Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and Plasmodium species are the causative agents of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and malaria respectively with similar clinical presentations. The objective of this study is to determine the burden of co-infection of SARS-CoV-2 and malaria in the general population. Five (5 mLs) of blood samples were collected for SARS-CoV-2 and malaria parasite test. The malaria test was performed using a commercially available one-step malaria antigen Plasmodium falciparum histidine-rich protein 2 (Pf HRP-II) rapid test kit. The results of the study showed that the participants that were coinfected with SARS-CoV-2 IgG and malaria were 13 (2.5%) in Lagos, 1114 (39.1%) in Delta and 49 (2.3%) in Sokoto States. The prevalence of coinfection of SARS-CoV-2 and malaria in urban areas in Lagos, Delta and Sokoto States were 7 (2.2%), 1373 (48.1%), and 5 (0.2%) respectively. In rural areas, the prevalence of coinfection of SARS-CoV-2 and malaria in Lagos, Delta and Sokoto States were 6 (0.3%), 365 (12.8%), and 44 (2.1%) respectively in this study. This suggests that participants in the urban areas were more prone to co-infections than the rural areas in Lagos and Delta states, while it was otherwise in Sokoto State. In conclusion, the co-infection of SARS-CoV-2 and malaria was very high in Delta State compared to the other States. It is important for clinics to screen for both diseases when patients present with symptoms of malaria. This is because the infections have similar symptoms and the public is quick to assume malaria infection without diagnosing for COVID-19 and vice versa.

特发性肾病综合征是最常见的儿童肾小球疾病,其特征是大量蛋白尿、低蛋白血症和(或)伴有水肿,全球每年儿童患病率为(1.15~16.90)每10万例。约有85%~90%的患者在接受糖皮质激素治疗的4~6周内可达到蛋白尿完全缓解,表现为激素敏感型肾病综合征(SSNS)。约70%~80%的SSNS患者在随访期间至少复发1次,其中多达50%的患者出现频繁复发或依赖糖皮质激素以维持蛋白尿缓解。为延长复发间隔时间,激素治疗的用药剂量和用药时长始终是热点问题之一,且患者出现激素相关并发症的概率较高。临床已应用多种激素助减药物(免疫抑制药物),但在疾病治疗过程中这些药物的选择和用药时机存在明显差异。因此,需要国际循证临床实践建议(CPRs)来指导临床实践、减少实践差异。国际儿科肾脏病学会(IPNA)召集专家小组通过对12个临床相关PICO(研究对象、干预措施、对照、结果/结局)问题进行系统的文献回顾,制定了关于儿童SSNS诊断和治疗的建议和分级。对治疗转归提出了新的定义,有助于指导治疗改变,并为重要的研究问题提供了参考。

This work contributed to a detailed study on a better understanding of the Jominy test, adopted a proportion of study to create the Jominy test device, exhibited favorable conceptions for the development of a prototype of the device, covering the four aspects of the project, being they: test device, test body heating system, test automation and instrumentation using embedded electronics and financial analysis for the elaboration of this project in Brazil. It was possible to observe in the results that the system is efficient, simple and functional, it was possible to obtain the first test carried out in the controlled environment the temperature data in degrees centigrade, the recorded data were automatically launched in Microsoft Excel by the PLX DAQ software, making the acquisition of the data. In the matter of preparing the test device, the drawings are presented in the 3D modeling software, cost tables of the materials used for assembly in Brazil. In terms of the heating system, a heating system was adopted that uses electromagnetic induction, the cost of materials related to the heating system design was also presented. Another relevant factor that contributes to the research and improvement of the prototype is the municipality, located in the Paraiba Valley region, located in the state of São Paulo, consisting of a fertile and relevant scenario of regional, national, international and multinational statistics, thus concluding the effectiveness for the mainly metallurgical industries. The results obtained were satisfactory and consistent, when they were created for the Jominy test device with the ability to submit small pieces for testing and mainly essential in the didactic point of view for a higher education institution of engineering and technology.

Background and objectives:Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is a pandemic that has become a major source of morbidity and mortality worldwide,affecting the physical and mental health of individuals influencing *** the threat,it poses to maternal health in sub-Saharan Africa and Nigeria,there is little or no data on the impact it has on fertility,conception,gestation and *** compare the birth rate between pre-COVID and COVID times using selected months of the *** and methods:This was a secondary analysis of cross-sectional analytical study data from the birth registries of three tertiary hospitals,comparing two years[2019(Pre-COVID)]versus[2020(COVID era)]using three months of the year(October to December).The data relied upon was obtained from birth registries in three busy maternity clinics all within tertiary hospitals in South-East Nigeria and we aimed at discussing the potential impacts of COVID-19 on fertility in *** secondary outcome measures were;mode of delivery,booking status of the participants,maternal age and ***:There was a significant decrease in tertiary-hospital based birth rate by 92 births(P=0.0009;95%CI:-16.0519 to-4.1481)among mothers in all the three hospitals in 2020 during the COVID period(post lockdown months)of October to *** was a significant difference in the mode of delivery for mothers(P=0.0096)with a 95%confidence interval of 1.0664 to 1.5916,as more gave birth through vaginal delivery during the 2020 COVID-19 period than ***:Tertiary-hospital based birth rates were reduced during the *** multi-centre study extrapolated on possible factors that may have played a role in this decline in their birth rate,which includes but is not limited to;decreased access to hospital care due to the total lockdowns/curfews and worsening inflation and economic recession in the country.

目的静息能量消耗（REE）与肥胖、胰岛素抵抗和2型糖尿病（T2DM）相关。REE和T2DM均为遗传性状。因此，我们研究父母T2DM对正常血糖子代的静息能量消耗的影响。方法将父母T2DM血糖正常的受试者87名，与父母无糖尿病的正常血糖受试者83名相比较，他们的年龄、性别、种族、体质指数（BMI）、体重和腰围进行匹配。研究他们的75g口服葡萄糖耐量试验；并使用间接测热法测定静息能量消耗，用双能x线吸收测定法评估体组分。使用Student t-检验、方差分析和回归分析进行统计分析。
