Segmentation is the act of partitioning an image into different regions by creating boundaries between regions.k-means image segmentation is the simplest prevalent ***,the segmentation quality is contingent on the initial parameters(the cluster centers and their number).In this paper,a convolution-based modified adaptive k-means(MAKM)approach is proposed and evaluated using images collected from different sources(MATLAB,Berkeley image database,vOc2012,BGH,MIAS,and MRI).The evaluation shows that the proposed algorithm is superior to k-means++,fuzzy c-means,histogrambased k-means,and subtractive k-means algorithms in terms of image segmentation quality(Q-value),computational cost,and *** proposed algorithm was also compared to state-of-the-art learning-based methods in terms of IoU and MIoU;it achieved a higher MIoU value.

Effect of opioid dependence or abuse on opioid utilization after shoulder arthroplasty

AIM To examine whether opioid dependence or abuse has an effect on opioid utilization after anatomic or reverse total shoulder arthroplasty(TSA).METHODS All anatomic TSA(IcD-9 81.80) and reverse shoulder arthroplasty(RSA)(IcD-9 81.88) procedures from 2007 to 2015 were queried from within the Humana claims database utilizing the Pearl Diver supercomputer(colorado Springs, cO). Study groups were formed based on the presence or absence of a previous history of opioid dependence(IcD-9 304.00 and 304.03) or abuse(IcD-9 305.50 and 305.53). Opioid utilization among the groups was tracked monthly up to 1 year post-operatively utilizing National Drug codes. A secondary analysis was performed to determine risk factors for pre-operative opioid dependence or *** Two percent of TSA(157 out of 7838) and 3% of RSA(206 out of 6920) patients had a history of opioid dependence or abuse. For both TSA and RSA, opioid utilization was significantly higher in opioid dependent patients at all post-operative intervals(P cidence of opioid use among groups was similar within the first post-operative month. After TSA, opioid dependent patients were over twice as likely to fill opioid prescriptions during the post-operative months 1-12. Following RSA, opioid dependent patients were over 3 times as likely to utilize opioids from months 3-12. Age less than 65 years, history of mood disorder, and history of chronic pain were significant risk factors for pre-operative opioid dependence/abuse in patients who underwent TSA or *** Following shoulder arthroplasty, opioid use between opioid-dependent and non-dependent patients is similar within the first post-operative month but is greater among opioid-dependent patients from months 2-12.

The Hong Kong Arbitration Draft Bill : The Way Forward?

The Hong Kong Arbitration Draft Bill will be released very soon and a period of consultation will begin. This paper seeks to increase awareness about the Draft Bill and to stimulate discussion on the key issues it raises. Firstly, it will give a brief account of the existing Arbitration Ordinance and discuss why it needs to be amended. Secondly, it will outline some of the main features of the Draft Bill. Finally, it will discuss some of the main issues surrounding the bill^whether the bill as drafted is user-friendly;whether a unitary UNcITRAL regime should be adopted with the distinction between domestic and international arbitration eliminated;whether there should be a right of appeal in domestic arbitrations.

Synergistic effects of chloride anions and carboxylated cellulose nanocrystals on the assembly of thick three-dimensional high-performance polypyrrole-based electrodes

Porous three-dimensional (3D) structures generally improve the performance of electrodes by increasing their active surface area and the diffusion speed of electrolyte ions during charging/*** polypyrrole (PPy) based films were created by electrodepositing PPy in the presence of varying amounts of chloride anions (cl^(-)) and polyanionic ribbonlike nanoparticles (carboxylated cellulose nanocrystals (cNc-cOO-)) as scaffold *** assembly mechanism of the 3D PPy electrodes combines the effect of different nucleation and growth mechanisms during electropolymerization and deposition of the formed PPy with cNc-cOO-and with cl^(-).The highest area capacitance of these electrode materials was 1.39 F cm^(-2)(150.2 F g^(-1)) at a current density of 1 m A cm^(-2)(0.1 A g^(-1)).More importantly,at a high current density of 20 m A cm^(-2)(2.2 A g^(-1)),the thick (ca.130μm),3D,and high mass loading(9.2 mg cm^(-2)) cl^(-):cNc-cOO-/PPy films exhibited an excellent areal capacitance of 0.85 F cm^(-2)(70.8 F g^(-1)),increasing about 16%over cNc-cOO-/PPy films prepared without cl^(-)present during *** addition,an aqueous cl^(-):cNc-cOO-/PPy (with cl^(-):cNc-cOO-=2.0) symmetric supercapacitor had an outstanding energy density of 41.15μWh cm^(-2)(4.46 Wh kg^(-1)) and excellent cycling stability,while even improving on its original areal capacitance (to 111.2%of its original capacitance) after cycling3000 cycles at 8 m A cm^(-2),indicating their potential in energy storage devices.

Flame Synthesis of Zr/ZSM-5 catalysts with Tunable Acidity for the Oxidative Dehydrogenation of Propane to Propene

Tuning the surface acidity of ZSM-5 catalyst is essential to achieve desired propene selectivity and *** several ratios of Zr were utilized to modify ZSM-5 via flame spray pyrolysis technique coupled with a pulse spray evaporation *** interaction between Zr and ZSM-5 in the flame influenced the physicochemical and acidity properties of the Zr/*** increasing Zr ratio in ZSM-5 shows coated layers of irregular nano-sized Zr with an increase in crystallite sizes due to the synergetic effect between Zr and *** surface chemical analysis revealed increased lattice oxygen on the Zr modified ZSM-5(1:4) sample compared to other *** acidity analysis revealed the Lewis and Br?nsted acid distribution in the weak and medium acid sites on the catalyst ***,the increase in Zr loading decreased the concentration of Br?nsted acid sites and tuned the catalyst surface to more Lewis acidity,promoting propene selectivity and hindering the over-oxidation of *** modified ZSM-5 catalysts were examined in a fixed bed reactor within 300℃-700℃ at a gas hourly space velocity(GHSv) of 6000 mL·g(catalysts)^(-1)·h^(-1) for the oxidative dehydrogenation of propane(ODHP) to *** the catalysts,Zr/ZSM-5(1:4) exhibited the best propene yield, with 57.19% propane conversion and 75.54% selectivity to propene and the highest *** work provides a promising strategy for tuning the surface acidity of ZSM-5 with Zr for ODHP applications.
