Workout Action Recognition in Video Streams Using an Attention Driven Residual DC-GRU Network

Regular exercise is a crucial aspect of daily life, as it enables individuals to stay physically active, lowers thelikelihood of developing illnesses, and enhances life expectancy. The recognition of workout actions in videostreams holds significant importance in computer vision research, as it aims to enhance exercise adherence, enableinstant recognition, advance fitness tracking technologies, and optimize fitness routines. However, existing actiondatasets often lack diversity and specificity for workout actions, hindering the development of accurate recognitionmodels. To address this gap, the Workout Action Video dataset (WAVd) has been introduced as a significantcontribution. WAVd comprises a diverse collection of labeled workout action videos, meticulously curated toencompass various exercises performed by numerous individuals in different settings. This research proposes aninnovative framework based on the Attention driven Residual Deep Convolutional-Gated Recurrent Unit (ResDCGRU)network for workout action recognition in video streams. Unlike image-based action recognition, videoscontain spatio-temporal information, making the task more complex and challenging. While substantial progresshas been made in this area, challenges persist in detecting subtle and complex actions, handling occlusions,and managing the computational demands of deep learning approaches. The proposed ResDC-GRU Attentionmodel demonstrated exceptional classification performance with 95.81% accuracy in classifying workout actionvideos and also outperformed various state-of-the-art models. The method also yielded 81.6%, 97.2%, 95.6%, and93.2% accuracy on established benchmark datasets, namely HMDB51, Youtube Actions, UCF50, and UCF101,respectively, showcasing its superiority and robustness in action recognition. In recent years,iron(Fe)based degradable metal is explored as an alternative to permanent fracture fixation *** the present work,copper(Cu)is added in Fe-Mn system to enhance the degradation rate and antimicrobial ***-Mn-x Cu(x=0.9,5 and 10 wt.%)alloys are prepared by the meltingcasting-forging *** analysis confirms austenite phase stabilization due to the presence of Mn and *** predicted by Thermo-Calc calculations,Cu rich phase precipitations are noticed along the austenite grain *** behaviours of Cu added Fe-Mn alloys are investigated through static immersion and electrochemical polarization where enhanced degradation is found for higher Cu added *** challenged against *** bacteria,the Fe-Mn-Cu alloy media extract shows a significant bactericidal effect compare to the base *** vitro cytocompatibility studies,as determined using MG63 and MC3T3-E1 cell lines,indicate increased cell density as a function of time for all the *** implanted in rabbit femur,the newly developed alloy does not show any kind of tissue necrosis around the *** osteogenesis and higher new bone formation are observed with Fe-Mn-10 Cu alloy as evident from micro-computed tomography(μ-CT)and fluorochrome labelling.

Metal oxide resistive gas sensors suffer from poor selectivity that restricts their practical *** sensor arrays are used to improve selectivity which increased the system ***,we have proposed a novel NiO/ZnO-based p–n junction single-diode device for selective sensing of several volatile organic compounds(VOCs)simultaneously by tuning bias *** operating voltage was varied between 3 and 5 volts to achieve selective sensing of 2-propanol(19.1 times for 95ppm with response and recovery times of 70 s and 55s respectively‚at 3 volts),toluene(20.1 times for 95 ppm with response and recovery times of 100 s and 60 s respectively,at 4 volts),and formaldehyde(11.2 times for 95 ppm with response and recovery times of 88 s and 54s respectively,at 5 volts).A probable mechanism of the tunable selectivity with operating bias voltage due to increase in surface carriers with increasing voltage was hence put ***,this device may play an important role to develop future selective multiple VOC sensor thereby replacing standard sensor arrays.

