Ultra-performance liquid chromatography electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry method for the simultaneous determination of itraconazole and hydroxy itraconazole in human plasma

A highly sensitive, selective, and precise ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method was developed and validated for simultaneous quantification of itraconazole and hydroxy itraconazole in human plasma by a single liquid-liquid extraction step. The precursor to product ion transitions of m/z 705.3/392.3, m/z 721.2/408.3 and m/z 708.2/435.4 were used to detect and quantify itraconazole, hydroxy itraconazole and itraconazole-d3 respectively. The lower limit of quantitation was found to be 0.500 ng/mL for itraconazole and 1.00 ng/mL for hydroxy itraconazole. The mean recoveries for itraconazole and hydroxy itraconazole were found to be 100.045% and 100.021%, respectively. This developed method with a chromatographic run time of 2.0 min was successfully applied to a bioequivalence study of 100 mg itraconazole capsule.

Single-sweep volumetric optoacoustictomography of whole mice

Applicability of optoacoustic imaging in biology and medicine is determined by several key performance *** particular,an inherent trade-off exists between the acquired field-of-view(FOV)and temporal resolution of the measurements,which may hinder studies looking at rapid biodynamics at the whole-body ***,we report on a single-sweep volumetric optoacoustic tomography(sSVOT)system that attains whole body three-dimensional mouse scans within 1.8 s with better than 200μm spatial *** employs a spherical matrix array transducer in combination with multibeam illumination,the latter playing a critical role in maximizing the effective FOV and imaging speed *** system further takes advantage of the spatial response of the individual ultrasound detection elements to mitigate common image artifacts related to limited-view tomographic geometry,thus enabling rapid acquisitions without compromising image quality and *** compare performance metrics to the previously reported whole-body mouse imaging implementations and alternative image compounding and reconstruction *** is anticipated that sSVOT will open new venues for studying large-scale biodynamics,such as accumulation and clearance of molecular agents and drugs across multiple organs,circulation of cells,and functional responses to stimuli.

Chalcogenide photonic crystal fiber for ultraflat mid-infrared supercontinuum generation

In this Letter, we numerically simulate the generation of a 1–15 μm mid-infrared supercontinuum（SC） from a highly nonlinear Ge_（11.5）As24Se_（64.5）-based photonic crystal fiber（PCF）. This ultra-broadband SC is achieved in a100 mm long PCF pumped using 85 fs laser pulses operated at 3.1 μm and a peak pulse power of 3 k W. The proposed design offers a flat dispersion profile with two zero dispersion wavelengths. This broad and flat dispersion profile of the Ge_（11.5）As24Se_（64.5）PCF, combined with the high nonlinearity（2474 W-1km-1）, generates an ultra-broadband SC.

Thin Film Encapsulation at Low Temperature Using Combination of Inorganic Dyad Layers and Spray Coated Organic Layer

Organic devices have many advantages such as low material consumption and low energy requirements, but they have serious issues regarding long term stability. Hence we need to develop a barrier film which solves this problem. Initially, the organic devices were fabricated on glass and were encapsulated using glass and epoxy (as sealant). Gradually there was a need to shift on to flexible substrates which required encapsulation to be flexible as well. Therefore, the motivation of the work is to develop thin film encapsulation that can be made flexible. The low temperature PECVD grown films of SiOx and SiNxwere used as the barrier film. Alternate inorganic layers (2-dyads) provided barrier of ~10-2 g/m2 day and increasing the number of dyads to five improved the water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) only by one order of magnitude. However, introducing organic layers in this structure resulted in WVTR value of order 10-5 g/m2 day. The organic layers were deposited by spray technique.

Entanglement Generation in Spatially Separated Systems Using Quantum Walk

We present a scheme for generating entanglement between two spatially separated systems from the spatial entanglement generated by the interference effect during the evolution of a single-particle quantum walk. Any two systems which can interact with the spatial modes entangled during the walk evolution can be entangled using this scheme. A notable feature is the ability to control the quantum walk dynamics and its localization at desired pair lattice sites irrespective of separation distance resulting in a substantial control and improvement in the entanglement output. Implementation schemes to entangle spatially separated atoms using quantum walk on a single atom is also presented.

Potassium recovery from muscovite using NaCl-roasting followed by H_(2)SO_(4)-leaching

The present study aims at the recovery of potassium from muscovite mica(which contains K_(2)O;~10 wt%)using NaCl-roasting coupled with H_(2)SO_(4)-leaching *** preliminary acid leaching studies applying different mineral acids resulted in a potassium recovery of 8%−18%.The optimum leaching conditions for the maximum recovery were 4 mol/L H_(2)SO_(4),60 min leaching time and liquid-solid ratio 4 mL/g at 90℃.However,the roasting of muscovite with additive NaCl(muscovite:NaCl mass ratio of 1:1.00,900℃,45 min)followed by H_(2)SO_(4)-leaching(95℃,60 min)extracted potassium to the tune of 98%.Under similar roasting conditions,the H_(2)O-leaching process extracted only 60%of *** effects of various roasting and leaching parameters such as temperature,time,NaCl concentration,acid concentration,liquid-solid ratio on potassium extraction were *** appearance of the sylvite(KCl)mineral phase in the NaCl-roasted muscovite and its disappearance in the acid/water leached residue confirmed the physical and chemical distortions of the muscovite crystal *** possible mechanism of potassium release from the complex muscovite structure was elucidated based on available literature substantiated by characterizations using X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-rays spectroscopy(SEm-EDX).

Limb length discrepancy after total knee arthroplasty: A systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND Limb length discrepancy(LLD)after total knee arthroplasty(TKA)has been considered as one of the reasons for the unsatisfactory ***,there is no consensus about the extent of LLD that can be considered as clinically *** To evaluate the incidence of radiographic LLD and its impact on functional outcome following *** All randomized-controlled trial and observational studies on LLD in TKA,published till 22nd June 2020,were systematically searched and *** primary outcome was“limb lengthening or LLD after TKA”.The secondary outcomes included“assessment of LLD in varus/valgus deformity”and“impact of LLD on the functional outcome”.RESULTS Of 45 retrieved studies,qualitative and quantitative assessment of data was performed from eight studies and six studies,*** studies(n=1551)reported the average limb lengthening of 5.98 *** LLD after TKA was ranging from 0.4±10 mm to 15.3±2.88 *** incidence of postoperative radiographic LLD was reported in 44%to 83.3%of *** was no difference in the preoperative and postoperative LLD(mD-1.23;95%CI:-3.72,1.27;P=0.34).Pooled data of two studies(n=219)revealed significant limb lengthening in valgus deformity than varus(mD-2.69;95%CI:-5.11,0.27;P=0.03).The pooled data of three studies(n=611)showed significantly worse functional outcome in patients with LLD of≥10 mm compared tomm(standard mD 0.58;95%CI:0.06,1.10;P=0.03).CONCLUSION Limb lengthening after TKA is common,and it is significantly more in valgus than varus *** LLD(≥10 mm)is associated with suboptimal functional outcome.
