suitability tests were defined. Eventually, the other validation parameters were tested and the effectiveness of the proposed analytical method with a high degree of accuracy was confirmed.

Multiobjective Distributed Secondary Control of Battery Energy Storage Systems in Islanded AC Microgrids

With the rapid increase in electricity demand, how to provide stable energy supply by microgrid has become an important research direction. The precision and stability control of microgrid have been extensively studied, so this paper reviews the structure and control strategy of microgrid. Firstly, the structure of different microgrid is summarized and analyzed. Secondly,control strategies of microgrid are analyzed, while operation control strategy of islanded and grid-connected mode, three-layer control strategy of microgrid and multi-microgrid parallel optimal scheduling control strategy have been explored. Finally, future research direction of microgrid is discussed.

A Multi-Objective and Multi-Constraint Optimization Model for Cyber-Physical Power Systems Considering Renewable Energy and Electric Vehicles

The control of storage devices plays an important role in stable operation of distributed AC microgrids. A multiobjective distributed secondary control scheme of storage devices is proposed. Firstly, to maintain the frequency and voltage regulation and ensure proportional reactive power sharing, a distributed consensus scheme is adopted for the operation of battery energy storage systems. Secondly, to prolong the cycle life of the battery, an improved droop control strategy combined with state of charge balancing is proposed, where each battery agent only requires and shares information with its networked neighbors in the communication topology. Finally, an islanded AC microgrid model with four battery energy storage systems is built and simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed consensus strategy.

In recent years,the combustion furnace has been widely applied in different fields of industrial technology,and the accurate prediction of furnace temperature can effectively help operators adjust combustion strategies to improve combustion ***,furnace combustion is an extremely complex process,and its temperature change is affected by many related *** effectively predict the furnace temperature,a novel furnace temperature prediction method using optimized kernel extreme learning machine（OKELM） is ***,the optimized kernel extreme learning machine is used to establish the relationship between the furnace temperature and its related *** on this,the continuous human learning optimization（CHLO） algorithm is adopted to optimize the kernel parameter and regularization coefficient,then the best OKELM with optimal parameters is adopted to predict the furnace temperature more precisely and ***,the experiment results show that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art furnace temperature prediction approaches,providing high prediction accuracy and a low false prediction error.

In irrigation schemes under rotational water supply in semiarid region, the water allocation and irrigation scheduling are often based on a fixed-area proportionate water depth with every irrigation cycle irrespective of crops and their growth stages, for an equitable water supply. An experiment was conducted during the 2004- 2005 season in Haouz irrigated area in Morocco, which objective was i) to evaluate the effects of the surface irrigation scheduling method (existing rule) adopted by the irrigation agency on winter wheat production compared to a full irrigation method and ii) to evaluate drip irrigation versus surface irrigation impacts on water saving and yield of winter wheat. The methodology was based on the FAO-56 dual approach for the surface irrigation scheduling. Ground measurements of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) were used to derive the basal crop coefficient and the vegetation fraction cover. The simple FAO-56 approach was used for drip irrigation scheduling. For surface irrigation, the existing rule approach resulted in yield and WUE reductions of 22% and 15%, respectively, compared with the optimized irrigation scheduling proposed by the FAO-56 for full irrigation treatment. This revealed the negative effects of the irrigation schedules adopted in irrigation schemes under rotational water supply on crops productivity. It was also demon-strated that drip irrigation applied to wheat was more efficient with 20% of water saving in comparison with surface irrigation (full irrigation treatment). Drip irrigation gives also higher wheat yield compared to surface irrigation (+28% and +52% for full irrigation and existing rule treatments respectively). The same improvement was observed for water use efficiency (+24 and +59% respectively).
