The mesogenic properties of a homologous series of aromatic ester materials are investigated. Single tail and double tail materials were synthesized to compare with other series we prepared and published earlier. The phase sequences and transition temperatures were obtained by polarized light microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. Only the single tail materials with the ester attached to naphthalene at position 2 display mesogenicbehavior. Two materials (ZH 29 & ZH 32) possess a monophasic nematic phase and another two materials (ZH 14 & ZH 35) display biphasic nematic and smectic (A) phases.

The production of quality food is indispensable and essential to overcome its global *** order to exercise the facile route to acquire massive production,a laser irradiation treatment method was *** have investigated the effects of diode laser irradiation on wheat seeds germination,its early growth and biochemical *** variation in germination parameters,caused by laser treatment were monitored carefully.A comparison study was accomplished to examine the laser irradiation effects on treated and control *** red laser indicated an enhancement of 25%in germination percentage,4.68 cm in shoot length,and 0.64 cm in root length while green laser showed 6.25%less germination percentage than the untreated *** green laser showed 9.67 cm increase in shoot length,5.39 cm in root length as compared to untreated *** was found that the seeds which were irradiated with green laser showed an amount of superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT)and peroxidase(POD),of 11.9,10,and 1.53 per mg of protein,respectively as compared to control ***,these investigations are promising and suitable for upcoming research on a large scale.

The mechanisms of interactions between apex and smaller carnivores may range from competition to ***,interactions between predators and prey are mainly driven by the prey reducing the likelihood of encounters with *** this study,we investigated(1)the spatiotemporal interactions between an apex(the snow leopard)and a meso-predator(the red fox),and(2)the temporal interactions between the snow leopard and its potential prey(Siberian ibex,argali,Asian wild ass,Tolai hare)through camera trapping in the Mongolian Great *** probability of occurrence for the red fox was higher in the presence of the snow leopard than in its ***,the red fox activity pattern matched that of the snow leopard,with both species mostly active at *** positive spatiotemporal interaction suggests that the presence of the snow leopard may be beneficial for the red fox in terms of scavenging ***,other explanations may also be *** prey,the Siberian ibex and the argali were mainly active during the day,whereas the Asian wild ass and the Tolai hare were more *** findings suggest that potential prey(especially the Siberian ibex and the argali)may shape their behavior to decrease the opportunity for encounters with the snow *** results have revealed complex interactions between apex and smaller predators andbetween apexpredatorand its potential prey.

Background and objectives: Irrational and repeated use of broad spectrum antibiotics for infectious diarrhea in children has resulted in their increased resistance along with several systemic toxic effects. Probiotics are also used in the management of infectious diarrhea as these are supposed to be favorable in promoting overall health benefits including stability of the intestinal flora. However, these agents are not used as an alternative to antibiotics as their exact bactericidal/bacteriostatic effects have not been evaluated on the basis of any clinical or in-vitro samples (Culture and Sensitivity test). Hence the aim of our study was to compare the culture and sensitivity patterns of standard antibiotics and two probiotics, Lactobacilli (Lactobacillus paracasei/Lactobacillus acidophilus) and Saccharomyces boulardii used for the treatment of infectious diarrhea in children less than 5 years of age in a tertiary care hospital of Karachi, Pakistan. Methodology: This prospective quasi experimental study was conducted for a period of six months. After getting informed consent from parents/guardians, the stool samples were obtained from children of ages, 6 months to 5 years, presented with signs and symptoms of diarrhea in outpatient department (OPD) or being referred to microbiology department for stool C/S (culture and sensitivity). The sensitivity patterns of the cultured isolates were assessed for standard antibiotics according to the CLSI guidelines (2018), while the two probiotics (Lactobacilli and Saccharomyces boulardii) were evaluated by means of Dried Modification method. The data was analyzed using statistical software SPSS version 19.0. Results: A total number of 325 stool samples were collected, out of which 152 samples were positive for pathogens i.e. E. coli, Klebsiella and Salmonella typhi. The sensitivity of combination of Lactobacilli for E. coli, Klebsiella and Salmonella typhi was 28.3%, 25% and 25% respectively. While, for Saccharomyces boulardi
