Models and Algorithms for Diffuse Optical Tomographic System

Diffuse optical tomography (DOT) using near-infrared (NIR) light is a promising tool for noninvasive imaging of deep tissue. The approach is capable of reconstructing the quantitative optical parameters (absorption coefficient and scattering coefficient) of a soft tissue. The motivation for reconstructing the optical property variation is that it and, in particular, the absorption coefficient variation, can be used to diagnose different metabolic and disease states of tissue. In DOT, like any other medical imaging modality, the aim is to produce a reconstruction with good spatial resolution and in contrast with noisy measurements. The parameter recovery known as inverse problem in highly scattering biological tissues is a nonlinear and ill-posed problem and is generally solved through iterative methods. The algorithm uses a forward model to arrive at a prediction flux density at the tissue boundary. The forward model uses light transport models such as stochastic Monte Carlo simulation or deterministic methods such as radioactive transfer equation (RTE) or a simplified version of RTE namely the diffusion equation (DE). The finite element method (FEM) is used for discretizing the diffusion equation. The frequently used algorithm for solving the inverse problem is Newton-based Model based Iterative Image Reconstruction (N-MoBIIR). Many Variants of Gauss-Newton approaches are proposed for DOT reconstruction. The focuses of such developments are 1) to reduce the computational complexity;2) to improve spatial recovery;and 3) to improve contrast recovery. These algorithms are 1) Hessian based MoBIIR;2) Broyden-based MoBIIR;3) adjoint Broyden-based MoBIIR;and 4) pseudo-dynamic approaches.

Cameron lesions represent linear gastric erosions and ulcers on the crests of mucosal folds in the distal neck of a hiatal hernia(HH).Such lesions may be found in upto 50% of endoscopies performed for another *** typically asymptomatic,these may rarely present as acute,severe upper gastrointestinal bleed(GIB).The aim is to report a case of a non-anemic 87-year-old female with history of HH and atrial fibrillation who presented with hematemesis and melena resulting in hypovolemic *** esophagogastroduodenoscopy was required to identify multiple Cameron ulcers as the *** in a patient with HH should involve meticulous visualization of hernia neck and surrounding *** ulcers should be considered in all patients with severe,acute GIB and especially in those with known HH with or without chronic anemia.

Application of polymeric flocculant for enhancing settling of the pond ash particles and water drainage from hydraulically stowed pond ash

Delayed settling of the ash particles and poor drainage of water from the pond ash are the major problems faced during the hydraulic stowing of pond ash. In this study the effect of polymeric flocculant on settling of the ash particles and drainage of water during pond ash stowing are investigated. In addition, the parameters, viz. drainage and absorption of water during pond ash stowing are quantified by stowing a mine goaf model with pond ash slurries of five different concentrations added with and without flocculant. The study revealed that addition of only 5 10 6 of Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (Na-CMC) flocculant with the pond ash slurries during stowing offers best result in terms of quicker settling of the ash particles and enhanced water drainage from the hydraulically stowed pond ash. Besides, it resulted in drainage of more than 85% of the total water used in the initial 45 min of stowing. The improvement in drainage is caused due to coagulation and flocculation of the pond ash particles because of charge neutralization and particle-particle bridging. This study may provide a basis for estimating the drainage and absorption of water during the real pond ash stowing operation in underground mines.

Diagnosis of breast cancer by tissue analysis

In this paper, we propose a technique to locate abnormal growth of cells in breast tissue and suggest further pathological test, when require. We compare normal breast tissue with malignant invasive breast tissue by a series of image processing steps. Normal ductal epithelial cells and ductal/lobular invasive carcinogenic cells also consider for comparison here in this paper. In fact, features of cancerous breast tissue （invasive） are extracted and analyses with normal breast tissue. We also suggest the breast cancer recognition technique through image processing and prevention by controlling p53 gene mutation to some extent.

An improved brain MR image binarization method as a preprocessing for abnormality detection and features extraction

This paper propose a computerized method of magnetic resonance imaging （MR/） of brain binarization for the uses of preprocessing of features extraction and brain ab- normality identification. One of the main problems of MR/ binarization is that many pixels of brain part cannot be cor- rectly binarized due to extensive black background or large variation in contrast between background and foreground of MR/. We have proposed a binarization that uses mean, vari- ance, standard deviation and entropy to determine a thresh- old value followed by a non-gamut enhancement which can overcome the binarization problem of brain component. The proposed binarization technique is extensively tested with a variety of MR/and generates good binarization with im- proved accuracy and reduced error. A comparison is carried out among the obtained outcome with this innovative method with respect to other well-known methods.