Minimal Hepatic Encephalopathy in Indians:Psychometric Hepatic Encephalopathy Score and Inhibitory Control Test for Diagnosis and Rifaximin or Lactulose for Its Reversal

Background and Aims: Psychometric hepatic encephalop-athy score(PHES)is used widely for diagnosis of minimal hepatic encephalopathy(MHE).This prospective study aimed to determine the utility of the inhibitory control test(ICT)for the diagnosis of ***,the efficacy of rifaximin and lactulose for reversal of MHE was ***:A total of 180 eligible cirrhotic patients underwent testing for *** PHES was ≤ ?5 and ICT lures were ≥ 14,MHE was *** 108 patients with MHE were randomized to three groups for treatment with either lactulose,rifaximin,or *** outcomes were measured at the end of 3 ***: The 108 patients with MHE diagnosed by PHES and/or ICT accounted for 60%.The diagnosis of MHE was made by both ICT and PHES positivity in 56 patients,by abnormal ICT and normal PHES in 37 patients,and by abnor-mal PHES and normal ICT in 15 *** diagnosis of MHE,ICT had sensitivity of 78.87%,specificity of 66.06%with 60.22%positive predictive value and 82.76%negative predictive *** area under the curve value of 0.724(95%CI: 0.653–0.788)was obtained for diagnosis of *** of MHE was seen in 71.42%,70.27%and 11.11%of patients in the rifaximin,lactulose and placebo arms(p < 0.001).Rifaximin showed better tolerability compared to ***: For the diagnosis of MHE,ICT is a simple tool but has lower sensitivity and better specificity than *** is as efficacious as lactulose in the treat-ment of MHE and better tolerated.

Study of the Characteristics of Dust Acoustic Solitary Waves and Dust Acoustic Shock Waves in Electron Free Dusty Space Plasma

A theoretical investigation has been done for the study of dust acoustic solitary waves and dust acoustic shock waves propagating in an unmagnetized, collisionless Lorentzian dusty plasma considering adiabatic and non-adiabatic dust charge variation. Plasma under consideration is composed of inertialess Lorentzian positive and negative ions along with inertial positively charged dust grains. Such dust grains are charged by the flow of positive ion and negative ion current over the grain surface. Adiabatic grain charge variation shows the existence of compressive soliton whose amplitude decreases and width increases with increasing number of suprathermal particles. Non-adiabatic dust charge variation is concerned with the propagation of monotonic dust acoustic shock waves which do not loose monotonicity even when a number of suprathermal particles are very large.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists favorably address all components of metabolic syndrome

Cardiovascular death is the leading cause of mortality for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The etiologyof cardiovascular disease in diabetes may be divided into hyperglycemia per se and factors operating through components of metabolic syndrome(Met S). Hyperglycemia causes direct injury to vascular endothelium and possibly on cardiac myocytes. Met S is a cluster of risk factors like obesity, hyperglycemia, hypertension and dyslipidemia. The incidence of this syndrome is rising globally. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists(GLP-1RA) are a group of drugs, which address all components of this syndrome favorably. Experimental evidence suggests that they have favorable actions on myocardium as well. Several compounds belonging to GLP-1RA class are in market now and a large number awaiting their entry. Although, originally this class of drugs emerged as a treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus, more recent data generated revealed beneficial effects on multiple metabolic parameters. We have studied literature published between 2000 and 2016 to look into effects of GLP-1RA on components of Met S. Results from recently concluded clinical trials suggest that some of the molecules in this class may have favorable effects on cardiovascular outcome.

Primary hepatic amyloidosis:A case report and review ofliterature

We describe a case of 42-year-old female presenting with abdominal pain associated with loss of weight and fever for 8 mo. On evaluation she had gross hepatomegaly with raised alkaline phosphatase and raised GGT levels with normal transaminases and bilirubin. On imaging she had diffuse enlargement of liver with heterogeneous contrast uptake in liver. Her viral marker and autoimmune markers were negative. Liver biopsy depicted massive deposition of amyloid in peri-sinusoidal spaces which revealed apple green birefringence on polarizing microscopy after Congo red staining. Cardiac and renal evaluation was unremarkable. Abdominal fat pad and rectum biopsy was negative for amyloid deposit. There was no evidence of primary amyloidosis as bone marrow examination was normal. Serum and urine immunofixation electrophoresis were normal. Immunoperoxidase staining for serum amyloid associated protein for secondary amyloidosis was negative from liver biopsy. We present this rare case of primary hepatic amyloidosis and review the literature regarding varied presentations of hepatic involvement in amyloidosis.
