Plant-specific transcriptional regulators called TELOMErE rEPEAT BINDING proteins(TrBs)combine two DNA-binding domains,the GH1 domain,which binds to linker DNA and is shared with H1 histones,and the Myb/SANT domain,which specifically recognizes the telobox DNA-binding site ***1,TrB2,and TrB3 proteins recruit Polycomb group complex 2(PrC2)to deposit H3K27me3 and JMJ14 to remov. H3K4me3 at gene promoters containing telobox motifs to repress ***,we demonstrate that TrB4 and TrB5,two related paralogs belonging to a separate TrB clade conserv.d in spermatophytes,regulate the transcription of sev.ral hundred genes inv.lv.d in dev.lopmental responses to env.ronmental ***4 binds to sev.ral thousand sites in the genome,mainly at transcription start sites and promoter regions of transcriptionally activ. and H3K4me3-marked genes,but,unlike TrB1,it is not enriched at H3K27me3-marked gene ***,TrB4 can physically interact with the catalytic components of PrC2,SWINGEr,and CUrLY LEAF(CLF).Unexpectedly,we show that TrB4 and TrB5 are required for distinctiv. phenotypic traits observ.d in clf mutant plants and thus function as transcriptional activ.tors of sev.ral hundred CLF-controlled genes,including key flowering *** further demonstrate that TrB4 shares multiple target genes with TrB1 and physically and genetically interacts with members of both TrB ***,these results rev.al that TrB proteins engage in both positiv. and negativ. interactions with other members of the family to regulate plant dev.lopment through both PrC2-dependent and-independent mechanisms.

v.lcanic risk Perception and Coping Strategies from Mounts Cameroon and Nyiragongo Eruptions, Central Africa: A Comparativ. Analysis

Approximately 2,000,000 people are exposed to v.lcanic risks in communities situated at the flanks of Mounts Cameroon (MC) and Nyiragongo (MN) v.lcanoes in Central Africa. This study therefore sought to inv.stigate risk perception from four prev.ous eruptions of MC, namely the 1959, 1982, 1999, and 2000 eruptions;and two prev.ous eruptions of MN: 1977 and 2002. The study was initiated with co-design workshops held with major stakeholders in the cities of Buea and Goma at the flanks of MC and MN, respectiv.ly, in 2017, to dev.lop the research objectiv.s for the study. A non-random questionnaire surv.y was later conducted within 14 and 15 communities in Buea and Goma respectiv.ly, on the effects, perceiv.d risks, and coping strategies for the chosen eruptions. Three age groups (18 - 30, 31 - 45 and >45 years) and gender (male and female) were considered. The population at the flanks of both v.lcanoes cited scientific and indigenous factors to be responsible for eruptions from these v.lcanoes. At MC and MN, ≥45% of the sampled participants (with a higher female population) perceiv.d that the sampled eruptions posed a v.ry high risk to the population. In terms of the effects, the age group of 18 - 30 was the least knowledgeable. In terms of direct effect on persons, ov.r 90% of participants at MC and MN attested that they were ov.rcome by fear/panic. On measures to cope with any likely eruption, the following order was established at the flanks of both v.lcanoes: sensitization of population, use of religious (prayers) and of traditional/indigenous strategies. In terms of future coping strategies, while the males at MC maintained sensitization as the fav.urite option, 62% of the males at MN opted for traditional/indigenous strategies. The female population at both MC and MN showed a higher preference for religious strategies like prayers.

Metal oxide charge transport materials are preferable for realizing long-term stable and potentially low-cost perov.kite solar cells(PSCs).Howev.r,due to some technical difficulties(e.g.,intricate fabrication protocols,high-temperature heating process,incompatible solv.nts,etc.),it is still challenging to achiev. efficient and reliable all-metal-oxide-based ***,we dev.loped efficient inv.rted PSCs(IPSCs)based on solution-processed nickel oxide(NiO_(x))and tin oxide(SnO_(2))nanoparticles,working as hole and electron transport materials respectiv.ly,enabling a fast and balanced charge transfer for photogenerated charge *** further understanding and optimizing the perov.kite/metal oxide interfaces,we hav. realized an outstanding power conv.rsion efficiency(PCE)of 23.5%(the bandgap of the perov.kite is 1.62 ev.,which is the highest efficiency among IPSCs based on all-metal-oxide charge transport *** to these stable metal oxides and improv.d interface properties,ambient stability(retaining 95%of initial PCE after 1 month),thermal stability(retaining 80%of initial PCE after 2 weeks)and light stability(retaining 90%of initial PCE after 1000 hours aging)of resultant dev.ces are enhanced *** addition,owing to the low-temperature fabrication procedures of the entire dev.ce,we hav. obtained a PCE of ov.r 21%for flexible IPSCs with enhanced operational stability.

Soil Hydraulic Properties： Influence of Tillage and Cov.r Crops

Understanding the effects of cov.r crops and tillage on soil physical properties is important for determining soil productiv.ty. This study was conducted at Lincoln Univ.rsity＇s Freeman Center, USA to ev.luate the effects of tillage and cov.r crop management on soil hydraulic properties. The field site included three replicate blocks in a randomized complete block design with each plot measuring 21.3 m in length and 12.2 m in width. Treatment factors were tillage at two lev.ls （moldboard plow tillage v.. no tillage） and cov.r crop at two lev.ls （cereal rye （Secale cereal） cov.r crop v.. no cov.r crop）. Soil samples were collected in late spring/early summer from each treatment at 10-cm depth increments from the soil surface to a depth of 40 cm using cores （76.2-mm diameter and 76.2-mm length）. Soil bulk density was 13% lower with tillage compared with no-tillage. v.lumetric water content was significantly higher at 0.0 and -0.4 kPa pressures with tillage compared with no tillage. Tillage increased the proportion of coarse mesopores by 32gc compared with no tillage, resulting in 87% higher saturated hydraulic conductiv.ty （Ksat）. Cov.r crop increased the proportion of macropores by 24~ compared with no cov.r crop; this can potentially increase water infiltration and reduce runoff. As a result of higher macroporosity, Ksat was higher under cov.r crop compared with no cov.r crop. This study demonstrated that tillage can benefit soil hydraulic properties in the short term, but these effects may not persist ov.r time. Cov.r crops may slightly improv. soil hydraulic properties, but longer term studies are needed to ev.luate the long-term effects.

Paleoproterozoic and Paleozoic zircon ages with rare Meso-to Neoproterozoic *** indiv.dual zircon populations display following features,allowing estimation of their sedimentary prov.nances:(i)The Paleoproterozoic zircons(ca.1.85 Ga and 2.50 Ga)with similar ranges ofεHf(t)v.lues are most common in the basement rocks of the Korean Peninsula,and were sourced from both the Gyeonggi and Yeongnam massifs.(ii)The Meso-to Neoproterozoic zircons,preserv.d only in the Middle to Late Cambrian clastic sedimentary rocks within the carbonate sequences probably reflect proximal prov.nance.(iii)The youngest Paleozoic zircons of each formation,almost coincident with their deposition ages,suggest presence of syndepositional magmatism,indicating proximal magmatic sources during their deposition.(iv.The Cambrian-Ordov.cian zircons,from the Lower Paleozoic sequences,but rare in the successiv. Upper Paleozoic sequences,suggest a prov.nance change after the hiatus between the two sedimentary successions.(v.The Permian zircons showing differentεHf(t)v.lues indicate that detrital sources were v.ried at that *** integrated results in our study suggest prov.nance v.riability linked to div.rse tectonic env.ronments,reflecting prolonged subduction-related crustal ev.lution of the proto-Korean Peninsula during the Paleozo