In-Situ Hydrothermal Synthesis of Bi–Bi2O2CO3 Heterojunction Photocatalyst with Enhanced Visible Light Photocatalytic Activity

Bismuth containing nanomaterials recently received increasing attention with respect to environmental applications because of their low cost, high stability and nontoxicity. In this work, Bi–Bi_2O_2CO_3 heterojunctions were fabricated by in-situ decoration of Bi nanoparticles on Bi_2O_2CO_3 nanosheets via a simple hydrothermal synthesis approach. X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and high-resolution TEM(HRTEM) were used to confirm the morphology of the nanosheet-like heterostructure of the Bi–Bi_2O_2CO_3 composite. Detailed ultrafast electronic spectroscopy reveals that the in-situ decoration of Bi nanoparticles on Bi_2O_2CO_3 nanosheets exhibit a dramatically enhanced electron-hole pair separation rate, which results in an extraordinarily high photocatalytic activity for the degradation of a model organic dye, methylene blue(MB) under visible light illumination. Cycling experiments revealed a good photochemical stability of the Bi–Bi_2O_2CO_3 heterojunction under repeated irradiation. Photocurrent measurements further indicated that the heterojunction incredibly enhanced the charge generation and suppressed the charge recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs.

Environmental arsenic(As) contamination,considered as the largest mass poisoning of the human population,has become a serious health concern for the people of South East Asia,including those living in the Bengal *** As-resistant strain,KUMAs15,was isolated from the As-contaminated fields in Nadia Ddistrict in West Bengal,India and was evaluated for its possible use in environmental As *** identification based on 16S rDNA gene sequencing revealed that the strain belonged to the genus *** strain tolerated high levels of As and oxidized arsenite under the culture *** strain also accumulated large quantities of As when exposed to a wide range of environmentally relevant concentrations of inorganic *** of the aoxB,arsB,and arsC gene expression explained the underlying cause of arsenite oxidation and As accumulation by *** As-resistant strain KUMAs15 of Micrococcus *** suggested to be a potential environmental As decontaminant.

Two fl uorescent quantum clusters of gold,namely Au25 and Au8,have been synthesized from mercaptosuccinic acid-protected gold nanoparticles of 45 nm core diameter by etching with excess *** etching at pH~3 yielded Au_(25),that at pH 7-8 yielded Au_(8).This is the fi rst report of the synthesis of two quantum clusters starting from a single *** simple method makes it possible to synthesize well-defined clusters in gram *** these clusters are highly fl uorescent and are highly biocompatible due to their low metallic content,they can be used for diagnostic applications.

A Cyclic Probabilistic C-Contraction Results using Hadzic and Lukasiewicz T-Norms in Menger Spaces

In this paper, we introduce generalized cyclic C-contractions through p number of subsets of a probabilistic metric space and establish two fixed point results for such contractions. In our first theorem we use the Hadzic type t-norm. In our next theorem we use Lukasiewicz t-norm. Our results generalize the results of Choudhury and Bhandari [11]. A control function [3] has been utilized in our second theorem. The results are illustrated with some examples.

The spatial distribution of bacterial communities inhabiting sediment is heterogeneous at different spatial scales,but mostly ***,it is postulated that the heterogeneity of the bacterial community composition varies at the same scale of the heterogeneity of sediment chemical *** large spatial scale(km) diversity in sediment from a brackish water lagoon(Chilika Lake,India) is studied,considering the large scale physical and chemical characteristics of land cover,climate,pH,and ***-two samples(24 stations,3 seasons:winter,rainy,and summer) of sediment from Chilika Lake were analyzed by 16 S ribosomal ribonucleic acid(rRNA) gene sequencing,and the relations with land cover and other physico-chemical paramete rs are *** re samples were collected after a severe cyclonic storm(Phailin) passed near the lagoon in 2013,to see the impact of the tropical storm on the spatial and tempo ral distribution of bacteria in the *** results demonstrate clear spatial relations between physico-chemical parameters(e.g.,salinity),land surfaces(e.g.,drainage area),and the distribution of sediment microbial communities.
